Hi Chris, having a exposed mains voltage connection without proper metal enclosure and grounding is dangerous. This power supply is made for proper enclosed systems, isnt it? Kind regards, Waldschwammerl
I hate white color, don't like RGB too much and i don't have any skills & desire to DIY electronics but this project made me speechless and drooling. The idea, planning, attention to detail, cable management and overall craftsmanship is way beyond perfect in my opinion. Well done sir & enjoy your new desk.
youll love my themed room once its finished! literally i think would be most peoples dream room and i cannot wait, ive never seen anyone with anything close except maybe in movies!
My only concern would be my arms/wrist inadvertently resting on the channels while browsing/gaming. Maybe I'm just lazy, but my wrist area tends to hang off the edge of the desk
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! To remove these channels from the desk even with the small amount of sticky tape I used I had to push down very hard. Resting your arms on them wont do anything so you wouldn't have to worry about that!
I know there are a lot of mounds that you can just drill through the table or I was thinking I could also just wall mount a monitor. For sure some decisions to be made down the road!
Love the build and walkthrough. As someone who hates wires hanging about I've used the Velcro and sticky tape options in the past...just watch out for pull away, especially with electronics that generate heat. Another recommendation for future builds, wipe the surface of whatever you are placing that tape on with some rubbing alcohol prior to placement (so long as it won't hurt the surface of the table or whatever) and make sure it's dry, then place the tape. If you are going to be placing something heavy, use an industrial 3m style tape or Velcro and ensure it's setup (treat like a glue) for a little bit first before having the full weight pull against it. Finally, sometimes due to weight, screw based wire management clips just need to be used... It sucks, but sometimes it's all that will ultimately work.
Just found this channel, and I must say you make all of these projects look incredibly easy! I feel like if I attempted any of these projects I'd get frustrated halfway and scrap the whole thing lol
Thanks so much!! I plan on making a follow up video of using LedFx with the setup. With LedFx you can assign different controllers to react to different sound frequencies so my idea was to maybe have 1 leg respond to the deep bass, another leg to the mids, and another one to the highs. I could certainly be wrong but I'm not sure if that could be done using 1 esp device.
Beautiful...I think the only change I'd make is potentially spraying the metal portions of the led diffusion channels white to match the desk and getting rid of the silver.
As someone who took inspiration from Tech Tesseracts original set up for my own, I have to say you have surpassed anything I could imagine doing myself and REALLY made something slick and clean looking. I think I might need to get myself some new strips added to my room!
Cable Management Theory 101 measure twice, cut once. plan at least 6 times, double sticky tape once... and maybe move it around later. The little white cable next boxes were a great touch!
Looks great! I am not sure what the benefit of using 4 ESP32's, but this could be done with just 1 using 4 pins. Virtual strips can be configured inside of the WLED web interface where you can assign individual pins, so they act independently. If you were using esp8266 boards I could understand the multiple units, but a ESP32 can handle that many LEDS without breaking a sweat, and seems like it would be nicer to manage under one WebUI. Keep up the great work, I do enjoy your projects.

Definitely an EPIC result! One of the cleanest i've seen on UA-cam for leds on a desk. It would be really cool if you had the aluminum channels powder coated white. Probably cost less than $100 to do that. Also you should use spade Lug crimp terminals instead of the ferrules for the screw down connectors on the power supply.
amping it up a notch, could spray it himself more work but adding to the aesthetics, or even a zebra style cant have to much solids will look to plain in mio.
I was going to do this with the Govee M1 strips but then I noticed that the same aluminum channels were being sold in Canada for a crazy amount $120. Decided to order Govee's 16ft rope for my desk. This build looks great!
I am watching the video from Turkey, this table has already attracted my attention with its comfort and elegance for a long time, you have made it more beautiful, I liked it very much, if I have the opportunity to buy it one day, I will watch the video again and light it in this way.👏😍
Please make a finished desk setup! You have one of the most aesthetically pleasing tastes on UA-cam I’d love to see what your dream desk setup would look like 🤙🏼🔥
While he was sorting out wires for LEDs on the legs my OCD was killing me "as soon as he's gonna try to raise the desk all the wire gonna get ripped out!!!" Beautiful! Keep it up!
Thanks for watching! The desk still goes up and down! Watch the end of my gaming setup video I did. ua-cam.com/video/KbbKAxnpCQQ/v-deo.htmlsi=dxChqS5Ap4pj6Ivu
A little tip from experience: I would definitely advise against using duckt tape on cables, since it can leave a really gooey and sticky residue, which is really hard to get off.
Holy shit!!!!!!! ⚠️ certified GOAT alert ⚠️ i wish nothing but great things for you this year bro. I really see you taking off bigger than ever before bro. Keep pushing, this desk RIDICULOUS. I don't even think YOU know the things you can do or create!! Just amazing dude, amazing. Keep going!!!!
The desk took allot of twists at first, like you said wanted to make it more interesting by adding lights to the legs, the cable management is a killer, always plan and make sure to get that right in the process it will safe you tons of time when it comes to scrap down and rebuild on a newer desk. I notice the m1 can be done the same way without the board, but I like how this turned out. Love white but not for this sort of project still came out badass. The lights made this desk one of a kind for sure, its a winner for its unique style. Job well done.
Absolutely amazing... Found you by accident & have now subscribed... I would dearly love to do something similar but I'm useless on the tools & my electronics knowledge is zero... Still might give it a try in the future but for now just happy to watch your content... Cheers from Down Under

I have been talking to an LED distributor for awhile about a custom lighting project I am working on. When you bend your LED in a 90 around the desk, its creating somewhat of a coil effect. Each LED light is rated for a certain amount of bend. I only know this because they told me "No" to what I wanted to do. So I will be soldering all my joints. This distributor told me it could result in a shortened life of the LED strip. I dunno if that is something you have experienced. Just what I ran into, in my own LED journey toward creating my own fun filled environments.
So ive been thinking about this for a while... I mean this looks great in the video but the problem with video is just how lenses distort light. would you say the led density is perfect? Would you sayvit looks better in person? or would you say hold out for 80 or 100 led light strip models. The reason light strips are typically hidden and used for ambience is because they're jarring and usually you can see the individual diode. I've seen these models like the govee m1 coming out and slowly with new videos like yours out im more abd more enticed to do diffused lighting with really hidden wires
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I think it looks better in person than in videos. But as far as the diffusion, the channels I'm using look perfect with a density strip of 60 leds per meter. If you hold out for a strip with 80 or 100 leds/per meter you will certainly have more options when it comes to what diffuser channels but if you're in the US, the muzata ones that I link to in the video are amazing. I also agree that if you can see the individual diodes, it ruins the look (in my opinion) I have yet to find a diffuser channel that is able to perfectly diffuse a strip that only has 30 leds per meter. I'm sure its possible but you would just need a lot of distance between the diod and the diffuser.
Its crazy how nobody of these "pro" desk designers never got this idea i would instantly buy it because i dont have the inner peace for such an project 😂🎉❤
How did you manage the cable slack needed for the led strips on the legs, to allow the table to still raise and lower? I would have thought it would be rather difficult to allow slack, whilst at the same time making sure the cables aren't visible.
I had the same question till I looked back at the beginning of the video these legs telescope up from the bottom. so the leg mounted lights do not need excess wires they move up with the rest of the desk. Unlike my desk the telescopes from the top.
@@2JPerfomanceHorses OMG you are absolutely right, it does! How on earth did I miss that?? Thanks for pointing it out to me! Whelp, now I feel like a bit of an idiot 😆

I just bought a standing desk base and am going to DIY my desktop. Lowe’s has that exact white laminated particle board. Curious if you think it’s strong enough for a four monitor setup or do I need to reinforce the desktop from the bottom to make it stronger?
My guy, this is awesome. Ur Channel is life changing. U actually inspired me to do more stuff like this especially with the baseboards video and desk set up. The attention to detail is amazing. In my line of work attention to detail is everything. I've been in a lot of different places and seen alot and have been some what amazed by ppl. But u have amazed me by ur craftsmanship and skills. Again u make me want to do the samething. We are told when we are home from any deployments or work we have to find a stress relief hobby and I think something like what u are doing is fun. Maybe I'll build me a gaming room or sports room. I know u must had some struggles along the way with things but u got it to work and that's called honing your craft. And that's nothing but praise my guy. Keep up the good work. Respect to you. I definitely gave u a follow.
Awesome setup and video. Just had a questions though because i don’t think there was much slack on those led strip wires for when you raise your desk up?

You gave me the idea to do a 3/4 to 1inch thick desk top and mull out the ends of the desk to inlay the LED strips inside the desk and put a flat diffuser that goes in flush with the ends of the desk

what i like about your work Chris is it being very neat and tidy. some don't put much effort in keeping the "behind the scenes" in proper order. Great job once again. quick question tho, the desk goes up right? what happens to the LEDs on the legs?
Thanks so much buddy! Yes, legs still go up and the lights just go up with it. 99% of the time it will be down so thats mostly what I kept in mind while building this.

damnit now you made me wanna finish my gaming space from watching the same creators! wife and i just moved into the house and got our gear sorta setup now we are "themeing" the room and boy these videos drive me NUTS! i wish i could snap my fingers and finish this project ASAP!
Very nice!!!! I've been wanting to get a new desk and doing some LEDs on it. Just changed jobs and unfortunately finances are the issue. Definitely bookmarking this to come back to later on. Well done sir.
Overtime i feel like the muzata raceways would just start falling off bc i rest my elbows all the time around the edge of my desk, I think milling or making a channel in the desk border itself may have been better and looked a bit cleaner but nonetheless. Love ur vids man and thanks for the great vid chris :)
Thanks so much! Yeah time will tell. I do know though that I was pretty much pivoting the entire weight of the desk on the diffuser channels when flipping the table over and they did not budge. You certainly could do the milling although for this particular setup it wouldn't work since the diffuser channels are the same thickness of the desk. I was going for a not so permanent solution so if down the road I don't wan leds, I can take them down and the desk will look brand new.
@@ChrisMaherDIY True in terms of it not being more permanant what you did was probably best, also do you have any plans on messing around with black acrylic panels in the future? recently they've intrigued me a lot to see if they really are worth the hype
Thanks so much for watching! I had all the brightness limiters set to 6000mA and no noticeable voltage drop. Also really helps when you use the sk6812 strips since they have a separate led for white and is much more efficient at that.

You should get a cover for the terminal strip on the LED power supply. Some day you are going to reach under your desk and shock yourself on the exposed 120V input.
Could the Diffuser channel get damaged pretty easy with the chair arms or are they pretty durable? I think it looks amazing. Made me look at these desks for sure. Almost exactly what i have been looking for.
I’ve always been nervous because I heard the Sport wheels are high theft and I don’t exactly live in the nicest part of town. A set of these would be great!
what is the difference of light strips u used like whats teh difference between the ones u used here and just the simple goovee ones is it quality or the "power" of the lighting
Chris, I am blown away by how well it does with the color, accuracy and speed. I have one question. What if you want to use your own higher dense LED lights? Can you do that or do you have to have their lights that come with the system?. Great video!. For the past

You have one of the most aesthetically pleasing tastes on UA-cam I’d love to see what your dream desk setup would look like 🤙🏼🔥
Can I just hire you to come do this! As much as following this tutorial to the T would seem so easy... I'm afraid I'll set someone on fire
Looks super cool! Little concerned about the LED power supply though.. if the metal is exposed on the power hook ups I could see that being a hazard.
The effort was all for this at the end. It looks dope
While he was sorting out wires for LEDs on the legs my OCD was killing me "as soon as he's gonna try to raise the desk all the wire gonna get ripped out!!!"
Beautiful! Keep it up!
Thanks for watching! The desk still goes up and down! Watch the end of my gaming setup video I did. ua-cam.com/video/KbbKAxnpCQQ/v-deo.htmlsi=dxChqS5Ap4pj6Ivu
omg this project had me in a shock im so impressed with the outcome of this desk thank you sir for showing me the light in DIY projects
Awesome job on this project!! The best part is, WLED works with OpenRGB! So you can sync your pc and desk rgb lights, if you wanted to. 😁
A little tip from experience: I would definitely advise against using duckt tape on cables, since it can leave a really gooey and sticky residue, which is really hard to get off.
you advise against using duct tape but didn't offer an alternative
Wish you Woudpve shown more of setting up the light strips in the difusers
Holy shit!!!!!!! ⚠️ certified GOAT alert ⚠️ i wish nothing but great things for you this year bro. I really see you taking off bigger than ever before bro. Keep pushing, this desk RIDICULOUS. I don't even think YOU know the things you can do or create!! Just amazing dude, amazing. Keep going!!!!
I wanna say that I appreciate your ingenuity Mr. Maher!!! Bravo 👏
This is a wonderful project and incredibly well executed. Kudos to you!
so with the leds on the legs does that stop it from being able to rise into a standing desk?
Thanks for watching! They still do up and down. Check out the end results: ua-cam.com/video/KbbKAxnpCQQ/v-deo.html
at first, I was like ok that's overkill but now bro it looks insanely badass
Thanks so much for watching buddy! Make sure to check out how it turned out as part of the full setup!
this guys the rgb master of youtube
The desk took allot of twists at first, like you said wanted to make it more interesting by adding lights to the legs, the cable management is a killer, always plan and make sure to get that right in the process it will safe you tons of time when it comes to scrap down and rebuild on a newer desk. I notice the m1 can be done the same way without the board, but I like how this turned out. Love white but not for this sort of project still came out badass. The lights made this desk one of a kind for sure, its a winner for its unique style. Job well done.
I don't hit the like button for nearly any video I watch, but this one deserved a like.
Absolutely amazing... Found you by accident & have now subscribed... I would dearly love to do something similar but I'm useless on the tools & my electronics knowledge is zero... Still might give it a try in the future but for now just happy to watch your content... Cheers from Down Under
wow... i am not a big fan of "LED everything around you" but boy oh boy this setup is sick! well done Sir... aaaaaaand subbed!
5:25 wow very nice fit on those cuts!
Im am very interested to see this as a series and where it ends up :). Great work Chris!
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I just completed the second video in this series where I build my dream gaming setup! Check it out and hope you like the new video! ua-cam.com/video/KbbKAxnpCQQ/v-deo.html
I approve of this RGB masterpiece! Great work :D
You did it again. Very cool. Can't wait for your next project.
@@DavidStruveDesigns well then that makes two of us I had to go back and look too.

oh man!! Cant wait to see what you come up with for your gaming setup. All your other videos are also so creative!!!

I just bought a standing desk base and am going to DIY my desktop. Lowe’s has that exact white laminated particle board. Curious if you think it’s strong enough for a four monitor setup or do I need to reinforce the desktop from the bottom to make it stronger?
I like how clean you work. But i wouldn't like to have the RGB in the front. It would disturb my eyes. But holy cow. It is eye-candy. 😳
Happy I found this! I was going the Ikea desk route for my son. But after seeing this, I ordered one of these desks! Thanks for the Discount code
Clean, neat, and beautiful as always. Very nice Chris!
Love the videos Chris!
My guy, this is awesome. Ur Channel is life changing. U actually inspired me to do more stuff like this especially with the baseboards video and desk set up. The attention to detail is amazing. In my line of work attention to detail is everything. You got to know everything as from as to get from point a to point b, to know ur targets, to know ur escape routes, know your surroundings and to a whole lot more. With a game system, theater, pool table, somewhere to watch UFC fights and the superbowl and invite my team. I know u must had some struggles along the way with things but u got it to work and that's called honing your craft. And that's nothing but praise my guy. Keep up the good work. Respect to you. I definitely gave u a follow.
I was today years old when I learned I could be in love with an inanimate object. Wow I wanna try this😵
That lighting looks so good. Like you brought it with that already on, so well done. 10/10..
Hope to see a vid on the complete build.
One question when you lift the table what to do with the cables of the LED-s
Amazing video Chris! I keep waiting for your videos and get genuinely happy when it drops ♥️ keep going buddy
9:15 I am confused on how you connected the AC cord to the power supply, could you please inform me on what you did?
Even though I find it exreamly costly and poinless I should say I really liked it. Your is very smooth clean and clever.
Very neat indeed. Thank you for showing us your power desk set up.
WOW I I think I would forget to play anymore and I would sit and admire the lights on the table lol ,very nice
Top-level perfectionism! Cool! Attention to the smallest details! :)
Awesome setup and video. Just had a questions though because i don’t think there was much slack on those led strip wires for when you raise your desk up?
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I just completed the second video in this series where I build my dream gaming setup and at the end I show the desk going up and down! Check it out and hope you like the new video! The legs with the led strips attached go up with the desk so nothing really moves from what I have setup. ua-cam.com/video/KbbKAxnpCQQ/v-deo.html
Wow that so cool 😎 your video’s are super awesome, I watch them all the time 😊
Perfection!! My only concern is that the corners of the table are now more tapered.
Love the build, but if you are going to have a meanwell style power supply, put an enclosure on it! Mains voltage is deadly
Awesome bro you find some of the best lighting ideas.
....HOLY CHIT! dude i've watched like 3 of your other vids (all awesome) but THIS ONE HERE earned you a subscriber my man. top marks!
You gave me the idea to do a 3/4 to 1inch thick desk top and mull out the ends of the desk to inlay the LED strips inside the desk and put a flat diffuser that goes in flush with the ends of the desk
Looks great! How do the cables/LEDs on the legs work with the up/down desk?

what i like about your work Chris is it being very neat and tidy. some don't put much effort in keeping the "behind the scenes" in proper order. Great job once again. quick question tho, the desk goes up right? what happens to the LEDs on the legs?
Thanks so much buddy! Yes, legs still go up and the lights just go up with it. 99% of the time it will be down so thats mostly what I kept in mind while building this.

that's sick man!!! Keep up the good work!!! Big fan of your work ♥
You figured it out all!! Can you do a kitchen under cabinet lighting setup?
Wow, Chris, you have outdone yourself again! The desk looks amazing. Great job. 🙌🙌❤❤
Not gonna lie for the first few minutes i thought this is way too much work for some rgb strip........but then the end result came and i was speechless
You can connect the power of the final of the strip with the beginning, for better power feed and equakl bright along the strip
damnit now you made me wanna finish my gaming space from watching the same creators!
wife and i just moved into the house and got our gear sorta setup now we are "themeing" the room and boy these videos drive me NUTS! i wish i could snap my fingers and finish this project ASAP!
Looks absolutely phenomenal! Very impressive and inspiring! Thanks Chris!
@@ChrisMaherDIY True in terms of it not being more permanant what you did was probably best, also do you have any plans on messing around with black acrylic panels in the future? recently they've intrigued me a lot to see if they really are worth the hype
how did u manage the Voltage drop from the LEDs on the sides?? and great Result ;)
Thanks so much for watching! I had all the brightness limiters set to 6000mA and no noticeable voltage drop. Also really helps when you use the sk6812 strips since they have a separate led for white and is much more efficient at that.
how is the desk going up and down and would like to see your desk after the setup is on it

You should get a cover for the terminal strip on the LED power supply. Some day you are going to reach under your desk and shock yourself on the exposed 120V input.
This looks amazing, but I can't unsee the gap at the rounded corners.
Did you ever fill in the gap between the rounded corners and the LED channel?
Great work Chris ! 😯 I 💖the end result. Very clean install. Very inspiring!
Thanks so much!!! Appreciate the support my friend!
hymp corners are round how did u know what point to measure to how many times did u screw up the strip cutting befour it was seamless
Could the Diffuser channel get damaged pretty easy with the chair arms or are they pretty durable? I think it looks amazing. Made me look at these desks for sure. Almost exactly what i have been looking for.
Very nice. You just gave me an idea for my desk. Thanks.
I’ve always been nervous because I heard the Sport wheels are high theft and I don’t exactly live in the nicest part of town. A set of these would be great!
Loved👏🏻this👏🏻so👏🏻much👏🏻
what is the difference of light strips u used like whats teh difference between the ones u used here and just the simple goovee ones is it quality or the "power" of the lighting
Thank you! This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for from desk to LED style!
Chris, I am blown away by how well it does with the color, accuracy and speed. I have one question. What if you want to use your own higher dense LED lights? Can you do that or do you have to have their lights that come with the system?. Great video!. For the past
Just found your channel; how in the world did you learn how to do all the hook-ups?
