I think Drury has an idea. The problem lies within the cap restrictions that the Rangers put themselves in. Last year, no one expected the Rangers to get Mikkola, probably most fans didn't even know who he was. However, Drury had the vision to get a big body dmen and now look at Mikkola. Rangers need an Elkholm,Mikkola on the team. I think Miller can become a big body defenseman as he ages , but Rangers need more. If you look at both Florida and Edmonton, you can clearly see the difference from what the Rangers have. They have a Perry, Evander Kane, Elkhorn. Florida has Mikkola,Tkachuk,Bennet...who do the Rangers have besides Rempe who is still learning, Trouba who is a shell of the player he was when he played in Winnipeg. Trocheck and Goodrow where good, but they need more. I think Drury has visions, but bad contracts like Trouba, Nemeth,.. Mika if he continues his downward spira has hurt this team. Not to mentiom Blais.did not pan out, but i see the ideas of where Drury is trying to go. So while Drury is partly to blame, I don't think he is the necessarily the main reason.
The difference is every season is that their top players aren’t willing to sacrifice their bodies and shy away from contact, ie Panarin, Mika and Kreider. They do not HATE to lose.
The Rangers need to upgrade their defense. Better zone exits will lead to team offense. I believe in this core on offense. It seems like offense was the problem. It wasn't offense that was the problem. Trouba single handedly destroyed this teams Cup chances. He needs to go and we need to fill out the bottom pair with dmen who can actually play hockey.
Really?!? ..OK so when you do get that puck out, it’s then given to an offense that’s too pussy to get from the perimeter into the middle, let alone dirty areas/drive the net. And whyyyy??? Because they’re AFRAID to get hit/physical. Yeah, the core/offense isn’t the problem at all!🙄
