Thank you for watching my videos! This channel is dedicated to animal education and improving the lives of captive animals.
    Here’s little about me!
My name is Meghan Arriola and I live in Texas with my husband Jaime, where I dedicate my time to taking care of exotic and domesticated animals on my farm. We run a rescue and sanctuary for animals like alpacas, birds and reptiles. I do animal education presentations for groups and schools. Our alpacas also do events where we are able to teach people about these unique animals. I have used service dogs for medical needs for over 10 years and I am an advocate for assistance animals and mental health awareness.
I am an animal educator that brings science related ideas to an audience from around the world by presenting fun and interesting topics in a family friendly way. Animals touch our lives in unique ways everyday as simply being our pets and companions, but how can we make their lives equally as special now that they live in captivity? My UA-cam channel and blog explore ways to meet this goal by tackling things like animal behavior, human-animal relationships and veterinary medicine. Animal science is a great way to teach people of all ages that education is fun and nerdy is cool.
My previous animal related work experience includes working in veterinary clinics, private zoos, training horses and volunteer work in wildlife rehabilitation, rescue/foster/adoption programs and therapeutic horsemanship for children with disabilities.
When I am not working with animals, I am working at the health care clinic owned by my husband Jaime and I, where we provide services to low income, minority neighborhoods. We have been on the frontlines fighting covid19. I also have a passion for art and I am an award winning painter and photographer and published author. I am naturally very introverted but I am extroverted about sharing my passions and doing my part to make the world a better place!

Niacin is also important for their bill development! (And I keep my ducks water clean. I just rinse it and refill it everytime I walk by. Keep a bucket for dirty water if you need a place to dump it and a bucket of of clean water to fill

Thank you for the information. Today when I was dropping my baby at camp, I found a duckling on my driveway. I went around the neighborhood looking for the mom I also drove to one of our closest lakes and I couldn’t find any ducks at all. I did see a bird flying like circling around the duckling and I’m guessing that maybe this bird took the duckling away from his mom? I’m not quite sure but now I’m trying to figure out what to feed it.

Purchasing chicks, ducks, or goslings in the summer is good for easier care. I personally always buy my birds in early to mid spring because they’ll be full grown adults by next winter. Hens can also be mature and productive in late fall. If you buy chicks in the summer, you will not have eggs before the next spring meaning that you’ll be waiting almost an entire year before you get production. Hens can mature at 5 to 6 months so it’s not a bad idea to time your order so you can get eggs in the same year. I’ve raised three or four clutches of chicks and they do fine in cooler weather as long as their heating is adequate. I raised one batch of chicks last year when temperatures where in the 40s and they’re all grown and laying now. It is stressful for the person keeping them but the chicks don’t seem to care

about the heat lamps- Yes they’re dangerous. In addition I always wondered how they can sleep with his bright lights on them and I always felt bad for those little ducklings. I have mine sitting by my heater and also got it a heat mat that they make beds and it stays at about 103 he doesn’t really feel hot when you touch it but if you leave your hand it for a while it starts to warm up a little and it’s perfect I just put some towels on top and change the tablet daily. As for the mess I have a crate kind of like a guinea pig crate where you can pull the tray out from the bottom to change the shavings but I use the doggie pee padsBecause they are just easier and not as messy and I have a Tupperware lid underneath it food and water so it doesn’t drop all down into the tray and then I have a rubber bathmat over the rest that has holes through it but it’s softer on his feet and walking on wires. I also stole aBig chunk of grass in my apartment complexAnd put it in a mixing bowl with some dirt underneath and he has a little patch of grass and a little place to swim in his crate he’s a pretty happy and spoiled little duckling

Can chicks eat brewers yeast safely?
And are there any grasses that are harmful to ducklings? I have tgis grass that is called fox tail i think and its harmful to dogs/cats with their fur cuz it digs its way in. Maybe when they get their big feathers it wouldn't be harmful? Can ducklings eat veggies as day old babies?
