    Lowe's is putting quality production value and content into their UA-cam Channel. Why only a handful of views per video? These are actually pretty good. Building Science is something more people are becoming aware of and it is something more actual tradesmen and women need to be on the forefront of, not just the architects, project managers and builders.

      I agree

      I think it's because typical homeowners will not understand the actual cost of doing things right. Always trying to find the cheapest option both the homeowner and the handy pro end up unknowingly ignorant. Doing things the right way gets expensive.

    Good info for homeowners, even if not doing the actual installation.

    VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) He may have said it before using the acronym. Some interesting info out there on Indoor Air Quality.

    Pretty sure the host meant to say Carbon Monoxide and not Carbon Dioxide. Great video!

    • @AngelofOntario
      @AngelofOntario 11 місяців тому +1

      Were it carbon monoxide, it would put you to sleep for good, since it’s not supposed to be leaking from ANY fueled appliance. He meant carbon dioxide as a build up of stale, regular air, which causes mold.

    The joist hangers at 11:41 are obviously smaller than the joist. What is the reason 2x4 joist hangers were used instead of hangers to match the 2x6 framing?

  • @ВікторКолчин
    @ВікторКолчин Рік тому +1

    i would cover that visible frame with shingle strip.

    • @AngelofOntario
      @AngelofOntario 11 місяців тому +1

      If you did that, the water would run under the strip then, wouldn’t it?

    Why didn’t the home owner opt to put a window in the wall there?

    Will this work via Bluetooth on cellphones while you’re home, or do you have to have home wifi? I know if it pops up Notifs on your phone when you’re away, it’s using a wifi or Home connection to the internet. I’m asking if it can work when you don’t have/can’t afford home internet?

    • @ipodman371

      if you can afford an old router from goodwill or other thrift stores then you can set up a smart home network without internet access. However the appliance may need internet access to function properly and that will have to handled in a case by case basis but if you cant afford home internet then i wouldnt recommend home renovation. 1 skylight installation could buy a whole year of basic internet access

  • @questateyahoo

    Nice idea but 2k for any kind of skylight is a bit much.
    Great video though, thanks

      hey don't worry you got a 30% Obama credit.. new green jobs! Only $1400 LOL! Now we need to get everyone putting in skylights and we can solve the unemployment problem.

    The host talks WAY too much. Reminds me of Bob Vila and how he would ask a tradesperson a question, but then talk over them just to show off how much he knew. I love the long videos on this channel, but this host bothers me.

      @lawrencedimmick4852 5 років тому +1

      The extremely knowledgeable builders and renovators that are interviewed in these videos have so much knowledge to share. Sometimes, even the most knowledgeable people have a hard time articulating their knowledge. We appreciate being able to help them get the point across. One of the great parts of working on a TEAM with people who have versatile and unique skills, is that not everyone does the same job as well as someone else.

    • @jupiterdior
      @jupiterdior 4 роки тому +2

      @@whitbeckconstructionllc9043 I agree! Not everyone is necessarily the best at talking. I think the host is hot and also does a great job of explaining these super complex things to the audience, while also providing some details that the tradesperson may not define explicitly since they're so used to not having to explain to total noobs like us lol
