    Nice video. Do you need the D tuners for this song and others such as earls breakdown? Or are They just more helpful? Ive seen people use forwards and backwards slides instead of tuners as well

    • @JimPankey

    You have a Stelling? Why on earth are you still playing that Recording King?! Just kidding, lol! How do you mount your camera? It seems to move with the banjo like it's mounted to it. Great lesson, by the way!

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  7 років тому

      +Nashvolk5 I've had the Stelling since 1982; it was my primary banjo for a very long time. Camera mount... It's just hand held by a student most of the time. I used UA-cam's stabilizing feature if they were pretty jerky, so it looked in on the banjo and everything else looks like it moves around. Try not to get seasick! :)
      Glad you liked the lesson. Hopefully I can get motivated to post a few more soon.

    Could you tell me how to set my D tuners there's two set screws there's a high note and a low note could you tell me what the tuning is no one has told in any of their videos how to set them or where to sell them thank you for your response back

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  7 років тому +2

      +Darren Hoffman Loosen all four side thumbscrews one-half a turn. The Keith Tuners will operate like standard tuning pegs.
      2. Tune the banjo to the open G tuning (second string - B. third string - G). Firmly tighten the black side thumbscrews, which will set the high stops. Now, tune the second string down to A and the third string down to F# (put the banjo into open D tuning) and firmly tighten the uncolored side thumbscrews. This will set the low stops. The tuners will now operate as “D-tuners”. and will not turn past the high or low stops.

    You’re too fast paced for a beginner like myself to understand each note. You’re doing fine for more advanced players, but at least play at dummy speed first.

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  3 роки тому +1

      If you are a beginner, then this tune is not for you. If you're ready for this tune, then you're ready for it at the slow speed I demoed it at.
      If that's not slow enough, then you'll need to develop more skill. Or... you could use UA-cam's slowdown feature and slow it down to 25%.
      Or... you could do like I did and learn it from the Flatt & Scruggs version at full speed.
