    Curious if you master one track, then use it as a reference, how would affect a second track with
    regards to making them similar

    I am not sure what mastering is... This seems like it takes the final rendered audio file and applies a preset global eq, compression and stereo effects. I imagined mastering would involve taking each track individually and balancing them together much like you do inside a DAW.

      Mixing is waht you’re describing. Mastering is taking the final stereo files and doing the same but for an album. Meaning: Mixing is balancing and processing individual tracks (piano, bass, drums, vocals, etc) and mastering is balancing and processing the final mixes for an album (creating a balance for an album) Where confusion arrives is at the point where we tend to Master a single song (which is not the original concept of mastering) Mastering nowadays is more getting a song ready for release usually by taking into consideration the final distribution method. Hope this makes more sense.
