Love those apothecary cabinets. My chiropractor is Chinese, told me about how as a child his mother took him to an old wise man with row upon row of bottles and potions and drawers, the guy looked at his tongue, put together a concoction for his mother to administer. It's quite fascinating, their medicinal knowledge goes back centuries and is something we shouldn't lose or dismiss as witchcraft or unscientific. Other fascinating pieces of furniture to me anyway, are the desks that architects use with all those shallow drawers for writing and drawing implements. They may have tops that tilt up as well to create an angle. I saw another miniaturist modify dollar store items multiple ways, might have been Real Life Dollhouse Miniatures, but I'm not sure. I think she used medicine capsules, either from meds from the Dollar store that were dumped out, or empty capsules you can buy. She cut off the rounded ends, sliced those in half to make half moon drawer pulls and painted them like metal . But they dissolve in water, right? So you'd need to be careful not to get them too wet. I think it's just ingenious how people use tiny bits for other purposes.
I think I remember seeing that video about a year ago. That's a good point about them being water soluble. I never thought of that. I thought the clay cup pulls were easy to make and the extra steps could be excluded. Even just sharing one at the end of a Popsicle stick and painting it would look great. I just always have to add one more thing...

@@queencityminisI think what she is suggesting is that you post links to the materials that you use, and create a master list of those things, so people can know what to get if they want to recreate or imitate a project. If you have a business Amazon account, you can also create affiliate links to products that you use (or similar to what you use) that other folks can buy. In part 2, I filled it with furniture and lots of handmade accessories. It was so much fun. I haven't counted but there have to be 20 or 30 tutorials in that video and they're all simple and easy. I made stacks of books, scrolls, candles, a crystal gazing ball, shelves, a hanging witch's robe, dried herbs, a little bird's nest tucked behind a shutter...so much fun
I've been interested in getting into miniatures for a little bit. I collect these figurines called Sylvanian Families, and I'd like to do something different to display them so I've been thinking about creating a little workship room scene? How extraordinary! Near the end, when you said you were beginning to think about making a shadow box around it, I don't know why, but the angle I saw with the "open" drawers made me think of a card catalog. I'm not saying to use that as one, but I actually AM wondering if there's a piece you could turn into a card catalog and have some books on shelves, a chair, lamp and plants, a desk....you know, something like that?
That’s fantastic. I want to thank you for sharing your techniques so clearly. I’ve been wanting to learn how to achieve effects such as this and your tutorial is so clear that I’m encouraged to have a go. Keep up the great work. ❤️
You can do it! I know not everyone can find this dresser but keep in mind that it has a very simple shape. You could make this dresser using cardboard and popsicle sticks. Bentley House Minis has great tutorials for using cardboard to make furniture. The key is filling the corrugated holes with wood filler to give yourself smooth edges.
Do you have a micro lens it would be so cool to see this zoomed in especially to see the wings when I zoom in on the video it is too blurry but a micro lens or maybe they are called macro but one of those would be awesome to look at the bees
Oh I forgot to say, I always wondered how these tiny little things were baked. I thought they went into the oven. That process was always a mystery to me how they didn’t burn.
When I bake in the oven, I tent foil over the top just in case. For small items, I almost always bake them with my heat gun. For the Witch's Cottage, I did bake all those mushrooms and pots etc bc there were so many of them.
This tutorial is amazing thank you so much! I grabbed a bunch of these a year ago and have been sitting in them since! Question, the blob of yellow silicone what product is that ?
Thank you! That's Amazing Mold Putty. I got it on Amazon. It's a mold making product. Super easy to work with. I wish it was transparent so I could use it more easily for casting UV resin but it's great.
I’m curious, would it at all have been easier to have just made the whole piece from scratch rather than using the dollar tree base? Or was it a challenge you decided for yourself? I loooooove the look but it looked so hard to take apart!!!
For me, the hardest part can be deciding on a size and shape, so I like starting with something rather than building from scratch. I enjoyed reworking this piece.
I love the idea of using a silicone cup and heat gun to cure small polymer clay pieces. Is your heat gun an embossing gun (craft store) or a paint stripper gun (hardware store)? I live in Texas and will only turn on the oven for about 3 months of the year. 😁🌞
Haha! I bet! I can't imagine living in Texas. I'm hoping to go to the Dallas Miniature Show so maybe I'll experience that heat firsthand. I use a Milwaukee paint stripper heat gun. My fiance gave it to me and it is a game changer. I use it all the time. I dry paint with it, cure clay, loosen the glue on miniature furniture to take it apart etc.
@@queencityminis That’s where I live. End of June here? Oh yeah, you’ll get the full treatment. Doesn’t go much below the 80s at night, and runs 90-100 during the day. And SO very humid. I have craft heat guns. My guess is they don’t get as hot as a paint stripper. I’ll have to do some Googling. Thanks for the info!
@@tamara9186 Oh no! I didn't know it's humid in Dallas. I was hoping it would be dry heat like the West Coast. My heat gun has two modes; 570° F & 1,000° F. Hair dryers get about 100°. I don't know about craft guns.
Thank you! I have a regular laser printer and a 3d printer (Elegoo Mars 2 Pro). I didn't use either for this project though. This was all scratch made.

I made stacks of books, scrolls, candles, a crystal gazing ball, shelves, a hanging witch's robe, dried herbs, a little bird's nest tucked behind a shutter...so much fun
Fabulous!
Thank you 😊
I love this! Great job!
Thank you so much :)
This is awesome!! Thank you for this video!
You are so welcome!
I've been interested in getting into miniatures for a little bit. I collect these figurines called Sylvanian Families, and I'd like to do something different to display them so I've been thinking about creating a little workship room scene? ( Not too familiar with the terminology yet lol. ) This would be perfect for it. Anyways, back to binging your videos for more inspiration. You're so talented!
I've been watching some Japanese creators on UA-cam who redo Sylvanian Families houses!
I will make one of these!
Have fun!
This is amazing. I just found this furniture and I'm going to give it a try. Thank you so much for this tutorial. 💕
That's exciting! You can do it!
Thanks!
Thank you for the Super Thanks! That's so nice 🙂 I've only received one before now.
@@queencityminis well, I’m surprised I really do enjoy all of your videos. I’ve gotten a lot of good ideas from them. Thank you for taking the time to make them. Have a nice evening.
@@bugyrand thank you so much 🥰
Love your work!!!
Thank you!
Great idea!
Thank you so much :)
Fabulous - thank you.
My pleasure! Thank you for commenting
Very cool. Great video.
Thank you 😊
You seem to be much more comfortable each new video that comes out. I love working with miniatures, you have some great ideas! Keep up the good work 😊
Oh, absolutely. I like to think my videos keep getting better and better.
Really cute! Lot’s of good ideas💜💜💜
Thank you!! 😊
brilliant! maybe a few herbs hanging off a knob or some mini bottles on the top? whatever you decide will be cool i am sure :)
That's such a cute idea. Thank you!
Your apothecary cabinet looks amazing! I have that exact same Dollar Tree dresser sitting in front of me. I'm going to try your technique on it!
How exciting! Good luck. I'm sure it'll look great.
Love it! Thank you!
You're welcome :)
I love this so much. I just found you and subscribed because this is so amazing. Thank you
Yay! Welcome :) I started my channel a few months ago and I've been having such a blast.
I love what you said about looking for comments 😊🎉❤ so I'm a new sub and I've never done mini diorama / doll house type of crafting but I love crafting in miniature scale with other things like painting small rocks and making terrariums and this is going to be my next crafting project with the Apothecary especially in mind because I'm a wildcrafter 🤓🌿 you have such attention to detail that is incredible and I've been binging on your channel ever since I found it like a week or so ago🎉❤😂❤🎉🎉🎉
I also enjoy your sense of humor 😂🎉
Thank you so much 😊 Crafting with natural materials sounds like a blast..enjoy!
Thank you ;)
This is the coolest
Thank you! This is probably my favorite Dollar Tree makeover.
Love it!
Thanks!! This is an oldie but a goodie
I love this!! ❤️
Thank you 😁
How extraordinary!
Thank you so much! I love all of that. Great ideas.
I think it would look really cool in a library type setting.
How cute! Love it 💚
I wish I was more humble, but I love it too 😉
That’s fantastic.
The first drawer patter would have been a library card storage cabinet
Thanks! That's good to know
Absolutely spectacular! Now I need to go to dollar tree😅. Thanks for a really well done tutorial.
Thank you! You're my people.
This is such an awesome idea🤯 new subbie 👌🏾☺️👌🏾
Thank you! The idea evolved as I went and I really love the outcome. This will be a hard Dollar Tree furniture makeover for me to beat.
It's awesome
Thank you 😊
*I loved it! ♥ Jenny*
Thank you!
Do you have a micro lens it would be so cool to see this zoomed in especially to see the wings when I zoom in on the video it is too blurry but a micro lens or maybe they are called macro but one of those would be awesome to look at the bees
That's a good idea. I'll look into getting a magnifying glass so I can show things in higher detail.
Genius ❤️
Thank you 😊
Wow
Thank you :)
So cool! It's wild to think you created this from that poorly-made $1 dollhouse dresser
Thank you! I need to do another Dollar Tree makeover soon.
@@queencityminis thanks for the insider scoop! Lol
Awesome! Gonna give it a try ! Keep up the amazing work so glad to have found you
I’m curious, would it at all have been easier to have just made the whole piece from scratch rather than using the dollar tree base? Or was it a challenge you decided for yourself? I loooooove the look but it looked so hard to take apart!!!
Also I just love your humor so much much it’s honestly perfect! 😂😂😂
Thank you!
Ok, I need to know….did this end up somewhere? It’s gorgeous!
It ended up in a storage box 😬 I promise, I will build a book box around this piece someday.
Can you tell me what kind of white glue and mold putty you are using?
Love it! I Love taking something this already exists and making it awesome. What kind of printer do you use?
Thank you! I have a regular laser printer and a 3d printer (Elegoo Mars 2 Pro). I didn't use either for this project though. This was all scratch made.
