The new airport is a huge improvement over Buyant Ukhaa! The only negative is that it's much farther from the city centre. It only took 20 minutes to get from Buyant Ukhaa to the centre, but I hear the new airport takes nearly an hour.
What international destinations does the Ulaanbaatar International Airport connect to? Seems predominately the neighboring Asian or Middle Asian /ex-Soviet cities only but not many others outside of these?
MIAT flies to Frankfurt, Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing and Hong Kong. Turkish Airlines flies to Istanbul. Korean Air and a few Korean low cost carriers fly to Seoul and Busan (very large Mongolian community in South Korea). I think Air Covidia flies to Beijing. I don't know if Aeroflot Putinian Airlines still flies to UB.
A very informative video!! The airport is modern and not that busy. Although my country, the Netherlands is small our international airport is extremely busy. Because of all the traveling our airport is a never ending expansion project and on the other hand a never ending environment protection issue. So nice to hear people talk. Never heard that before.
