I'm so glad I had the privilege to have worked with her at the SARS 1:99 Concert. She was such a nice person and an inspiration! I was so sad when she passed and helped by working at her funeral handing information updates to all the reporters. My one last job to say goodbye to her. 😥
thankyou 🙏helping her lend her 啊hand
That’s amazing
Hk golden era ended in 2003. All the great either died that year or retired all the same time. Forever gone
Mui belongs to another time. Like the city she grew up in, she no longer exists. The memory is kept alive in the hearts of those who knew her, and Hong Kong, in better times.
yes
She embodied the spirit of Hong Kong. H.K. rised from a humble beginnings and achieved economic prosperity and became the “pearl of the East”. Anita liked H.K. had never lost the hard working ethics, generosity and empathy towards others.
She is the daughter of Hong Kong. We will always be grateful to her contributions to H.K. 😢
She is a Pop of Queen of Asia, when she got cancer still singing on stage for the fans, she is a powerful women in the world,my forever idol 💜🥰
She is well loved because she valued people. Be it fans, family or friends. Basically the kind of people you want to have around to cover your back in life when you needed them to. Such people are too few and hard to come by in life no matter what era we are in.
No one cares what u think . Go back bot
Anita and Leslie were on a whole other level when it came to cantopop… I think 四大天王 were the only ones that could come close to it!
Oh I loved her in Ghana. Back then as a teen we didn't know cantopop all we knew abt Chinese people was tbe martial arts movies, we sadly stereotyped all Chinese people as one. Her movies with Jackie Chan were sooo popular in Ghana. When internet was common I googled and was so sad she had passed. May she rest well. 🇬🇭
I’m sad and proud of her at the same time. She’s the best of the best pop diva!🙏🏻
She was such a strong & legendary women. A national treasure
come on.
She's an amazing legend
Miss her much .. miss Leslie too ..
Anita Mui is always a super star, a legend like nobody can replace her charm ever ever ever in Hong Kong !!!
When I was in Hong Kong, I did meet her once to get her autography & shake her hand..
really
Her story will always be remembered.
I lived in Hong Kong during the 80's and I remember my dad telling me when he came home one day that he had run into Anita Mui on the street. When he got excited, she very nicely and sweetly told him shush so as not to attract attention. I was not a fan of Canto-pop so had no idea who she was. Also, Leslie Cheung jogged passed me and my friend on a hill one sunny day. Once again I had no idea who he was but my friend did and so did a bunch of excited girls behind us, lol. This is my first time hearing about his suicide, may they both rest in peace.
The title, "Daughter of Hong Kong" suit her.
She is as great as, as beautiful as, as attractive as Hong Kong.
The forever shinning pearl.
Thanks Anita for giving us the best you had … thank you
The Madonna of Hong Kong ❤
I am surprise. I saw her memorial place in Hong Kong Up The mountain (Giant Buddha) when I was in Hong Kong. The lot she bought was VIP, entire space also whole family lots. She is an iconic queen female artist on her era 80's. Her songs were timeless. Her voice is special. And she is also a great actress. Her movies are awesome. Maybe this memorial outside space is for public paying tributes, not the one memorial space on the HK mountain of the Giant Buddha was her private memorial space.
miss these legends of Hong kong singer
She is an absolute legend and icon, can't believe next Saturday (30th) will mark 20 years since she left us. My favourite song of hers will always be 夕陽之歌 💯
Cant wait 2 watch TVB special on Anita 20th and see if they can top that 10th anniversary show in 2013 haha
我爱那首歌!@@szewei85
She is so talented and very kind 👍🏻💖 Miss her so much 💕
She was truly brave and independent, she didn't obey anyone and compassionately made her kingdom of fame and charities.
Sadly, Very few HK ppl today are anywhere like her.
All HK and Chinese are like that
Leslie and Anita irreplacable haha
Anita and Leslie are the legend of HK entertainment industry and beyond.

My idol and role model she lived such a life that showed you both the ups and downs 😊
Among females Anita Mui and Lin Dai made history in hongkong during their funeral processions. The whole of hongkong mourned for their passing and flooded the streets of hongkong as people walk out into the streets in waves to pay their respect and say goodbye to them.
Go back home kid . No one needs your validation
Yeah we don't need angols validation
Bigger than yellow umbrella movement in 2019 haha
❤love her
What a legend. She is such an inspiration.
i grew up listening to some of her hits back in 80's, always thought she was the Asia's Madonna
Rest in power, Anita. ❤
what a passionate life dedicated to showbiz
We missed the HK Queen of Pop👩🏻🎤
not only as singers, but just feel these artist all very educated and well spoken. the way they speak so clearly when singing, just nothing compared to todays
I know her mostly from her 20-year film career and her wide range of performances in all different genres of films, something touched on only lightly in this piece, but I was glad to learn more about her superstar pop music career from this. I particularly appreciated the reference to Momoe Yamaguchi, another favorite of mine.
Legend
anita forever!
a superb documentary......she is gone but not forgotten......
No matter the West or East the eighties was the best decade.
There will never be another Anita Mui. What an amazing person.
Great presentation of one's life.
If any hong kong people or anyone else is reading this and you think hongkong or your homeland is dead and this cause you sadness and anguish try not to think in this way. Your homeland is not dead it is changed instead. Nothing remained the same in this world forever and time marches on without waiting for anyone.
A lot of places in this world have also seen changes already. May you know peace when you are able to direct your thinkings and feeling in another direction.
Sounds like buddhism lol
❤❤❤
Anita Mui
October 10, 1963 - December 30, 2023 (40 years old)
no one out there deserves the title more than her
There are numerous mega stars in HK, but it is only one "The Daughter of HK"--Anita Mui.
*Anita Mui is the Madonna of the East*
I love listening to HongKong singers from the era of Zhou Xuen on the 50s of Shanghai and HongKong. The songs of that era of the late 40s -60s are are truly memorable. It was a terrrible Time when China was invaded and
occupied by the west and Japan. But inspite of the gloom and oppression from the west, the the film industry under the Run Run Shaw brothers really opened up theme of challenging social à n d economic repression. I remember only a few names of the actresses, Song Titles and Singers of that time -
Zhou Xue
Li Li Huas
Lin Dai
Grace Ke Lan
Yueh Tung
Yu Ming
Xiao FungFung
The band and three modern jazzy- Chinese fusion songs and music are
unique. they Some of the unforgettable Songs loved it and sung by 4 generations are -Tian Tian yaya
-Wu Yueh da Fung
-Cha Cza Cha
- Bu Liao Qing
- Wei shim Mo Yau Tui Ni Tiao Yen Lei
- Yueh Lai Xiang
- Ren Shou Ren Sen Ru Meong
- Wei Shenmo Ni Bu Wei lai
-Ze Lu Dao Piao ya piao Lang da Lang
*My Chinese will be greatly improved if the
recording of these ungu forgetable 50s-60s Shanghai-HongKong songs provide the Chinese language written clearly
UTube and Utuber.
Thank you so much for putting out your recording.
Anita는 사후 20년이 지나도 내게 영감과 존경을 주는 아티스트이자 인권운동가였고 최고의 스타입니다. 내 생애 최고의 스타 당신은 영원합니다.
Ann Mui Oi-fong and Anita Mui Yim-fong was a Guangdong province of mainland Hongkongers 🇭🇰 singer, songstress, actress former the "Femme Fatale" stereotype, or archetype. 😶
伤心😢
Thats the best title: Daughter of Hong Kong
There was no female artist before her and there will never be another able to surpass what she had achieved and contributed to the industry. There is one and only Anita Mui.
Teresa Teng: Hold my beer!
@@tliew3846not even close to anita
@@YorgosL1 LOL. Just search on UA-cam, how many videos of Teresa Teng vs how many of Anita. Don't get me wrong, I love Anita, but Teresa Teng is just above everyone else.
@@tliew3846 teresa teng is a one hit wonder. I only know that one famous ‘moon’ song which get the most views. anita mui search her under her chinese name … plenty of video and views. She is more popular than teresa teng dude. Who are you kidding. She even has her own movie and statue in HK. Where is teresa tang ? Compare a taiwan singer to a HK singer at the time is not on the same level bro. She can sold out auditorium and her friend in the industry still host concerts for anita mui every once in a while to comrades. She is too famous.
@@YorgosL1 I know Hong Kong people think that they are the center of the world, but trust me Teresa Teng is much more popular - even within Hong Kong. It is said that in Asia in the 80s that while Deng ruled China by day, Teng ruled the night, and not just China, but everywhere with a Chinese community. Even now - many singers imitate her styles and sings her hits. I don't see as big a following for Anita.
Next make video about wong ka kui beyond
Wow I have tears seeing them celebrate her, even though she passed so long.. humans are lovely 😊😊😊
Keeping it real….
@4:11 thats not anita, thats 陳慧嫻
The topic at that moment was the voice of the modern women through music. Pricilla's song silly girl was just an example from that generation.
1:53 PLEASE LOVE EM WHILE THEY HERE. ANYONE. APPRECIATE ALL ENERGY SHE HAS GIFTED THIS REALM #WLRz®️
Any Tar Mooi

I'm very surprised for a big star like her that she doesn't have a big burial plot like Teresa Deng.
Kathy chow 🙏🕊💐
We missed her. Chow can reunite with her Co-Star. She worked with Mui in Fight Back to School 3 🎞️
THE BELOVED DAUGHTER OF HK
The irreplaceable icon
Anita & All The Other Greatest HK Singers of All Time
Indeed gave us that Golden Era
Where we had the BEST music ever
A priceless privilege & a great honour in our lives to be entertained by such powerful & unforgettable artistes.
Music can never be the same again ...
They have given us an immensely precious music era which will be cherished in our hearts forever!
💞❤ 🎵❤🎼❤🎶❤️💞
If only she had gone to cure her cancer, she will be still alive today
It's Mui (mooi) not Moi....
Paula Tsui also had a low pitched voice. I love that kind of voice.
It would be nice if the narrator can at least get her name right. She was Anita Mui, not 'Moi'. If you can't pronounce the Cantonese 'Mui', try the Mandarin 'Mei' or just Anita. It is so disrespectful to get her name wrong, in a video dedicated to her.
♥♥♥
It’s ‘mai’ in my language
😢
He is not saying her name correctly.
At least get a narrator who can actually pronounce her name correctly!
I am a hongkonger, I have or had no daughter.
Why did he pronounced her name 'Moy' ?! it is 'Mui' , he knows better !
Anita Mui and Teresa Tang never went to Chyna to earn rmb. Respect. ❤❤

Agreed . They became chinese as all hongkongers
Except pajeeds who e don't allow
Please learn to pronounce Anita’s last name right. It’s not said like “moy”.
In a way, I'm glad Anita is not around today to see what Hong Kong has become under Chinese dictatorship. She would be appalled and heartbroken to see that the freedom and liberty that she valued so much and fought so hard for has now been destroyed.
Who?
Someone cherished
I'd initially wanted to watch this clip but stopped within 1 minute. The narrator butchered Anita's surname.
04:13 this is not Anita this is another famous singer, Priscilla Chan. Lol
0:27 TYPE IMPACT
Same age and also the same reason of death as Miki Matsubara. Parents remember to vaccinate your daughters against HPV. Sadly the vaccine wasn't available when those singers were girls.
It's not normal that the biggest Hong Kong superstars are made before 1997. The peak of cantopop, great movies,... in an free atmosphere with the belief that growth is endless. All the actresses, actors, singers wouldn't be possible nowadays. The Hong Kong broadcasters of today are all chained by mainlands politics and producing mediocre products and artists.
