- After refuging to the drug store, the group of survivors is attacked by walkers. Lee has to first save Clementine then decide to whether saves Carley or Doug. All choices and dialogues from this scene are included in the video.

Lee needed to be fast, if he tried quickly to tell Clem to try save Carley it probably won't work since the walker was very close to Carley when she loaded her gun back up so Lee needed to act fast

There was also a Walker on her foot, so even if she WAS able to kick the Walker approaching her, the Walker on her foot would've bitten her, since she was almost unable to move.
She could’ve hit the walker with the gun too. And Carley and Doug would’ve lived.

Carley doesn't play call of duty zombies so she doesn't know that if u melee attack a zombie on round 1 it will die instantly and give u more points
It's a shame that they both die anyways. It doesn't matter if Carley lives a little longer than Doug or vice versa because Lily shoots whomever you save a little later after this.

@@jameshewitt4088 not everything. They both have did decent purposes. Doug builds a fence whereas Carley does not but is a great shot. They both save you in different ways and die different ways and more but they're only little things.

I think the point of the Stranger is that he's so blinded by his hatred for Lee (since be always blames him for his family dying) that he'll literally blame him for anything. In his mind, everything Lee does is wrong because he isn't fit to take care of Clem, he gets people killed, and he is a bad person. The Stranger will always think the worst of him no matter what.
Pretty nice they added the slow mo and heartbeat, it adds to the fact that this is the first big decision of the game and series and the first one to Lee, probably the most iconic choice.

My reasons to save Doug: He's smart, he knows morse code, he makes an alarm system at the motel, he knows about substance of chalk, he knows if an electric fence can kill walkers, he programmed the universal remote and memorized all the code when he was in AV
My reasons to save Carley: She tells Lilly off, you get to tell the group about your past, and if you save Doug, he wishes that you chose her instead of him.
There are other reasons for both, but I won't say some of them and I'll think of the rest of them.
But regardless of how many reasons, I like, respect and trust both of them equally

@@jc6375 I think what's so unsettling about it is how you see Carley struggle a bit more than Doug. Doug gets caught in the window for a bit, then gets pulled and eaten.
However Carley first gets her hair pulled, is slowly dragged away, tries to pull herself up only to have her hair pulled once more, then the last thing she sees right before dying are 3 walkers latching onto her face. Just seems more horrific to me.

I didn’t though, throughout all of my playthroughs when I was young, I always saved Doug
4:10 is so well directed. Going from a crescendo of screams, walker grunts and unnerving ambience into an almost silent beep really sends chills down your spine, as you know that the time to decide something very challenging is about to commence. This game came out when I was in middle school and I'm a father now, and this exact scene still gives me goosebumps. They don't make games like this no more.
Tbh Doug looks like he's in more trouble but Carley is just a better choice in the long run

Doug is just some out of shape guy who only lasts as long as he could because he had a group of people to protect him. Programming skills are utterly useless in the apocalypse, no electricity, and even if you had some, this is early 2000s tech we're dealing with, everything sucks anyway. Doug isn't a mechanic, he literally fixes the RV by bashing it with a hammer for comedic effect. He never kills anything on purpose and Lee even states in episode one that he feels Doug doesn't have the stomach for being around walkers.
@@thewholehorse7140 You have to sacrifice some thing's, and Doug is more pivotal, can Carla do the stuff he does? No. And in another note: Carla can't kick a zombie. Plus having Doug around has goods--people would want him if tech is around. Doug is willing to die for someone. 2000's technology is useful - if a child like you were not to play with it. Carla dies due to her annoying voice and arguments. Pull that of against a pissed off Governer, who tells her to not talk or debacle, or her allies die with her.
Showing mercy to thing's half brain dead and functional people not only leaves Doug soughtable, but it leaves him vulnerable too. Everything about his skills is what we need. Doesn't sacrifices need to be mandatory for success? No removing Carla for a tech guy for tech parts that'll be a important part, rather than some women who can't put in batteries properly is dumb. Programming saved time right? Noise attracts people--as well with Walkers. So using his abilities for Noise Bombs to distract people is smart. Having support is required too, Carla would die from a onslaught of Walkers. Doug has some keen problem solving skills, and quick thinking. Which one is better? Dumb reporter--or a intelligent "Out of shape" Doug

Doug deserves to be saved simply because Carley could’ve crouched down, pistol whipped the zombie on her ankle, ran back and grabbed a mag from her purse, and get back to shooting.

I think Carley could've taken care of herself with the zombie. She could've *tried* to smack the zombie with her pistol instead of trying to reach for her purse which she knew she couldn't get a good distance.

Honestly I always picked Carley every time I replayed the first season. I prefer that because Carley gets you to open up and be truthful about your past before the walkers and thus keep friends.
Only in one gameplay did I try to do the opposite of my choices: saving Doug, side with Lily, and be an all around asshole. I came to realize that Kenny and Carley are your friends. Doug and Lily are *not* your friends. Doug is only good at making an alarm system which doesn't make a difference, Lily is a bitch and leaves about halfway through the season. Kenny is with you from the near beginning and has your back most of the time so long as you're good to him. So I'll be sticking with Carley and Kenny.

I like both characters and all,but between the two i always save Carley because she's handy with a gun therefore in my opinion she's more useful than Doug especially in situations like when Lee was fighting Andy St. John and when the group escapes the motor inn after the bandits and the walkers attack.

Fun fact you can see Carley or Doug, depending on your choices earlier, dead by the side of the road in the 400 days story and depending on who you saved at the drug store and gets shot later by Lily when you either leave her behind or she steals the RV.
Just after Carley says to Doug that he should know something and the walkers break through the door you can hear her say ‘I love you’ at 2:27 if you listen carefully

When I was a kid and I first played this, it was the scariest scene in a video game.
I saved Carly because she saved us when the walkers were coming and Doug didn't think twice to look at them almost being eaten so yeah that's why I saved carly
I saved Carley for some reasons :
1. A skilled Marksman
2. A badass
3. Kind to Lee and Clementine
4. A fighter
I like Doug too but if I were in that position, I would choose a person who has experience in shooting and has the potential to protect me.
About their situation, if you think Carley could just kick the zombie then you're wrong. Her one leg is being pulled and she used her other leg to support her whole body. If she moved her other leg just to kick the zombie then she will fall down immediately and get grabbed. And if you think she could've just kill the zombie approaching her then no. The zombie will knocked out yes but eventually will come back and come for her again.
As for Doug, I think if he removed one hand of the zombie using his hands and stop the pulling motion by putting his feet between his body and the wall then the zombie would loose it's grip. But yeah it's a panic situation so I understand.
I just hoped if you ever saved Carley, after you gave her the ammo, you immediately went for Doug instead of watching her shoot the zombie. But either way, they'll die in Episode 3 because of Lilly but I just wished they both made it longer.
Remember always saving Carley back when I was 8
Lee could save them both. After he throws the magazine. He is still looking at Carley. I know its like 5 seconds but when you look how Lee saved Doug that 5 seconds I think will be enough to save him.

I don’t see what’s so hard about this choice, I pick Carley every time because she’s pretty much a main character in a way, it’s a better choice in the long run, she has much more character development, with Doug, all you get is mundane dialogue adding nothing to the story, only plus to saving Doug is you get an electric fence, but other than that, it’s really not worth it, Carley does so much more, and you see more of her in the first episode too, thus I choose her.

Pretty sure they could have used the 5 seconds right after saving Doug trying to get to Carley quicker than they did instead of just starring at her then running for her. Could’ve saved both.

I find Doug's death less traumatizing instead of Carley's, plus Doug's death has the famous scream of Wilhelm
Shame they both die, I kinda wished Carley/Doug lived the season or at least made until episode 5.
