Do you own a Tahoe as a family hauler? Tell us about it in the comments below!
If I had a big family I would go with a Grand Highlander hybrid instead.
I was going to a restaurant for dinner, and it started to rain, I got wet, so I really hated that Restautant... wow being a Millennialism" a vile mental disorder that transcends age groups , is easy.. Stupid but easy..
I own a 2014 Yukon. I really like it
Clint and Jodi must've forgot they were reviewing a large V8 body on frame SUV. Tahoe is designed perfectly for what it's supposed to be.
Tahoe is a member of my family. I have a 21 LT that didn't ask for anything aside from regular maintenance over the past three years. The wife and the kids love it even our latest 3 month old loves it.
Amazing to hear. That is great.
sounds like Jodi needs a bigger garage if she's going to drive a giant SUV 🙄 that's not the car's fault, that's a you-problem
Hey Jodi, try increasing your following distance, give yourself more time to react, when it comes to breaking. It feels like you’re fighting the weight off the truck when you break, because you are. It’s basically a truck. Also if you want luxury sedan ride quality, go get a luxury car. Again, the thing is a truck. Trucks aren’t known for ride comfort. I own a previous gen YUkon XL and love the thing.
We love our 2023 LT! Fits easily in our standard garage (1987 built house). It’s big but the 360 cameras make it a breeze to park and maneuver.
I think the last person is just so far removed from a full-size life that everything was just “too much”
Have had 3 Suburbans, 2 Yukon Denali’s, daughter is in her second Tahoe Z71. Second Suburban was hit by a 20 yard gravel truck which did not brake. Suburban knocked 240’, frame bent, all rear windows out, front seat backs, family went to ER in Chevrolet salesman’s car. He drove it to the dealership (hard to make left turns). No injuries. Body on frame construction saves lives, not gas mileage. Current models get better mileage. Need to trade 2nd Denali with 195K miles. Any takers?
I really like hearing all the different perspectives!
@clint! It was nice meeting you. Hope you had a good new years.
I have a 2021. Love it. Sounds like you guys didn't get the Magnetic Ride Control or Air Suspension on yours. I got it and it really smooths out a lot of the bumps on the road. I've got 56K miles on it so far. My only regret is that you can't get ventilated seats.
The Duramax 3.0 diesel would be the option I’d want.
And the 2025 will have the 3.0 as an option on the Z71 for the first time.
Sure, unless you want some speed.
@@BeamerTime354 about 475 pound feet of torque will get that vehicle up to speed about as quick than a gasser. About 10 mpg better overall real world.
@@ktpinnacle yeah but they only choose the z71 as they didnt have a choice, you can get the v6 diesel oil every other trim. including ls and lt.
@@Exploringthemagic That's been true in the past.
Seems like Jodi needs to drive more 4x4s.
I have the sequoia TRD Pro. With a very reasonable ratio highway driving, the combined mpg is at solid 17.1. Just FYI for anyone comparing MPG data points.
Jodi sounded bitter to have to drive this and would prefer a smart car or Mini.
Perhaps, though still good perspective for those who buy vehicles for souses or significant others.
I genuinely don't know what Jodi is talking about. When you hit a pot hole or anything in the road the Tahoe rolls over it without a bounce. Even though it has a truck underpinning it rides like an SUV and is not stiff (or violent) at all. I guess my (and my wife's) experience has been vastly different than hers. The ride is smooth as butter.
I was in market last year and ended up with fully loaded S3 Wagoneer with every available options. I got it used at fairly decent price, can’t be happier as GM products were almost impossible to get off lot without huge mark ups
Okay, I have a 2023 Yukon xl Denali, the ride quality is amazing! I drive 10 miles on a gravel mountain road to get to our cabin. Think, potholes, snow, ice, washboard is night and day compared to our bmw or ridge line. The cabin interior noise is a lot quieter than other cars too! You barely feel speed bumps or imperfection in the highway. I strongly disagree that it shifts you back and fourth. We also got the duramax, we get 30 mpg when we go over the pass (highway driving). When fueling up on fuel we get over 600 mpg between fuel ups. We didn’t buy this to drive in the city or parallel park. When driving in city we drive small suv. I am 5’6 and can easily reach everything behind third row, yes when you have third row down you have to climb in to reach things but I would expect the same the thing from any suv that deep. I do agree it can be hard to park in parking lot because of size, I just park out with the trucks and get my steps in 😅. Honestly my only complaint is the price, it was pricey but we plan on keeping it for a long time!
Did you guys ever get the front and rear parking sensors installed that weren’t there when purchased ? I do find if I use those and the 360 camera, I’m able to park it much easier.
I think it’s a cool looking truck. And honestly, it’s priced well too. It seems most full size suv today are 100k+
I think it only seems that way because reviews always seem to gravitate to the most expensive models with the most features to show off.
This one is only 69k
I have 104K on a 2016 model. It's had one leak in the front differential (~$800); otherwise normal maintenance only. It's been a great vehicle. It does fit in my standard size garage, so Jodi must have a different standard than I do.
A key drawback of the 2016 model was the suspension, which had a solid rear axle, was behind 2016 standards, and beyond primitive now. Cowl shake, stuttering, and similar vibrational issues are very much on display in this truck. Chevy substantially refined the suspension setup for the current model.
After 8 years I'm soon to replace it; I'm not going to buy another one but only because my kids are older and we can get away with a smaller vehicle next time around. But I would heartily recommend these to anyone who needs a vehicle of this size.
At least in North America, a standard length garage is 20ft. Some builders offer bigger garages in the West... mine is 24ft deep... plenty of space to fit a '23 Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
If you complain about the rear axle, these large SUVs were never meant for you. You should've bought a minivan and leave the real suvs for people that actually need them. A solid rear axle is what should be standard on ALL full-size ladder-frame SUVs. They can actually handle weight on top of them, unlike the junk on current Tahoes/Suburbans. Also, the rear suspension on the new generation has lower suspension clearance than most minivans. Can't even haul without squatting like crazy, and the ride gets even worse when compensating for squat.
@@iggibarsfunny, that’s what the Chevy salesman said too.
Anyone talked about the popping sound from the front wheels when you turn all the way left or right???
i would like to see more off road and towing vids with this truck
Now has dynamic fuel management. Good luck having it last long. The active fuel management in the old body style had lots of lifter failure.
A certain percentage of all cars have failure.
the 5.3 V8 reminded me of ancient forgotten history the 2007 monte carlo SS had a 5.3 V8 front wheel drive LOL. I wish they offered this engine in something lighter and much cheaper than a camaro. so you can get a v8 coupe with leather for 35k...not 45k..which I think is to much and cannot afford
Are the parking spaces smaller in CA? I have no problems parking mine in TX.
I Think the Z71 Tahoe is the Best Pack/Trim. I'll equipped whit the 6.2L V8
I have the the truck version of this... I went with the 5.3 as I don't want to spend Xtra at the pump for premium fuel.
How you work for Edmunds but don’t know how to parallel park a Tahoe? She is driving a full mile instead of parallel parking? Also she can’t fit it in a parking spot? I have the Tahoe Z71 and I have never had these issues.
Love my 2024 Tahoe rst
About the MPG. Mike drove it on a cross country trip (with family and luggage) and averaged the combined rating of 17 (actually 17.1). While Clint says the total after all the miles it currently has it's averaged 16.6. Thas still near what the combined rating is and you also have to factor in the city driving that I bet a lot of you all do while in the city plus all the other types of drivers you all have. Some want to go fast and others want to go slow.
I like how they’re bitching about the size and weight, but they never once mention it when it’s an electric vehicle talk about pushing an agenda
I want them to start advertising the carbon footprint from construction thru 5 years of average ownership of all cars. If they did that, no one would be pushing electric vehicles.
@@killerb5726 true but thats not the agenda man.. its to sell the ev cars because they have stake in them
@@killerb5726absolutely. I’d even go as far as wanting to see it 10 years out.
@@killerb5726just bought a K9 love it .
Most electric cars weigh as much as a suburban
Great review! Please get the new 2025 models with the bigger screen 📺
I have 2003 . And lov it , does everything I need , I want a new one with a diesel , not sure on trim levels,
"reprogram the computer"... lol I have a 2022 Silverado with 74,000km and the $%? radio freeze once every 3-4 days. They "reprogramed the computer" 4 times in the last two years. Wondering if they do anything... Because the same problem keeps returning... Why not just let me update it over the air?
Apart that, it is a good truck and I'm satisfied for what I use it for.
No adaptive cruise? That's insane. I can't drive without it.
Then you should not be driving.
If the third seats were reclining it be a lot better for long trips.
If it has a radar that can sense how close you’re following to warn you. there is no reason that it shouldn’t have adaptive, cruise control, other than they want to force you to buy a more expensive trim package.
Would have loved to see the diesel motor be in your long-term testing as opposed to the V8, which has been around forever
Long term should be 100k mile reviews
Are you giving it back to GM or are you keeping it? You should have a contest to give it away!!!!
Had a 22 Yukon Denali ultimate and got rid of it for my awesome 22 bmw x5M competition.not as big but I can whoop on 99% of the vehicles around me. 🏎️
Why would have the super Cruise feature is for the off-road people that use to actually work in terrains that won’t work. Like someone in Texas with 50 acre property or less don’t need that is just to get around
Nice redesign inside & out. My only complaint is the anemic 5.3 motor which is a dog compared to the Ram Hemi. I tried to find a 6.2 motor Tahoe in 2021 but they were all unavailable at that time so I bought a different vehicle altogether.
If the 5.3 is a dog can one say the 5.7 is a dog as well? Margina are within 1 seconds but if you take the 3.5 exo boost or the 6.2 theor margins would be a second to the 5.7. so it too is a dog.
@bryane2857 My 2021 Ram with Hemi E-Torque came with 395 horsepower & 540 foot pounds of torque & with my custom Flowmaster Super-10 exhaust & K&N cold air induction it now has 410 HP. It is no dog. The Tahoe should have come with the 420 HP 6.2, same with Silverado.
The 5.3 to me really isn’t a dog. But I drive a single cab long bed 4x4 Silverado the lightest configuration possible
@gobzillagaming1277 I have owned many GM trucks & Blazers over several generations & the 5.3 just isn't enough beans to move that heavy body/bed on frame construction compared to big block style 6.2. The 5.3 reminds me of the 305 inch 80's V-8 in the early Silverados & Camaros compared to a more beefy 350 inch with tune-port injection.
@@vinniecorleone62 the new 5.3s aren’t that bad they have good power for the application. At least it’s not like the Tacoma where those are very underpowered
I have a standard garage. Mine fits.
Would like to see the offroad capabilities.
I've had my Z71 for 1 year too... 22,000 less miles on it lol
This car is better then the Cadillac Escalade fr
There's nothing like complaining about things that are obvious when owning a large SUV.
Lack of adaptive cruise control at this level forced me to move to another make when my 2008 Yukon went to SUV heaven. So disappointed because I so badly wanted to stay with GM.
No adaptive cruise control on a $70K vehicle? What a shame
True opinion👏👏👏....AdaptiveCruise is now in $30k car🤪🤪🤪.....mileage is horrible😖😖😖....should be hybrid
The fake adaptive cruise was a shock
My only beef with my 2021 Tahoe Z is this horrible hum/squeal sound the front tire/axle area makes when you turn the steering wheel while the truck is still cold. It appears to go away once driving for a bit. Other than that love this thing and I just hit 40k miles.
You need new axle hubs
@@upshifter5316 thanks for the heads up.
No adaptive cruise control on a $70k SUV when my $27k manual transmission Si has it. No thank you.
Nice Honda said no girl ever ;)
take it off road and lets see how well the Traction Control does....
My main gripe is that they are over priced and no deals to be had unless you're a GM employee. So after driving GM trucks for over 40 years (1981 and 1989 K-Blazers and a 2001 Yukon), for the same money I'll be buying a 2024 Lexus GX
I think the new Lexus GX and Toyota Land Cruiser will take market share from the Tahoe. Also the Grand Highlander and Lexus TX for everyone that wants a big 3 row but doesn't tow.
@ The GX sells so little. I doubt it. 4runner may take some Z71 buyers away only because of the name and that it is smaller. Nissan should have continued to make the Xterra to keep the 4runner at bay, or they should have introduced the Patrol Super Safari to the US in 2 door and 4 door to compete with the Wrangler, Bronco and the 4runner.
@@ramaswamynarayanaswamy4806 The relative sales numbers are certainly different. It'll just be a slice of the overall higher end GM SUV numbers by the GX and LX. Like many dealers, Lexus is slapping markups onto their initial GX 550 sales. I'll be waiting until the "first on the block" buyers have gotten fleeced.
@@ktpinnacle I see. Thank you for the info.
You talked about how it was ok on gas at around 17 mpg. I couldn't help but notice at 2:33 the dash has average mpg at 11.4 . I guess you missed that.
That's the short term indicator. My silverado of the same vintage has shown as low as 8.9mpg while towing bit the long term shows 17.2 since I bought it.
A 6 cylinder IS available... in a diesel.
In the real world the Sequoia and the Wagoneer are worst in mpg. Are you kidding me with the 6 cylinder Wagoneer? It’s worst gas mileage cause of how heavy it is and makes that puny V6 struggle.
$7200 Cali sales tax😵💫
Get the Duramax. Over 500 miles of range.
Damn definitely upper class vehicle mpg and sticker price is insane! Ill keep my van am sure it rides better anyways and 25 mpg
You dont get this for the MPG but for the capabilities...... If you want the better MPG get the RST 3.0 Diesel
most people are getting ~ 18.5 mpg out of the toyota, and it's not nearly as spacious, so imo that's a wash
And the sequoia rides and handles so much worse and the quality is below par
My 2007 silverado LTZ gets 17 average out of a 5.3L v8 with v4 mode and new trucks still are about the same smh
@@TheMW2informerhardly.... If you think that you need to ride in one. Going from 2007, to 2015 to now each is a huge step from the next.
I drove every big SUV and the Tahoe was a lot bigger and better than the others. Sequoia was nice but seats not as luxurious. The Sequoia was big outside but felt smaller in driving area and cargo definitely limited in the Sequoia. Ford Expedition was very nice but the Tahoe was a notch better in many ways. Expedition screen was too big for me but some may like that. The Tahoe screen was big enough and fit better in the dash than the Sequoia.
Script reading 2:50 doesnt seem real in his expression he shouldn’t need a script to describe his experience it should be from his mind not a script
25k miles will never have significant problems it’s when you sell at 50k miles half dead 💀
Wow reability i was so impres..
Even a suburban fits in a standard (21 ft deep) garage. You just can't open the trunk. The old lady just talkin' nonsense.😂
No adaptive cruise control on a $70,000 car that isn't a luxury car brand is kind of insulting, especially since you can get it as standard on a corolla or civic which are almost a third of this price.
That bid expensive sunroof costs just as much to repair…
Tell me about it after 270,000 miles
There are plenty of GM SUVs with 3.4,500k miles
These are very popular SUVs and they’ve been reliable
The tahoe is 210 inches long. Your girl that ended the video needs some parking lessons and needs to sue her builder for her tiny garage
My wife and I have owned five Tahoe's (01, 03, 07x2, and 16). We now have a 23 Suburban. I will never go back to a Tahoe.
Reason. A Tahoe is 99% of the headache of a Suburban without the usefulness of ALL. THE. SPACE.
I can pack 80% as much behind the 3rd row in a Suburban as a Tahoe behind the 2nd row.
I can close the hatch with a full sheet of plywood.
2nd row captains chairs have way more leg room.
It rides better due to the longer wheel base.
MPG is marginally less. We just took our Z71 Suburban with the 5.3 on a 700 mile straight drive to Orlando. We regularly maintained speeds above 80-85. We only got about 14-15mpg. To get 17+ we would have had to keep it no more than low 70's. It might pull 20mpg if you set the cruise at 65.
And lastly, that lady at the end complaining about the Tahoe not fitting in her garage? You having to much junk in your garage is not the Tahoe's fault.
I can fit TWO Suburbans side by side in my standard size 2 car garage bay. Get a storage unit for your 1k worth of junk so you can park your 70k vehicle inside.
I have so much room inside of my standard garage that I can open the Tahoe hatch while it's parked in the garage! Something I couldn't do if I had the Suburban (even tho the burb would still fit).
@@McCAlexander exactly. She either lives somewhere that space is a super premium and "standard" garage means something totally different or have to much stuff in there.
Make them Toyota reliable, not just good looking
um you can get a 6 cylinder diesel...........
I'm sorry but 27k miles isn't long term.... And a budget of 70k much of a budget lmao. A real budget is like 30k
Jodi’s comments - annoyingly off base
No adaptive cruise for $70K?
Unacceptable.
Take it to 125k, that's more of a realistic assessment on reliability. Their tranny is terrible for the long haul
6 speed yes. 8 speed to an extent. 10 speed- too early to tell.
Car prices just doubled in the last couple of years like eggs! Besides stuffed with electronics and bling bling. None really improved. Same with the eggs. The most uncool vehicle a minivan like the Dodge Grand Caravan with almost 300 hp seats 7 comfortably, has a bigger loading capacity in total and does 27 mpg on the long run. Doing coast to coast! Oh, and it was half the price to begin with.😍
It's always astonishing watching these videos from Europe and seeing how Americans are fine with driving giant trucks higher than themselves as family vehicles and accept abysmal fuel consumption rates, which the rest of the world left way behind. I accept it as part of the American culture, such as the gun laws, but man, the year is 2024 and you're driving a 20 mpg truck.
Liked the old style better I don’t know why they got rid of straight lines truck looks like ass
Stop calling it a truck it's an SUV! Trucks have beds, a Tahoe doesn't.
A pickup truck has a bed. Not all trucks have beds.
In my view body on frame = truck
Woman complaining about driving is noting new. We all know how they cannot drive.
Such a fluff review, typical of edmunds
A 14 hour stretch of driving with a family constitutes spousal and child abuse.
Nothing says professional, like a $5 Tshirt to present to the entire world…
That lady I guarantee you drives a Prius and lives in Santa Monica with a Biden flag on her lawn.
I have had nothing but problems, lifters and cam replacement at 6000 miles, then total engine replacement at 11000 , plus transmission torque converter replacement, worst piece of crap I’ve ever owned
All of your pathetic GM reliability comments have gone out the window Oh the horror to you that GM products are reliable 😱
Tell that to my 04 suburban with 297,000 on the odometer. Never had a major failure.
@@standurst8762 damn that’s impressive.
My original coment was referring to the people who said GM reliability is garbage
Bottom-line: don’t buy an EV.
