I bot a computer from ebay for $47 with shipping, Put a used rx550 gpu in it. Added a used 500 gig SSD I had. Then bot a $40 dollar Gen4 i7 4770 for the increased thru put. Power supply is 320 watts. I put Linux Mint on last night. Everything works. For Investment $147 I have a low power cheap linux machine. It's an old Hp EliteDesk but it works.

I agree with you 100%. All those details about a virus might be useful if you have the expertise to clean your own system IF YOU GET THE MALWARE, but the most important information is HOW TO AVOID INFECTION IN THE FIRST PLACE. I have dealt with a IT manager who either had ASSperger's Syndrome or he just reveled in being a dick, but if you didn't phrase a question *precisely* to get the answer you are seeking, he would make every effort to evade giving you information and he certainly made no effort to understand what information would be useful or prevent problems in the future. I have no idea if he just too perverse pleasure in F'ing with people, or he was just a clueless idiot with an island of brilliance in the technical computer science field.
A low power, low power ARM-processor laptop would be amazing. Imagine how small and portable you could make it, and imagine the battery life. It would give Chromebooks a run for their money.

Are you discounting the Pi 4 as a low cost low power Linux machine? Are you only counting pre-installed. Most end users do not care a hell of a lot about all that low power in laptop world anyway. And in the non-ARM world I am sure many did what I do and buy used good Windows (originally) laptops and install Linux on them. For instance I got my gen 6 Lenovo Carbon X1 for $330 on ebay that way. Once I put the linux of my preference on it it turned out to be the best as actual on your lap Linux laptop I have owned.
i really like tuxedo, but i live in a shitty country that everything is 100x more expensive because of overtaxation and bureaucracy, and we dont have a reseller here, so i cant get one even if i really like the company. if i someday get to live out of this shithole, i will get one.
