  • I drive a 1971 International Loadstar 1700 for my first time as we go from one field back to the farm. We are using it as a tender truck to keep the sprayer going.

    I’m in a family concrete company and we use this for hauling old concrete. Over 300,000 miles and starts right up every time. This vehicle is a tank and is fun to drive in for how old it is lol

    One of the best and most common "farm" trucks still used.

    I Wrenched on some 1971 and 1974 Corn Binders on the Ohio Turnpike. Also wrenched on them at a couple of dealerships. Thanks for sharing.

      im about to repower one of these with an optimax 2 stroke gas engine of about 3.2L as it can make much more power power than a 6v53 detroit of the same size and dont give all this low end torque bullshit1 Power is what moves mass and its oil injected without all the this wet sump VRO crap!

      @@ryanregister495 Some kind of plate to mount to the transmission like Ruduzon did with his evinrude V8. i have both a 4L small block Johnson v8 2 stroke sid oiler and an 8v92. I might want to run ceramic bearings in my 8v92 when i go to rebuild it. Are you running ceramic bearings in your 4-53 2 stroke?

    Neighbors had an IH grain truck, don't know the model number. I hauled a couple of loads of beans with it. It was a good truck till you wanted to stop. Just about had to Fred Flintstone it. lol The inside of your truck looks great for its age. Must have been well cared for.

    The speedometer goes to 100 MPH. Holy Shit! A few years later, IH and Stewart-Warner toooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnned it dowwwwnnnnn, to 80 MPH, which it should always have been. Can you imagine how f*cking dangerous it would be to haul a 1,500-gallon tanker at 100 mph? Suicidal.
    That looks like a Ford radio. Nice old truck.

  • @finlandfarmer1860

    Do farms in your region have their own wells or is water distributed through a community pipe system (don't know if that's right words for it)? Filling those tanks require either a good flow of ground water or some dollars for community water?

    • @thedonleroy
      @thedonleroy 7 років тому

      We usually fill our water tanks for spraying at our local grain elevator.

    • @BornToFarm101MN
      @BornToFarm101MN  7 років тому +1

      we have about 6000 gallons of water storage at the farm; leave a garden hose in it (well at the farm) for a few hours when we need to get some filled up.

    awesome I have a 72 ih 1800 gas also is your shifter stuck on low or high side? mine got stuck on the low side the other day and can't get it out! once I do I think I'm going to make it on the high side only! great video!

    • @BornToFarm101MN
      @BornToFarm101MN  7 років тому

      ummm, I'd have to ask. I'm not sure, I got it going about 45-50 and that felt like all it wanted to do. Maybe that's as fast as they used to go? Do you think you could go that fast in low range?

    • @garthks
      @garthks 7 років тому +2

      That's about top speed in low range, but with you carrying a liquid load, and not being baffled, you're better off staying in low range, and keeping the speed down, so you can slow down, and stop when need be. You do need to learn how to downshift properly though, instead of kicking it into neutral, and relying solely on your brakes to slow you down, and stop you, because if your brakes ever fail, and you can't down shift to slow down, you're not going to be able to stop if you need to. Have someone teach you how to use your RPM's and double clutch to downshift for your own safety, as well as the others on the road.

    • @BornToFarm101MN
      @BornToFarm101MN  7 років тому

      Ya this ones stuck in low range. I was downshifting with this rig. It's all good, we all start somewhere

    • @derektarabetz6458
      @derektarabetz6458 6 років тому +1

      Make sure to check the fuse in the glovebox for the high/low shift, that's a common issue when those trucks get stuck in high or low.
