I appreciate the insight. My boyfriend and I have been living together for 3 years but are seriously thinking about moving back home with our parents. Rent in Florida has skyrocketed and our rent has gone up by $700 within the last two years. At this point it’s hard for us to save for a home when we’re paying almost $2,000 for a one bedroom apartment. As a fellow millennial we experience a bit of shame even thinking about moving back home but inflation is high and our pay isn’t going up enough to keep up with rent and pending debts. Thanks again for the insight!
Lots of great tips here! We lived with parents for nearly 6 months in between living in an apartment and moving into our RV. That was huge for us to give us time to work on our renovation and have the money to do. Love all these tips, but especially the - set an end date. That's incredible important and probably the one that gets most people in trouble.
Very helpful! We're moving in with my in-laws for 6 weeks - 2 months when we return to the country, it's going to be interesting to see how we work things out. Please pray for us! Mid December to end of January is likely.
Thanks for the info! My husband and I have been married 3 years and because of our current renting situation we've started seriously considering moving back to my parents house for 6 months to pay off a little debt and save for a down payment on a house 😬
@@cassienicole6210 you bet we did! Lol we were there from the end of nov to mid June (longer than planned) and its wasn't that bad... we used the 2 spare rooms as a bedroom and living room. My parents treated us like adults and all but they had their little habits that annoyed us and we probably annoyed them lol Mid June we went to stay at our friend's (realy close like family) house for a sort of long weekend/catch up and that turned into a whole week, then turned into living there until we moved in Dec. Our financial goals weren't very realistic for the housing market in our area but we were able to get rid of a good % of our debt! Also plans changed while at my parents house, my husband joined the navy instead of us buying a house 😄🤪
Good video. Thanks to Hurricane Florence everyone at my apartment complex had one week to get out. So here I am back with my parents and my belongings are crammed in three different rooms, lol. Plus side is I can save up.
Subscribed! Same situation im in. the last thing i wanted to do was move back w my parents. i loved living on our own (me my husband and my son)... but our lease will be maxed out here at our apartments and since im not working due to not having job opportunity bc my son has special needs and not all jobs have that open flexibility... so since the lease here will be maxed out, it just wasnt worth it to stay. our lease was a year long. we got married march of 2018 and got our first apartment together. BUT weve been looking for specific areas of vacancy and so far we havent found a place thats in our desired area with our budget so we have no choice but to move back with my parents... luckiky, since we were so unhappy here and our lease ends in march, we offered for these apartments to keep the deposit bc we want out and the manager agreed to allow us to break our lease.. this was all last min... we have til monday to be moved out... but ugh im gonna miss our privacy and peace but we need to do what we need to do to save money 😭 ty for sharing this video!!
The bottom line is their house their rules. If you can't accept that then don't move in remember they are doing you a favor. Try asking your friends to move in and see what kind of response you get.
We are likely to move in with our parents and my aunt in to a house owned by my mother and her sister (who never married and we are pretty much her only family). Main reason is fantastic schooling for our child. My parents and aunt LOVE the idea, the house is big, has a nice garden, has 2 kitchens (we'll be using one), pretty much full household staff (parents paying for it), and they refused rent, but we'll be buying groceries. My parents and aunt are old, thankfully in good health, but they also expect some moral support during the usual old age hiccups. BUT both my wife and I are freaking out despite the move being anywhere between 1 and 3 months away. The times we've stayed longer than a "visit", like note than 2 weeks has usually resulted in fights and tears. Anyway, wanted to vent.
Yes! They are. We lived with my mom and step-dad. And for this video, I said "parents" just for simplicity sake without having to do too much back story, but yes, that is correct. :)
3 tips start at 2:22.

Thanks, Nick! Glad to know that there's someone else out there who's done it. Boundaries are so important to set!
Absolutely! That's the only way to get through.
I applaud your insight and maturity! Hope my daughter will do so as well with my guidance.

I think with inflation rizing a lot of families will be combining resources soon.

What was your planned time frame of how long you were going to stay living with your parents?
We planned a year and were there for 14 months. :)
The Budgeting Wife that’s so great that you guys stayed focused!
Aren't your parents divorced? Did you live with your mom or dad?
Yes! They are. We lived with my mom and step-dad. And for this video, I said "parents" just for simplicity sake without having to do too much back story, but yes, that is correct. :)
Did you get tired of it yet?
