    I've read his book "The Slave".
    I highly recommend this book. If you enjoy reading, and getting a punchline whom, out of context, is meaningless; but as you read his book, Isaac finds a way to make you feel deep emotions and identify with the characters with mere simple words and short sentences, that feel so right and have "been there" all along.
    The incredible sensitivity to life as we know it, the compassion to every living creature is tremendously felt as the author own characteristic, as well as his protagonist. All this is intertwined with very subtle, cynic commentary on our society.
    The book takes place in mid 17th century poland, and tells the story of Yakov, a jewish man being sold into slavery, there he falls for his master's daughter, the emotionally intelligent and good natured women who takes care of him while he's isolated up in the mountains, herding his master cattle. A previous religious knowledge, especially Judaism- add a lot to the reading and processing of this incredible tale.
    The book covers subjects such as religion, marital norms, women rights and even vegetarianism, and somehow avoids a preaching or patronising perspective.
    This book, along with "The Intimate Grammar" by the excellent David Grossman, are in my top 5 books of all time.

      The very fact that most people, including you, don't even see animals as victims, is the best proof that Singer was right. “In their behavior toward creatures, all men are Nazis. @@walter.... I'm glad you got that out of your system, having that frustion kept in the pot is difficult to deal with later on. I agree to what you're saying to an extent. And if we think about it, humans are technically animals, one of the most dangerous and yet caring sentient creatures there are. There well never be true harmony. Humans have this morality compass and because of it, we argue tirelessly about whose right and whose wrong. It's sad really life is precious and should be protected, but we spew anger, confusion, and insanity to others. One of our best quality is to find common grounds try to find alternatives that could satisfy both needs. God bless you and have a lovely day

    Isaac Bashevis Singer his children's book Mazel and Shimazel means everything to me right now it was a book I loved as a little girl but as a woman who is a victim of savage violence at a doctors office in New York where should've been safe, then NYPD joined in breaking laws Internal Affairs protected all crimes including Manhattan DA and by the way and the third year anniversary of no justice I became vegan thanks to Gary Yourofsky!
    If you read that book you'll understand and what's ironic modernize it to today when I blog write years after -- maybe due to the running punched my head my head jerked over and over over 6 1/2 years of insomnia it's getting harder and harder to write and get my words to a lion or a wonder is my phone tampered with when I do my activism on my phone but I think of that book the children's book trying to get your words to align with what you're saying ---
    After years of fighting for justice and writing sometimes I look and see it seems like the opposite of what I'm trying to say when I speak up for myself it's almost like Siri has been tampered with ---
    I think of the children's book and good overcomes evil and there's all this evidence so much evidence of a video of police reports everything that proves criminal wrongdoing and civil rights violations so where is my Justice however long it takes I'm going to get it And I've been tortured and abused for years now harassed online and I witness depositions where people involved and wrongdoing or marking and laughing and committing perjury but I still believe I will get justice
    moving towards seven years no justice two mayors, three police commissioners two heads of internal affairs 3 NYPD police commissioners a dirty DA and his assistant district attorney's have all protected crimes and Zachary Carter the head of corporate counsel has protected or crimes even sending his lawyers and to lie in court and he lied in legal filings !
    The children's book is about having faith.
    Note: I am Jewish and my family came from different parts of eastern Europe all parts were about extreme suffering and oppression and lack of tolerance and cruelty to my Jewish people.
    Some point Natalie moved into my neighborhood in the East Village where I lived f20 years and she did not strike me as a nice person and I don't want to see any of her films but good for her to speak up for animals.
    was treated like a Jew in the early stages of Nazi Germany right here in New York I continue to be treated this way and I'm sure Natalie Portman wouldn't speak up for me if she saw me being beaten right there on the street if she saw me false arrested she would just walk by that's just my opinion .
    It was a running punch to my head like the game knock out the Jew the women in the video if you watch it on UA-cam they all lied us a group the NYPD falsified police report one of the detectives that broke laws party to coercing me is promoted to the NYPD FBI task force !
    I had to get my eye laser repaired it reminds me of something out of a Chaim Potok Look what but with no soul no redemption only ongoing lies and was like you know I did nations of heat I had to get laser surgery to repair my vision both my eyes have a ton of floaters from her jerking my head over and over as I held my bags I was holding all these bags my arm was numb from two injections to remove a cyst in my elbow I was a human pin yada a punching bag a note I wrote my doctor was stolen by the woman who punched me that's how she got my name and she and her boss lied under oath like they're blowing their nose is and I've gotten away with everything because apparently I'm not a human with human rights civil rights and the laws don't protect me I don't have patient rights it's OK to violate them and look what but with no soul no redemption only ongoing lies and it was like you know I did nations of heat I had to get laser surgery to repair my vision both my eyes have a ton of floaters from her jerking my head over and over as I held my bags I was holding all these bags my arm was numb from two injections to remove a cyst in my elbow I was a human pin yada a punching bag!
    If she had done this to a dog if the medical office employed by the Doctor Who didn't fire his employee lied about violence and violating a dog and punching a hole in the retina of a dog hurting the dogs neck and spine they would be arrests but because it's me I'm a Jew I'm lower than a dog !!!! Even here in New York City the misogyny and prejudice against Jews is so extreme and less it's wealthy Jews that can bribe NYPD and politicians and funnel $ to Cy Vance! Audio of Joan Illuzzi lying to me I posted on UA-cam stating they did a thorough investigation when she doesn't know where I live and she doesn't realize I never got a Fed ex these people have no shame no soul their corrupt and if anyone punched a hole in their retina forcible touching assaulted them the way they treated me there'd be arrests!
    Google Dr Fagelman assault..., jewish I love my Jewish people but this rich doctor picked up the phone like he was calling a deli and he got fixing in favors the NYPD joint and violent violent threats to me and I wasn't safe at a doctors because I'm an activist.

      I have three beautiful white tail deer mounts on my walls. They are the work of an ethical taxidermist who only does his job on road kill animals. He has an agreement with highway patrol and other local officials in his rural area so they give him notice to fetch the poor dead animal early enough to be utilized. Not all can be used, depends on the result of impact on the body. My mounts are an Ode to their beautiful lives and a reminder to always be CAREFUL and STOP for animals crossing. They are spirit guardians of my home and I honor their shortened existence by giving them the chance to be long-lived allegories of Earth's beautiful fauna.
      Antlers can be collected in the wild; they shed. No need to murder a deer for antlers... Hunters are psychopaths.

      You don't actually care about humans, just as you don't care about animals. You are just trying to find some ridiculous excuse to justify participating in the killing of billions of innocent beings.

    • @frank_av8tor
      @frank_av8tor 6 років тому +1

      Walter Hi! Thanks for your comment. I have no problem explaining in simple terms the congruency of my views. I'm sure we can both agree that killing baby seals to satisfy someone's vanities is horrible. I hope we can both agree that a baby is (at the very least) just as important as any animal. What I don't understand is when someone says that eating a BLT or a cheese omelet is worse than violently ending the life of an innocent, unprotected individual human being. The way I see it is you can be pro abortion or pro animal rights but not both without some pretty big mental gymnastics.

    • @walter....
      @walter.... 6 років тому

      My views on abortion are consistent with my views on animal rights. Our compassion should extend to any sentient being that can feel pain and doesn't want to die. So the question about abortion is when does an embryo/fetus become sentient, and I'll let the experts decide that.
      So, while I'm against killing an unborn baby that can feel pain, I'm not totally against abortion, if it's done in the early stages of pregnancy. There are also a lot of miscarriages in humans, most of them in the early stages of pregnancy, and as far as we know, at that stage the embryo can't feel any pain.
      ...
      But my point was that you are trying to use this as a justification to keep eating meat and other animal products, thus causing a huge amount of suffering to billions of innocent beings, who were already born into this world.
      To me that too sounds like some pretty big mental gymnastics, an attempt to justify an immoral action with the argument that other people also do other immoral actions.

    • @frank_av8tor
      @frank_av8tor 6 років тому +1

      Walter Nobody needs an excuse to eat meat it's natural, human beings have been doing this for over 2 million years. If you have any doubts as to when human life begins, shouldn't a caring and compassionate person err on the side of preserving innocent life? Still don't see how eating fried chicken or a spoonful of honey is worse than killing a baby in the womb.

      1. The hippopotamus has the largest canine teeth, and that's a herbivore. But even supposing we had teeth that could cut through raw flesh and bones, like a carnivore does, we also have empathy and compassion, we have moral principles, and that's what makes us human.
      Otherwise, we might as well say we have hands that are adapted to strangling other people, or that men have penises that are adapted to raping women, and so on.
      2. If you know of any studies which found that vegetarians and vegans on average live less than omnivores, you are free to show them here. In the meantime, let me remind you that the longest living populations, in the so called blue zones, have a diet that consists mainly of plants, includes many legumes, and very few animal products. May I also remind you of the Adventist studies, which found that Adventists, who are vegetarian or vegan, live longer and are healthier that the rest of the population.
      ...
      There's nothing natural in modern animal agriculture. We are breeding animals and keeping them in concentration camps called factory farms, then killing them by the billions, which is nothing less than mass murder.
      Every 3 days, we are killing a number of land animals equal to the total number of people killed in all the wars in our history. And that doesn't even include the deaths of trillions of sea creatures, who can't even be counted exactly.
      In the process we are destroying nature, cutting down forests and driving wild species to extinction to make room for tens of billions of domestic animals and for growing crops for them, releasing through animal agriculture more greenhouse gases than the combined exhaust of all transportation, dumping huge amounts of waste, thus poisoning the soil and creating ocean dead zones.
      In these conditions it's no wonder that experts are now predicting a meat tax is inevitable in the next few years. www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/dec/11/meat-tax-inevitable-to-beat-climate-and-health-crises-says-report
      ...
      Most people consider themselves animal lovers, they were just indoctrinated to believe that eating meat is normal, natural and necessary, that animals are inferior beings which were put here for our use, and that anyway, they live a good life, and feel no pain when they are killed.
      Just like Germans in the Nazi era were indoctrinated to believe that Jews are an inferior race, and anyway, concentration camps aren't such a bad thing after all.
      In both cases, nothing could be further from the truth.

    • @walter....
      @walter.... 6 років тому

      Rape is natural too. Cannibalism is natural too. That's why we humans made some moral principles, and one of those principles is to not harm others, because we wouldn't want others to harm us. All sentient beings, that can feel pain and don't want to die, fall in the category "others."
      If a shark will kill a human, that isn't a justification for us to kill other, innocent animals. Just like a cannibal killing and eating humans isn't a justification for us to do the same thing.
      And we are more closely related to cannibals (our fellow humans), than to sharks.
      If you still believe in the narrative which says that farmed animals live a happy life, and don't feel pain when they are killed, you should definitely watch this new documentary:
      watch.dominionmovement.com/

      "at least try to save those animals,"
      I try to reduce animal suffering, among other things, by talking to people like you. The idea is to reduce the demand for animal products, thus less animals will be bred into a short life of suffering and then killed.
      And even if you refuse to listen to any arguments, there might be other people reading this discussion, since this is a public forum.

      "when did I said that animals die in a nice place?"
      You did say that the animals we breed are happier than if they were free in the wild. It's interesting that a similar argument was used 200 years ago to justify human slavery: ua-cam.com/video/FlsaFaUSihw/v-deo.htmlm18s
      To understand the truth about how animals are treated, you should watch this documentary which shows the reality of modern animal agriculture. watch.dominionmovement.com/
      "human needs meat to survive"
      For the nutrition part, you should also watch this new documentary which once again debunks the myth that eating meat is necessary for strength and optimal health. It's called The Game Changers.

      "calling billions of people nazis"
      It wasn't me calling people Nazis, it was a Jewish writer and Nobel laureate, who actually lived during the time of the Holocaust. You should also understand that this is just an analogy, it's not meant in a literal sense.

    I respect you Miss Portman, but I disagree. Hunting and fishing licenses are a big part of the income of our national parks. Farmers, Fishermen, and Ranchers have a right to they're way of life too. You might want to consider overpopulation of animals as well. Anyways I respectfully disagree. Have a nice day.

      What about the billions of land animals we torture and kill needlessly, and the trillions of sea creatures too?

      Walter what about the wild pig epidemic in the south?

      Justin Rurd
      I guess the wild pig epidemic must be some sort of moral justification for us to kill and eat trillions of healthy animals who wanted to live?

      Walter I think what we're talking about is two different worlds. You're talking about commercially killing animals, and I'm talking about tagging out during hunting season. What Justin is referring to is the hogs are overpopulated in the south, and they're destroying the land. Justin and I obviously come from a farming /ranching background. Killing animals to provide for your family and what Tyson does are 2 totally different things.
