I bought one. It's admittedly a niche wallet, but I am really happy with it so far. The way I usually open it is by holding the wallet in my left hand and using my thumb; I pull to open the quick access side, and push to open the other side. I'm using one embossed credit card in the quick access side, which allows me to take out the card and tap to pay in around 2 seconds, then return it to the case equally smoothly. I have 5 cards in the other side, and a $50 bill just for emergencies since I almost never use cash. It's also very comfortable in your pocket - compact, soft, and the rounded edges are a nice touch. Despite the praise, it's not perfect. The middle divider seems overly thick, and with different materials they could have made space for an extra card within the same footprint. My car keys are usually in the same pocket as my wallet, and the leather is so soft that I'm concerned it may get pretty scratched up over time, although it's been OK so far. Advertising that it fits 8 cards is misleading - 4-6 is ideal. It's a clever design, and I'd be really interested to see what they do with a few small refinements. A lot of other wallets are better if you need regular access to multiple cards since they either have nice dividers or fan out cards or lots of random storage spots. Nonetheless, for anyone who predominantly uses a single card daily and just needs a handful of other occasional use cards, I have a hard time thinking of a better 'quickdraw' minimalist wallet.
I have one as well and I am really happy with mine so far too! At first I was disappointed with how it carries less cards as advertised but after a couple weeks of using it I think it is a great design. I only use two cards on a daily basis (CC and ID) and keep them in the smaller compartment. It's super easy to take them out and they come out with a very satisfying slide. I think the comfort in the pocket like you said is it's best selling point. I got it to replace my akeeni wallet whose sharp edges actually tore a hole in the pocket of one of my jeans.
Just came back to this review from the video that compared v1 and v2 of this wallet and it is amazing to see that they literally did exactly what you were suggesting: making the divider thinner to actually fulfill the advertised card capacity. If you happen to see this comment: what was your long term experience with it? Did the leather scratch up like you were expecting it to? I like minimalist and sleek approach, especially how little space it takes up and how quickly the important cards can be accessed (much better than some of the overengineered and tacticool "minimalist" wallets that dominate the market), so I am tempted to eventually get the v2 of this one.
@@MrPavlyuchenko 3 years in and it's still going strong. When I wrote that comment I was only storing 1 card in the front and 4 in the back because of embossments taking up space, but as a result of all my card-issuing companies switching to flat cards for some reason, now I have 2 cards in the front and 5 in the back. The scuffs and scrapes on the wallet haven't been a big deal at all - I would just call it the leather patina. My only concern with the V2 would be if it wasn't full, it seems like cards would be clacking on the plastic when walking - but that's presumably not a problem when it's full.
Was attracted to this product for it’s concept, simplicity and compact size. It looks good. Bought one. With my gorilla-like hands, it was a lot of work and lacked the accessibility I need. Handed it to my wife and she worked this wallet with ease. She is now the happy owner-loves it as an alternative to the remarkable“tactical” bag she normally carries-
Honestly, I have been using the same trifold wallet since 2015 because I don’t like folding my bills. But over the years I started to carry less cash and rely on card/phone cashless methods and when I saw this wallet I knew it’s what I wanted. Got space for the cards I carry on a daily basis and like you said, a couple of bills for emergency. I’m loving the design and the wallet overall
They released a second edition of the same wallet, they mentioned that it is an Updated design for improved storage and access. In terms of dimensions and size they are exactly the same, not sure how it is changed from the inside though. Would love to have it, but a bit hesitant unless I see a review about the 2nd edition. Would love to see it reviewed by you, I trust your opinion.
Yes, it’s in the works. When I took a first look at the pictures online I wasn’t convinced there was anything different, but it does require a hands on approach.
Hi Mark, just want to give you a shout out, if you have ever heard or Revelot's and Zenlet's wallets. You might want to review Revelot W1/W4 and/or Zenlet 2+
@@walletopia Thanks Mark, may I suggest Revelot as it's way more affordable than the Zenlet. However, Zenlet has its own mechanic properties which I find interesting. Let see what your thoughts on these two brands.
I was really looking forward to this wallet when I saw it released. Liked the concept but seems to have fallen short on usability. It's too bad, really wanted it to succeed
as a front pocket wallet guy I love the design and the size but unfortunately I don't think it would work for me. I carry 5 cards (2 credit cards and 3 flush cards). the problem is that a credit card must be counted as 2 flush cards.
Just refunded mine. Really liked the style and hard case design but the larger segment was too difficult to open one handed. Also couldnt get more than 5 non flat cards in there. 2 in the front is too tight and any more than 4 in the back with no cash
Just out of curiosity, im fairly new to the channel and I was wondering, are you against RFID blocking in wallets? I thought it was a good thing but the part about it in this video made me ask. Thank you!
I talk about it here. ua-cam.com/video/QL2HEgOFQxc/v-deo.html. I don't believe RFID in wallets is necessary. Maybe an RFID card, but it's not needed in the wallet
@@walletopia ahh very nice! Thanks so much for that, really well in depth video. I've never thought it to be much of a problem or a worry for myself either honestly, it just became a normal thing after a certain point I didn't think twice
I’m with you, I appreciate wallet makers trying out new things but this one could use some more refinement. Another great review! What’s riding in your pocket at the moment Mark?
I just wrapped the Willow Craft Goods Luxe carry and a 6 month carry of the Apple wallet on my phone. Lots of learnings on that one, both reviews coming soon!
This could have been executed better. Think of the Flipside wallet but a lot slimmer and sleeker, this is what I was expecting out of Bellroy. Great review as always!
Indeed, a little more refinement and it will be more useful. Now if the Flipside folks would create a slimmer version of their wallet, that would be interesting.
Your negative video title is unjustified. This looks like a great concept. Try digging your finger into the notch instead. Like your reviews, I just think on this one you are making an issue out of something that does not warrant an issue.
It actually was frustrating. Right out of the box, the opening issue was apparent, and I'm not fat fingered either. But I'm not sure why I should have to dig my finger when the operation should be flawless. I completely understand if it seems frivolous, but I shouldn't have to work at, or learn an a work-around to open the wallet. With some adjustment, this will be a great wallet.
this has been a fantastic wallet for 2 years now. when the opening slot is on top right you open it with your left hand. then you just flip it over which puts the slot on the bottom right and gives you access to the other half of the wallet while still allowing you to open it with your left hand. why have a second slot for opening?? this isn't a design issue folks. this is more of a failure to recognize how to properly use the wallet. this isn't rocket science guys....
this guy really makes my life easier in findings a new wallets. keep up the good work

Thanks for the review.
This seems nice and I wanted this wallet prior to your review.
hey so have you checked out jj leatherman wallets? or speakeasy wallets? they are some nice very functional wallets?

Not much capacity. Might as well make it a clamshell accordion form factor that Ogden makes.
You should do the new nomad wallets!
On the way, they've done some good work there!

I like how sleek it is. Most hard shell wallets are fat and bulky. I agree though, it would really benefit from having a second tab there for opening.
Put a broccoli rubber band around it and it will be functional l
Them: We should sell this at $19.99 and make a 300% profit. But let's sell it $90. because of 'Perception'...
Their wallets are borderline overpriced. They know their market data and push that boundary.
