When stopping the car fully , it is better to shift to nuetral ,apply hand brake ,release foot brake ,then shift gear to park ....This way hand brake will hold the car , which is a better option ,otherwise park gear will hold the car which is not good for gear box(in the long run ) especially on slopes ...
