- Here is a dive of one of many barges in Smithtown Bays Artificial Reef. Lots of fish to see hanging out with the lost anchors and hooks of many anglers!
They use the grappling to hook onto wrecks and not risk losing the main anchor. The advantage of the grappling hook is if you get stuck you could pull it hard and bend it to break it loose from the wreck. Then it could be bent back into shape and used again.
I love catching black fish
It was a great dive huge clam beds there as well thanks so much for posting my next mission is to check out the steers wreak
Thanks for posting the vid. Brings back great memories (see SUNYLAB Undersea Laboratory).
Thanks for sharing Dennis, I grew up swimming off my parents beach on the point of Little Neck Penisula, As a diver now I've always wondered what was below the surface all those years swimming and boating around Centerport.
Mark Lawler check out our interactive dive map at Squalusmarine.com. There's a whole mess of videos there. Thanks for the feedback!
Going to diver here later in the day today... Hoping our visibility is as good as it is in this video!
Thanks for the info we are planning to dive in that location
If you find a fish caught on tackle...do you let it go?
where are the seabass?
I ran in to the same thing dark and murky I could not find it
Went today found something totally different looked like an old train fuel tanker
Hey Dave, that's great! Its a huge reef with all kinds of stuff. I would love to go back and see more stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a train tanker. Hope you had a nice dive there!
