  • Ralph Gracie (born May 25, 1971) is a Brazilian martial artist. Grandson to the great Carlos Gracie. Like other members of the Gracie family, he competed in mixed martial arts. He is the son of Robson Gracie. In sharp contrast to the typical "passive" Gracie approach, Ralph's aggressive and often brutal approach earned him the nickname of "The Pitbull". He has also taught former UFC welterweight and lightweight champion, BJ Penn, when he first came to California from Hawaii.

A ko-uchi-gare, a morote-gari and a harai-goshi. Congratulations! You are at the level of an average yellow belt judoka at the time.

Yes, but on the ground, a black belt judoka would be a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The best thing would be to learn both to be complete.

@@mafia3941 Ha ha! Keep believing that. I am a blue belt judoka with about 50 fights and a one time regional champion, but under Judo rules as they were back in the golden days of Judo.
However, I decided to bet on Muay thai and have around 25 fights under different kick-boxing rules, ten of whom are "diploma matches". So no, I am no Beast, but not jealous either, and I have my opinions. Take it or leave it. Back in the early 90s I am pretty sure that I would hold my own against most BJJ purple belts and even some brown belts. I was a ne-waza specialist.
