Luigi wins a free mansion in this September/November 2001 launch title for the GameCube. But he never entered any contest, so Mario goes to investigate first. When Luigi arrives, he finds a dark mansion with only a flashlight in his hand. Soon he gets scared by ghosts and meets Professor E. the donation readers can be a bit obnoxious sometimes, but they're better than they were last year.

Yeah, but I just keep in mind that the whole point of these things is to bring in donations. The timing could be a bit better sometimes though.
That's what I'm saying. Last year donation readers would cut the couch and runners off to read the most insipid comments they could. At least for the most part this year they ask or know when there's gonna be dead air.

So basically what happned here for some reason the developers thought it would be a good idea to not to test this game for speedrunners.

could possibly win in bid wars.
I love this speed running community, because there are so many

I just realized that this glitch could have been easily avoided if the developers had just put a system where you would be sent back to the starting room if you didn't have enough boos.

In my opinion, this is the best ending for the game, because : you do not screw up the afterlives of the portrait ghosts (which are my favorite characters) and you still defeat King Boo.

Who could have ever guessed that sucking up ghosts in a vacuum could be so addicting? After a while, vacuuming ghosts becomes like second nature and you can't get enough of it.

He's probably playing the Hidden Mansion, where capturing ghosts is really easy.

A_DutchGamer after you beat the game, E. Gadd gives you the option to go to the Hidden Mansion. It's supposed to be the hard mode of the game I guess. I dunno, when I play it, the only thing I note different is the time it takes to capture a ghost. :/

As cruel(?) as it may sound I really hope this glitched% doesn't become the norm, Luigi's Mansion is too good of a game and it doesn't do it justice. That said, it was pretty cool seeing the out of bounds though.
It never becomes a norm, is just another option. Like Metroid Any% or 100%
What I meant to say was, I hope it doesn't become the most popular way to run this game.
Rollthebuddah Don't worry, it's not. It seems like any% glitchless is most common, and Luke was saying at the event that any% glitched is becoming more and more uncommon because it's so short.
I know what you mean. It's much more impressive to see someone speedrun a game because of skill, not glitch exploitation.
Well, glitching isn't something simple to do and needs set-ups and precise movement to do them.

How come in a lot of speedruns, the language of the game is often Japanese? Does the text scroll faster or something?
I don't know how to say it, but if you take the same paragraph, one in japanese, the other in US, japanese paragraph will take less place, so instead of scrolling 3-4 times in the US version, you use the japanese version to scroll once or twice.
It depends on the game
Some games run slower in some versions (FPS or just the text)
Some glitches are patched
Sometimes glitches are patched in

Yes conquer, in short of wat the other dude was saying Japanese text takes up a shorter amount of times.
Its cuz some words can be written in just one letter/Kanji in japanese, so the amount of text decreases a lot.@John Lock sometimes its the other way :D
I know that some glitches only work on the Japanese version just like it is the other way around *only working on the U.S version I don't know if that was the case here but it might have!
I get that he skipped 90% of the game and got a low score, but Luigi still scored almost 2 million bucks. I think that could get him more than a tiny shack on a hill.

I know one guy got interrupted when they were explaining, but how could Luke go by King Boo without him saying he doesn't have enough boos captured?
He clipped through the wall and walked around the outside of the loading zone for the cut scene to check his boo count and into the final area. The game detects that by being in the final area he has passed the check to have enough boos and then starts the final boss fight.
How do you eat ghosts faster?
i tried to do this for about a week i kept getting halfway then i got stuck then i figured out i cant go any further coz i have the pal version of gamecube (sold in uk and australia) 😑😑😑😑😑
