Best PS Video tut I've ever seen ! One feature I miss in PS , but available in other Video apps, is the ability to scrub thro' the timeline frame by frame, in order to find one good enough to capture as a still. If anyone can find a workaround, it's you, Colin !
5-star tutorial! I'm a still photographer who needed to quickly learn how to make LR/ACR-like edits to short videos, and render them for sharing. This was the perfect solution, with a great deal of helpful information and examples packed into 28 minutes. The teaching style and pace were ideal -- professional, straightforward and sincere, without any self-promoting fluff. Wonderful resource. If I ever want to dive deeper into video, I'll be back for the full course!
Thanks for the video. I have been a long time casual user of Photoshop and more recently purchased a DJI Mavic Air and Mavic 2 Pro. I stumbled trying to use Photoshop to edit my videos and ended up purchasing Adobe Premier Elements. After fighting response problems, I ended up upgrading to 16 GB RAM which greatly improved performance on my Windows I7 Laptop. Now with that said, you have shown me things I can do with Photoshop that maybe I can't do with Premiere Elements. I will continue to experiment with Photoshop video and might end up getting your 2 hours course. Thanks again.
I recently used the video editing feature of Photoshop for the first time to stitch together a short animation for my daughter from an image sequence she had drawn, and it got me wondering just how much you could do with video in Photoshop. This video was a real eye opener and has me pretty excited to try doing more with it. Thanks for the great video!
Incredible!! I've tried doing some video editing in Photoshop, but obviously didn't know the tools. I'm amazed at what all can be done. Thanks so much for this tutorial.
Thank you for creating this. A friend of mine told me you could edit videos in Photoshop like in AE but I didn’t think it was to this degree. As someone who is more familiar with PS since I’ve been using it for yours, you’ve definitely made me inspired to try learning to use it for video editing as well. So again thank you for the great tutorial.
Thank you so much! I learned more about using Photoshop watching this video than I did in a very long time by poking around in Photoshop and watching videos about how to do one tiny specific thing. Best of luck to you and be safe!
Thanks so much! Been shying away from video editing for a long time. Spent a lot of hours learning photoshop. Only want to do simple short videos. This is perfect. Was so exciting to see you apply Camera Raw to a video--WOW!
Thanks Colin, I'm pretty confident with PS photo editing but had no clue about how to edit video. With this very helpful tute you've given me the confidence to press on - keep up the good work, I shall look forward to future tutorials.
This was great. Recently upgraded my computer and thought I was going to have to buy Camtasia again. But for the short painting videos I want to do, this gives me all I need. Thanks, Colin!
Did not know you can do that much editing of video in Photoshop. I will be exploring in the next few weeks. Saving this tutorial for future review and the links to the 2 hour course as well. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Thank you so much for this video. I wasn't aware of how easy it could be to use PS for editing videos. I really appreciate your style of teaching. Extremely informative and easy to follow. Great work!
What do I think about editing videos in Photoshop? Is it something I've done? Something I want to try? Honestly? I'm embarrassed to admit how long I've had photoshop and NEVER KNEW I COULD DO THIS! I wasted money on PowerDirector and time learning how to use it, when this was possible since CS6? I feel like the wife when Mrs Doubtfire was exposed, The whole time? The.. the... THE WHOLE TIME? I've never used that phrase "This is a game-changer" as I've never had need to until now. Thank you so much for this, Colin. Will take you up on that offer for that 2-hour course soon.
Someone asked if I shoot videos. Yeah I could do that. But would I need software to edit videos?...Nope! Checked in with the first place I always go to PhotoshopCafe and photoshop DOES allow you to edit videos! I'm all set. This video is fabulous! Tells you everything you need to know to start. Thanks Colin!
Mind blown. Been using PS for years and never realised I could use it to edit video. Wow. Huge thanks for explaining everything so clearly. Clicked subscribe and bell icon :)
I've done some video editing in PS, but this has been a real eye-opener for me! Great tips, and you've cleared up some things I've been stumbling over. Like button = dust!
hello :) just watching this video in July 2020 and I noticed at around 12:44 you mentioned camera raw and I wondered if you shot these in raw format? Thank you in advance :)
Really great video - thank you! Two questions. Firstly, if you wanted to save your project so you can re-edit it later, what file format do you chose when you save? Secondly, are you able to clone out sensor marks on footage using the clone or healing tools?
you save it as a normal PSD, this is not premiere, it is still photoshop. and yes all photoshop tools work since this is actually still photoshop. all and any tools work. the video editing was originally for GIF but they have expanded it to video, you can click the export> render video to see all movie formats it can render to. try the double exposure tutorial by letsgettoit on youtube, it's an excellent use of photoshop and video
Sir, I love the way you teach. believe me you are one of the best. I really like your style of reaching and I do have interest in mastering cc and cs6. Thank you so much I do appreciate you sir.
clear, to the point, easy to follow. Had to learn to shoot and edit for a new client's website - product shots and video. I was really anxious, but the PS editing is familiar, so this will definitely work! Thanks!
Excelent !! .. great way to incentivate, and got me to loose my fear on creating-editing a video. I made my first video going paralell to this tutorial, and it came out pretty good! Thanks so much!...would love to know how to make the video loop itself - my homework.
nice video. I was hoping that I could use the content aware scale to all frames, but it doesn't allow me. know of any way around that? Want to pull at the edges of a short video clip.
Tomorrow or the next day I want to try to run an action. From watching your video I would assume I would have to make the clip a smart object first correct? Great video really enjoy the work you put out. Thanx

What sort of hardware do you need to make this usable? I tried it on an i-7 dual core Mac with 16 gigs of ram and it was so slow as to be almost unusable. It was a great video though. I would love to be able to use Photoshop for video.
A lot depends on the revolution of your video and how many filters you are applying. Also GPU is a big thing for performance with video.
