How to make 2nd Place Apple Pie

6 medium apples
1/4 c sugar
2 tsp sugar reserved for the top of the pie
1/4 c brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
1tsp cinnamon reserved for the top of the pie
1/2 tsp salt
1/4-1/2 tsp black pepper
2tbsp water
1 tbsp +1tsp of corn starch.
2 pie shells ( 1 in a pie pan and the other for rolling out and cutting strips for the top of the pie
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine all ingredients minus the cornstarch and water
Cook on the stove for 15-20 minutes over medium heat. Once apples soften make a corn starch slurry and add to the pot let it get bubbly and cook for 1 minute after that
Poor mixture in the pie shell in a pie pan
Add strips to the top and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture
Bake for 20-25 minutes and then dig in!
