I'm an old rocker who has listened to Blue Oyster Cult since the 70's and all the comments about Don't Fear The Reaper, hell I just don't get it! To me this sounds nothing like BOC, just my two cents...
Agreeing with you Kelly. There are tonal similarities with the guitar lick but two very different songs. I've spent a good deal of time with BOC and I can pretty well assure you that they wouldn't object one bit to this. Probably cheer her on in fact. Pretty good tune.
Sad to know that this was written/recorded when she was in the middle of an abusive relationship. Lyrics take on a whole new meaning if you think abt how terrible he was to her. The man standing behind her in the end. She’s the one being watched. She said she calls those years of her life,” the bunker years” jfc. I’m glad she’s good now
I like her music a lot, but abuse is a 2-way street. No one but her & him know for sure what happened. If you listen to these lyrics, she wasn’t too easy to be around, either. Yes, it’s a song, and songs can be fictional, and they can be real-life, but most are a little of both. Listen to the words of most of her songs, and she sounds like it’s tough to be in a relationship with her, but that’s part of what makes her songs so great. I personally think she’s wonderful, but I don’t know her personally. I only see her from afar. Peace.
im not a guitar gear fein , i have the sound i want but i really wanna know is that guitar super compressed to get that uh awesome scream even on an ipad or such...? i would guess its some expensive analog rack gear but i would be really happy to hear its a plug in. please, anyone who knows for sure?! kind thanx
It kind of has a blue oyster cult vibe but I'm pretty sure Don't fear the reaper isn't the only song Blue Oyster Cult wrote. To me it sounds more like stevie nicks anyways. Either way it's a good song

Bit like Burning for You, I think, but yeah BOC is largely a lot heavier and more 70ish in their sound. I hear more Hole's "Doll Parts" than I do BOC.
