I lived in Napa for 27 years. Some of my favorites are the Rutherford Grill and Tra Vigne. For wineries, I'm partial to Sterling Vineyards and V Sattui. V Sattui is a great place for a picnic. They've got a great deli. If you've got the chance, take a hot air balloon, glider ride, or a mud bath. Enjoy.
You're welcome. There are lots of fun places to visit. Vintage 1870 in Yountville is a small mall that was built into an old vinery and has unique shops. I worked at the Hotel St. Helena for 8 years. It was built in 1881. All of the mud bath places are in Calistoga and they have glider rides. Calistoga Sparkling Water is made there. The Oakland Raiders also practice there. There's a lot more to do than go to the wineries.
We're going to Napa this weekend to celebrate our 30-year-anniversary!! We want to try some of the restaurants you mentioned and maybe get off the beaten path as you suggest. Can't wait to eat some really good food!! Ad Hoc for sure, and Model Bakery and The Pearl Restaurants? Getting some ideas, and your video helped me a lot. Thank you!!
Sacramento Airport is the only way to go. I fly in every week for work. It’s an hour and 15 minute drive to Yountville. Napa is about an hour drive and it is all straight aways with no tolls. San Fran was taking me 2-3 hours to drive because of the bridges and traffic. Hotel Yountville or The Bardesson is the only way to go. Check out Lucy’s for breakfast. The best hiking is at Oak Hill Mine Trail in Calistoga, Homestead Trail at Lake Berryessa or Lake Hennessey Moore Creek Park. Take lots of water and a gps. Easy to get turned around and the is no cell service out there. It is super beautiful. I’ll hike for hours and see one or two people. Sometimes I don’t see anyone. Take a first aid kit because it’s just you and your thoughts out there. Yountville is super low key with a small town feel. But don’t speed because there is a Sherrif’s office in the middle of town. Please don’t drink and drive. Lots of bad accidents on Silverado Trail with people pulling out of wineries.
Suggest using Evans Airport Service between either San Francisco Airport or Oakland Airport and Napa. It costs only $40 each way per person. Alternatively, just use Uber or Lyft between the airport and Napa if you are a group of two or more.
We visit Napa every year (from Louisiana). We prefer to fly into Sacramento. Easy to get in and out of and only 53 minutes to downtown Napa. Some of our favorite wineries are Trefethen. Amizetta, Far Ninette, Caymus, Etude, Black Stallion and Odette. Visit Prager if you like Port. You really can’t go wrong visiting any wineries but we recommend reservations. Favorite restaurants include Pasta Prego, Cole’s Chop House, Mustards, Il Posto Trattoria, Bouchon and Rutherford Grill. We love Ad Hoc as well but the cost for dinner is now $75.00 per person (still a bargain for the amount of food they serve). Make sure you go there hungry!
Delectus Winery off hwy 29. Allora, Reverie 2, Trujillo (which is the winemaker for sequoia grove side project) James Cole, AXR, Volker, and Pride mt. Are all great places to taste wine. Also don’t fly into Oakland. Fly into Sacramento. No tolls, less traffic, and a nicer airport.

Next time you come to Napa we got a new restaurant in Napa it's on South sosco avenue and armola and it's called huckleberries so next time you come to Napa I recommend that you go there you will not be sorry

Yikes, you make us sound like Florida! We don't have toll roads in the Bay Area or anywhere in CA. We have Express lanes but they are only available if you have a FasTrak account. We have *Bridge tolls* and in the Bay area there are MANY bridges due to LOTS of water including a large delta. LOL, your gps must have had you go 70 miles East to Stockton so you could cross the Sacramento river at the Rio Vista bridge which doesn't charge toll. I like to go this way when I'm coming back from LA or Vegas. No tolls on the way back because the toll is only one way. If you are visiting San Francisco from Napa, you can avoid a double toll by going into the city over the Oakland bridge and back to Napa over the Golden Gate. GG bridge is the highest toll (nearly $10 by 2023!), so avoid it traveling from Marin to SF.
