Great demonstration! I practice here regularly and play on Sundays every now and then. It is a fantastic organ and I will definitely be sad to see it go
Thank you! I’ve actually taken some improvisation lessons lately and one teacher suggested I be more spontaneous, which is what resulted in the scatterbrained crescendo in this video
Good to know this Schantz Organ is going to a new home and won't be scrapped when the church is sold. It sounds, as you remark, quite 'beefy' in its current location with glorious full choruses, fiery reeds . . . but also some lush strings and several charming solo stops. Thanks for demonstrating its potential and for the improvisation (glad to see you exploring being 'spontaneous'!): bravo, Charles!
When a note on a pipe organ sounds out of tune like that, it's because that pipe has slipped out of tune and requires tuning again. We have a pipe organ in the area which hasn't been tuned in years and when we're singing there, our organist tries out all the settings to find which ones are out of tune so he knows not to play in those.

One again, your improvisation skills are amazing.

I see the church is trying to sell this property. What are the plans for the Schantz organ?
Going to a college
