For everyone curious, we are putting the final touches on the van now and will upload a video when it is finished. We have had a lot of rain recently which has delayed us.
I just bought a 98 e350 with 36k miles and I have a question about the bed as we cant build here in Maine cause its to cold. What is laying down sideway like that like? My wife is 5'8 and Im 6'0 foot can you fit comfortably like that?
@@cjw.6310 I am 5'11" and I fit well. If I lay on my back stretched out, the top of my head and bottom of feet just touch the walls. I don't normally sleep stretched out all the way though.
@@Techelp1001 Cool thanks for the quick reply, I like how simple you kept this. We are going to pretty much do the same exact thing even though we have never built anything and it will be for weekends only for the most part. Keep up the great content and I appreciate the inspiration and ideas for my own build when it gets over 50F.
Just got my self a 2002 ! I honestly like the way you guys do your job ! I will try to do something similar! Great job guys. ! I’ll post a pic of my Van when it’s ready !
Pretty cool and not overwelming. Im starting on a 2007 E250 i baught two weeks ago. Seems to run ok. I got lots of prep work. Im got plenty of solar and one panal fore now. Fixing to order another 175 watt panal. Love watching your video . Looks simple nough to build out (-:
i bought a memory foam mattress from amazon for my house a couple years ago and when I first received it in the box I was thinking .... "that was probably wasted money" because it was compressed so small. lol I couldn't believe how much it expanded after the plastic was taken off and it turned out to be super comfortable (but I did add a topper to it)
Hello, super cool van! I was wondering what kind of wood & what size did you guys use for not only the paneling but also for your bed frame and sink frame? Maybe separate video?
Update video coming soon! We are in graduate school so sometimes our schedule can be a little hectic. I have a electrical video and build update coming
We have talked about it for the passenger seat. Right now we are focused on finishing out the rest of the van but we might add it in the future as an extra place to sit
Thanks for the feedback, will make sure I lower the music in the video I am working on now. Going to have a electrical video and then finishing out the van and showing some mistakes we made and how we fixed them.
Hey where was that salvage yard where you bought the floor pan in the 1st video located? We live in Chattanooga and were wondering if its close enough for us to use as well. Thanks
Unfortunately we do not live in Chattanooga, just there for a weekend. Also, wouldn't I particularly recommend that junk yard lol. I called around for a while and had to drive about 30 minutes away to find a junkyard that had what I needed.
We actually didn’t have any seat brackets because ours was a work van previously. I would post over on Reddit in the van dwellers sub about it though. The people over there are always happy to give advice, and I am sure someone else has had the same problem. Good luck!
We are happy with the size of the sink. We mostly only use it for washing hands, brushing teeth, and dispensing water so it is a good size for that. if you planned to wash pans in it you would need a little larger sink.
Good question. I have saved all of the receipts so perhaps in the future I will do a cost breakdown video or put it at the end of another video. My estimate when I did it the other day was about $5000
Sorry for the delay in responding. I wanted to measure again. The top of the bed frame is right at 13 1/2 inches off of the floor and the mattress in 6 inches thick. I am 5'11" and have room to sit up though I normally lay back on something because my head is right at the ceiling when I sit on the mattress.
@@Techelp1001 Awesome thanks, we've got a rear A/C unit that we have to dodge that sits at about 16" off of the floor, and I'm also 5'11" so it might be a squeeze, thanks for the info!
@@MrNitrogenX I have the same issue in my new I bought. I want to keep the unit and build some kind of soffit in the corner. Have you figured out your situation yet?
I recently bought a ford e-350 I’m going to build out, and one thing I’ve been mulling over in my head is if I’m going to insulate it or not. My van is all windows, on both sides, and I feel like the windows would cancel out any effect that installing insulation would have. I see that your van doesn’t have windows on the sides, so we have different situations for sure, but I’m still wondering if you have any thoughts or advice about it perhaps? Cheers, and nice build!
You can read online on insulation and how to install it and it is very controversial. After reading everything I could, we settled on this basic insulation in the van. I feel like it cuts down on some road noise and makes it heat up a little bit slower in the sunlight, so overall I think it was worth it but I wouldn't spend tons of money insulating a van because in the end as soon as you open up the doors it's the same temperature as outside.
Love the build I'm starting mine , well 3 months ago. You make it look easy. Don't forget the terrible, painful and dreadful disease you get, LOL. The Kneesules. Mmm, its medical stuff for sure couldn't walk straight up for 10 hours. umm sorry think it was the spirits-yaknow .. just saying Thanks the series.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Will be posting some more soon with the rest of the build. We just took it out for the first trip to test out what we have done so far.
Not sure where your at but if you ever come through York ,PA my wife and I will let you shower recharge and hang out and we have NO ORDINANCE on living in your vehicle on the street!
Yep, they can always upgrade in the future though. We decided to buy one cheapo in the front of our van and then put the MaxxAir 7500k in the back near our bed. It works out beautifully. I would never own another Fantastic Fan though.

Absolutely love this video. My van is very similar to yours. I've been having the worse time trying to figure out the walls. Thank you!
Looks Great!!! I am just starting my E-150 Van Build and will use some of your ideas. Looking forward to the final project.
New subscriber here. Thank you for sharing your build. Can’t wait for the update.
It seems the spirit that brought us from the great depression still lives. Bricolage.
Excellent 👌
We need a completed van tour! Get video and beautiful build

Hi, I am wondering what size of screws did use for wall and ceiling insulation.
Where did you get the wall paneling please?
Hello, super cool van! I was wondering what kind of wood & what size did you guys use for not only the paneling but also for your bed frame and sink frame? Maybe separate video?
Got a link or info on those leather handles for the cabinets?
Was the sound deadening panels worth it ?
Did you guys use 1 inch foam boards?
Where can buy that white wall board ?
We bought ours at Home Depot, but Lowe’s or any large big box hardware store should have large sheets of it.
Can we have an update please!!! Great video 👍

10 outta 10 would pay u to do this to my van if u were in Colorado Springs
did you guys ever consider changing out the front seats for swivel seat bases??
We have talked about it for the passenger seat. Right now we are focused on finishing out the rest of the van but we might add it in the future as an extra place to sit
Looks really good, sink might be a bit small though.
Hey, great video! What kind of material was that you used for the walls??
I am glad you liked the video! It is a 4' x 8' sheet of Wainscott beadboard from home depot. You can find it in a few different patterns
nice work! That is a great transformation. Your music is too loud compared to the volume of any speaking though.

How did you mount the furring strips in the ceiling to the metal ribs?
Industrial adhesive and short metal screws that went through the support brace but not through the exterior of the roof
How much for the solar stuff?

Where did you buy the sink?
The sink is actually this bowl from target (118.3oz-aluminum-hammered-serving-bowl-threshold). We drilled a hole into the bottom and put in a drain.
Awesome, looks very similar to ours! Can I ask what height the bed frame is? How tall are you, do you have room to sit up?

This is actually a bowl that we drilled a hole in and installed a drain in
This build is so nice! What size mattress did you use?
Thanks so much! We used a full size mattress and didn't end up having to cut it. We just opened it in the space and were able to make it fit.
