This honestly sweet girl Feris isn't a "sociopath" or a "psychopath", she's just "afraid". "Fear" has taken full consumption of her thoughts, causing her to be unable to sleep, in turn driving her down a path of madness that normally she wouldn't be down.

The Isekai aspect was a pointless addition. Why can't he just be a resident of this fantasy world?
i was thinking the same thing the whole time. i think because the isekai market is hotter than general fantasy, so that was shoe horned in for marketing. no real idea, but that's what i'd guess.

It is one reason why smoking is/was so immensely popular among soldiers (obviously a stressful profession), but so are coffee and chocolate, both of which contain caffeine.
She was only like that because she was stressed and tired, as long as they stop that from happening again it should be fine
