Regarding hunting on Sunday...I have read in numerous accounts he did not call his dogs off the game. They were expected to stay on the trail or at the tree barking until he got there. Ben is considered one of the best houndsmen that ever lived and is well respected in the hound hunting community.
BOY WAS I EVER SUPRIESED TO FIND YOURVIDEO, tonight here on my pc. my father was born in 1923 in new mexico place called silver city. my father uesd to tell us kids story`s about ben lilly he had met him three or four times, the first was when mr. ben stop`d by to visit whith my grand father and spent the night but he slept outside sleeping with pack of hunting dogs all around him on the ground . my father had an interesting life growing up in new mexico and arizona as well, my father at one time worked for a fella named tom three persons an indian feller, did chores for him etc. back in 1968 , our family whent down to new mexico, one summer we went to silver city so my dad could visit his mothers grave. while their we camp`t on the gila river and one day my dad asked me to go with him to look at a cave that ben some times stay`d in when he was their in the area or just passing through. their was still a pair of old boots left in their and some old rile cartrigous as well. well i best stop now been yammering too much as it is, OH yes one last thing he was also known as bee lilly too.
OH I AM SO SORRY I MENT APOLOGIZE FOR MY POOR SPELLING.AT THE TIME OF MY GROWING UP IT WAS HARD TO GET GOOD EDUCATION liveing on the homestead here in alaska.
Thanks Alan for sharing this legendary man life. I don't believe he was pennyless. He got no expeses but cloth and ammonitum. He was a Christian and devoted to the outdoors. I bet he saw Bigfoots in the Mogollon rim.
Anyone who says God speaks to them is off-balance...as is killing over 600 mountain lions. This was a very depressing story of a man that should not be held up as a great man but as a butcher of God's animals. This is a shameful tale.
Thanks!
Thank you
Great story Thanks Alan.

Hunted bears loved dogs
Right
If he didn't smoke why is there a cigarette in his mouth?
Thanks for sharing
It was a cinnamon stick, he was fond of them.
Im sure he panned ALOT of dust in his spare time. I Doubt he died broke...but forgetful very likely
Lol. Right
Hunting = kiling = murder.
Ok
Why did he think he needed to kill all those animals?
Predators
Bounties. The government paid hunters to kill predators as they ate livestock.
Eat?
650 lions? Pregnant and knew when they were due?😂
Lol

Yes it's sad
You don’t know what you’re talking about.
Sheer comment of pure ignorance!
