- This song was first released May 8,1970 on The Beatles LP ’Let it Be’.
It is said that Paul McCartney wrote this song on the same day as he wrote the song Let it Be.
What a genius,if that’s true.
I recorded it in the year 2000 for my album ’From Yesterday to Penny Lane’
but then on 6-str guitar. Here is a version for 11 strings.
this tune has that "Profound melancholy" as I always say. It's kinda sad but not in an overly dramatic way. Its perfect!!

I believe it was largely biographical; McCartney was watching his collaborator move on but still held out hope for reconciliation. My interpretation, of course.

Yup I played guitar whilst driving me truck like Dolly Parton she could do it but us men cannot do more than 2 things at once never again, leave stunts like that to the ladies, either play your guitar or drive never mix driving with plucking it's plucking dangerous think of the kids

Bravo! Very nice. The Beatles complained later that George Martin over-orchestrated this piece. Your arrangement / playing is beautiful!
George Martin quote, "I produced it, Phil Spector 'overproduced' it". This is a beautiful acoustic version.
Phil Spector added the additional strings and choir vocals.
