This shows why Sean Hayes deserved every Emmy he got for this show. W&G had a lot of A-list guest stars (Cher, Matt Damon, Patti Lupone, etc) and it's always Sean who is perfectly controlling the comic timing.
Will and Grace had so many great guest stars but this one really stood out because of the interaction between Sean Hayes and Cher. Truly one of my favorite episodes.
She has to, she was married to Sonny. & friends with Joan Rivers, Cher gave her grief if there were no Cher jokes in her show, Cher knew ANY publicity was good publicity! Worked for Joan, Prince Charles invited her to his 2nd wedding & Obama wrote a lovely note to Melissa when her Mom died - & Joan was hateful to all of them! But funny, of course. & they got it. Like Cher is getting it here...
Hilarious scene! My husband and I didn't realize the magic of Cher until we saw her in concert. We had 2nd or 3rd row seats and when she walked out I unexpectedly started to cry and then when she caught eyes with my husband for more than a second, he started yelling all excited "she's looking at me, she's lookin at me!". Just minutes before the show we thought it was kinda silly how these two guys behind us were so excited saying it was the best day of their entire lives and we ended up being the giddier ones!!

I know my mom took me to see her years ago when I was 12. It was her living proof/farewell tour of 2002. I went in not knowing much about her besides the song believe and the experience forever changed my life. Literally gave me the courage to come out to the world at a time when it was still very dangerous to do so.
Fun fact - that's legendary makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin sitting at the table behind Cher. He was there to do her makeup and they figured they may as well let him stay on set rather than keep going back and forth to touch her up for the scene. RIP. :(
