How much is labor for using new construction windows in a siding application? I now different areas, states, etc. But trying to get accurate pricing from local contractors is painful.
Hi Tory - thanks for asking. That's a hard question to give you a good answer. It makes a difference whether you're a) replacing the siding and windows at the same time or b) keeping your existing siding. We are skilled at removing and replacing existing siding, but it may not be a service that many contractors in your area offer. Sorry we couldn't be of more help!
Finally!, This gentleman knows how to replace windows and answered my question why not just cut the flange off. Nice job! Wish you were in PA! Anderson replacements are just too expensive, intend to do my own.
From all my research, I feel like theres no way a replacement window without a nail flange can compete with the weather sealing properties of a new construction windows. That nail fin is for sure an integral part of the flashing process.
I find that very hard to believe I'm in the industry and too many times I've had to replace sills and legs from new construction installing...in my opinion there are better ways to seal a pocket window vs a new construction that is caulking the blind stops and outside the window and where the capping meets the j channel been doing it for 30 years and never get callbacks for leaks
@@funnelnutz3227If most of your installs are “pocket” windows and not a full pull, how would you find a rotted sill or legs, drywall water damage on the inside? A leak like that could potentially be hidden for a long time before a homeowner sees visible damage.
Dumb question: If your project is to replace a window located in the middle of a long vinyl-sided wall, with existing J-mold already surrounding the old window, can your superior installation method be implemented without removing most of the siding, then replacing it on top of the properly flashed new window?
Hi Michael - Good question. If you want to see how much of the siding/J-channel is removed for installation of a new window, check out this video. It shows a timelapse of the process. ua-cam.com/video/rdZF2xadHJU/v-deo.html
Hi - If you have vinyl siding, there are advantages to pulling the siding to install windows. To see that in action, check out this video with a timelapse: ua-cam.com/video/rdZF2xadHJU/v-deo.html

Thank you for making & posting this video. Great job on those windows. (I wish I could hire you to replace our windows). God[Bible] Bless all your good endeavors.
Thank you! This answers my question that many others do not answer. It seems that the new construction method of installing windows is Better than old. If my house and windows are old, it’s better to start new even if the process not as easy. The main reason why I want a new window is to prevent leaking and drafts.
Hi Vanessa - thanks for watching. It can be a good choice and one we recommend if you have vinyl siding that can be removed and replaced. It's worth asking window contractors in your area if its an option
Great video. My home was originally a replacement of old windows, however, It was determined the house had to be a total tear down and rebuilt. I didn't realize that my replacement windows would be installed and flush totally different than any additional windows I purchased later from the big box store as a "new construction window". My issue now is how to make the interior of the windows when it comes to trim appear to be the same as the replacement windows are flush with the sheetrock while the replacement windows now have a reveal. Any suggestions?
Wow. Great question. We'd need to refer that to our install team. But if you want to send an email to info@customvinyl.net with photos of what you're trying to accomplish we may be able to offer some pointers. Just reference this video in your email.
@@tcroc74A year later, I’m sure you found a solution. Without seeing what you had, I’d venture to guess you needed an extension jamb as part of your finish trim.
I would have loved to have seen the whole process but I get what you are saying.

Thanks Kennedy. We agree! There's a huge advantage to using a nail fin.

@@CVPWindowsDoorsHow would your company address it when the home is brick and the original nail fin is behind the brick?

I do not understand why they would cut it off because they do sell windows with out those things.
