Just a disclaimer: this book does NOT contain TAB. However, the information it presents is well worth the effort of reading. I do not profit from you buying this book either, just want to share great materials for you to study.
@@NathanBortonMusic I really like the Comping one best, because I've always thought that comping was the best part of playing. Yes, I'm strange. The Daily Workout one is great too.
great lesson! and I am now a subscriber :) I don't understand the expanding chords in the first example of expanding chords... are the notes played in your example @1:42 the same as what Barry plays but a different octave?
Thanks Nathan, I am so happy to have come upon your channel...I love your content...it feels and sounds like made to measure for my next levels transitioning, I just purchased the Barry Galbraith book from your link, you're doing a nice job...Keep up the good work
Your way of breaking down the BG arrangements into these concepts is very helpful, Nathan. Incidentally, in Out of Nowhere I used to play the Gmaj 7 shapes in the first 2 bars in the third position but now I see that your version with the top notes on the 2nd string matches what BG is playing . However for the Bbm7 Eb7 in bar 4, I think Barry has the top notes on the 1st string (and this is easier for me at least to execute). I concluded the numbers BG sometimes places above the stave indicate the string the top notes are played on. Its not explained in my Aebersold edition but maybe it was indicated in books 1 or 2 which I don't have.
Hi Bill. Thanks for the insight! Yes those shapes are pretty strechy. I'll try them out on the top string set and see if that easier. I wish the came out with a version that includes TAB for times like these are reading chords for guitar with notation can be problematic. Glad your diggin the BG videos though!

I’ve had this book for a while, is comping is amazing
For sure!
Just started this book and your explanations are really helpful. Much appreciated.
Great to hear! Thanks for watching!
Very good lesson. I have worked on his whole series and love them all. Nice handkerchief also; very suave.
I still need to work on the soloing book! Which one was your favorite?
