I used to work on the south side of Route 309 at Ingersoll Rand Construction Equipment and I remember every Wednesday afternoon the whole facility would shake when they would do their weekly blast. I never got used to it, until we moved to California! Tom
If that's the quarry that Upper State runs next to, I use to drive past it to work everyday and one day they had the one lane blocked because it had caved in. I never rode in the right lane after that.
We got same in montreal, quebec miron and franconia both closed now but same layout.I work 1976 at miron the plant was running flat out due olympic 1976.the 1980s due recession the market drop a lot so both close. Now one miron is full garbage now.they use gas from garbage heat building now.
I worked in open pit Quarry like this one for 10 years and for 10 years we were filling at least 6- 10 holes a year, because the hole gets deeper, tunnels do not create sink holes!!!
@@chazman4461 In the eastern U.S. a lot of sinkholes happen when ground water disappears, as quarries go down deeper and deeper the ground water will drain to the lowest point leaving voids. When the voids can no longer handle the ground pressure they collapse making sinkholes.
When they close this quarry, their going to flood it and build the world's tallest high dive, just like the quarry in Buckingham just about a mile off 413 on Upper Mountain Rd. Does anyone know the quarry I'm talking about?
I Have Never Understood Why The Mining Industry Doesn’t Use Conveyors To lift And Carry The Product To The Surface, It’s Way Cheaper, Less Dangerous. To me that just Makes Sense To Use Mechanical Means VS Human Drivers on Those Narrow Passages.
Shhh, you haven't a clue...The people that run mines, are no dummies...If a conveyor is logistically a better idea; they use it...Conveyors are used more often in strip mines When a bagger is sending overburden or material to be processed.
wow!
I drive by this quarry all the time and had no idea how large it is. Thank you for sharing!
I hauled alot of materials out of this quarry,,most all the concrete and stone came from this Quarry to build the SURROUNDING COMUNITIES,,,
Wow, that's a deep quarry! Never knew about it As a contractor since the 80's in philly, I've been up that way too.. Thanks for the upload.
Interesting, it would have been nice to have some details about the quarry. Age, depth, product, etc..
So…….look it up. Information is available in the same time frame as it took for you to post😁😁😁

Can you please film Glasgow's Mccoy quarry between Conshohocken and King of Prussia and their Catnac quarry in Malvern PA. ?
Because you asked, I will!
WOW... that's amazing !!!
How deep is it, and when digging begin ??
Very interesting 🤔
Thanks 👍
Gonna make for one heck of a swimming hole someday.
This reminds me of the South Holland quarry. Driven by it several times not knowing it was there.
What exactly do thet excavate ? Just aggregate ?
Just IMAGINE the Amount of Material that has ALREADY been REMOVED !
now that is one big dig
Deep is the word.H&K?

In a thousand years from now, what will this place look like?
How low can they go?
I used to work in the industrial park just south of there and had no clue it was there.
Yes, it was there for 150 years

They have the good Unions down there and they are good to work for.
When they turn it into a dump I wonder how long it will take to fill up
What is the rock?It looks like limestone. Has anyone found dravite?
Aren't they about out of space?
How big are the sink holes close to it!!!
There are no sink holes because there are no tunnels.

I hauled plenty of material out of this place ...
If you’ve ever seen a fuel tank and a DEF tank down in a quarry someone has to fill them. That’s what I get to do, not a huge fan of those haul roads.
similar to one near Chicago
Appears to almost be bottomed out?

Once they bottom out the neighbours won’t have far to go to toss their garbage in!

Conveyors need a lot of maintenance. Expensive belts that wear out and must be replaced every so often, etc.
China made a beautiful hotel in an abandoned quarry.
Seems to me like they've already dug about as deep as they realistically can.
