- Taking a look at the French version of the Jaguar strike fighter, the Jaguar A. Currently at BR 10.3, this jet is the top ground attacker for France.

The cockpit is great, especially if you are a sim player. Having a map on the cockpit itself helps a lot in navigating to objectives and airfield. HUD too is excellent.
Well, usefull, but totally wrong. It's the British cockpit copy past i the Jaguar A, not the real French Jaguar A cockpit.
Yeah I was wondering why my Jaguar A cockpit looked absolutely awful (what is that hud man), I didn't know this was a Gr1 review wtf.
I love how visuals are a part of the review, after all, what’s the point of flying if you don’t have style to go with it
Its subjective, but important. Some of the planes are fugly, some are works of art.

yea. I really like how the jaguar looks. I think its really beautiful. looking forward to seeing good gameplay with the latter version.
Some beautiful planes are total dogs in the air, some ugly planes are rockstars in their field

It's what motivated me to find the French tree.

Well if you are going to play it casually at some WW2 era stuff it may be even fun. Just don't have any high hopes for the game, because it's just flawed by gaijins greed and worst online community ever.

@@TransportSupremo ; Because afterburner effects are just a texture. There are some custom skins and fixes you can use to improve the afterburner effect.
one more tip:
it has a short wingspan so don't go nose diving thinking u'll pull out at last second. You will crash due to inertia

Just remember it's not as good as the French variant, no magic missiles or countermeasures. It's definitely fun to use as you won't randomly rip your wings off compared to the swift series and you got two afterburner engines. I wish you luck as everything can outrun and maneuver you ❤

It wasn't in the video, but I realized what happened a few moments later and apologized in-mission for that one. Still feel like a chump about it.
On the note of it not having ATGMs, it's a bit of a shame, because it totally could (and might in an upcoming update, we'll see) - it was regularly fitted with AS30L's, which would function much the same as the laser guided missiles on the MiG-27M. With that getting a nose mounted targeting system for them (and the Jaguar having it as you can see on the nose of it), could be a nice addition.

French Jaguar got the laser designation kit with AS30L as you expected after 'ground breaking' update
It now has 1 ton LGBs and the AS-30L

so much suffer for us Brits main, lads
With the harrier having some 250x flares, I have a macro set up to just drop them every 2.5 seconds; makes me pretty much invulnerable to missiles and it lasts long enough to drop bombs, shoot a couple missiles, and land.
This is one of the coolest feeling jets to fly, but those SNEBs are totally useless. So bad, like not worth taking in any situation. It definitely has some crazy maneuverability outside of its sustained turn rate
It's silly too because the stats say they have like 300mm of pen. But I cant hit the broadside of yesterday with it

“It doesn’t have any guided air to ground weapons”, oh how things change.
The 250 kg bombs have nearly the same explosive mass than the 400 kg, and you can bring more of them.
I like the heat rockets, not the SNEBs, but the ECC something, good explosive mass for overpressure and very good speed and accuracy that makes it very easy to aim.

On the French jaguar, I've found that the 2 1000kg guided bombs are the second heaviest load out, so I take that plus the targeting pod and two magics in air RB

I find the multimode HUD absolutely brilliant for tree-top level, high speed bombing runs. Even when the third person bombing reticle does not show, the HUD's bombing mode gives you a very accurate CCIP.
And now, the Jaguar A also has laser-guided bombs and missiles. They are very hard to use against mobile targets, but can lead to pretty funny, long range attack runs.
Just recently got the Jaguar and I’ll say that up until getting the Magic’s, the gameplay was utterly mind numbing.
Bomb a base, try and run from MiG-23s and Phantoms. Sure you can flare missiles, but it doesn’t matter because you’re the SLOWEST thing at that BR, especially since 99.9% of games are full up tiers. It’s far more useful in ground RB with the laser guided bombs than it is in Air RB in my experience
I absolutely HATED the Jaguar for awhile, I had it but the stock grind sucked, no ordinance and this was before the flares so I had the rockets researched, then I got the flares and got the bombs, took it into and did very, very well, it’s one of my favorites in sim, the map is really nice for helping spot bases and the Magics are a great self defense tool
Once again thank you for the video! Here are some extra information for Jaguar A.
1. R550 magic is almost immune to flares. I had luck of witnessing this myself while an enemy phantom was dumping flares after I have locked and fired the missle.
I first thought I would miss my first missle, so I warmed the second and I witness constant locking of phantom only to be disturbed by flares for like .5 seconds. The moment I realized this, the phantom got shot down by missle. He probably dumped more than 20 flares, but surprised it still hit him.
2. When operating Jaguar A, you will realize the moment you touch your mouse or keyboard, it will significantly lose its speed (to the point where constant hard turning would be almost impossible).
And acceleration on the aircraft is not its strength. So try not to make maneuvers unless you have too. (You can actually see it on the video)
3. When you are fighting with supersonic aircrafts, you will likely to become baits. Enemies well know how slow your plane is, so once bombs and R550 missle have been uploaded, stick with your teammates.
The Jaguar has a fairly low thrust/weight ratio and (if I recall correctly) a heavy wing loading with only moderately powerful engines, so no surprise it isn't a great dogfighter. Then again that isn't what it's meant to do, so is poor turning and energy retention a problem? Perhaps given this is War Thunder.
Any missile will continue tracking if the target is dumping flares like crazy, they just lead back to the engine exhaust
Probably one of the best air rb strike aircraft.
I always felt like the jaguar was a fair fight. Maybe not with the Direct Hit update now but this is a plane thats always felt like its where it should be in BR. We need more top tier strike aircraft like this

Im farming RP on vatour right now, and im about middle of the 5th rank, still need to grynd mystere and 2nd vatour. And Etendard after that. And Jaguar itself, after that. But im alreadyhyped for that thing. Insane missiles, good bomb load (btw ground targets farm takes more time but gives more RP in the end, if you can manage 7-9 kill with those 9 bombs), good guns, decent speed, AND NOW IT HAS FLARES! And snails are downtiering mirages! Since german 6 rank has nothing special to offer, and im really tiered with american canberra farming right now, i think france will be my first tree with rank 7 aircraft. And i started the whole think with french air tree just to be ready when Mirage 2000 comes out, in 2023 if we're lucky...
Now that the MiG-21SMT is 10.3, will you be reviewing it? I think it’s a bit too strong for that battle rating
Yes, but it will be a while - where I recently did the Mig-21 Bis, I'm going to try and space out reviews of similar vehicles (if I don't bundle them into one).

The cockpit is wrong for the jaguar A. It's the british cockpit. The French one didn't have the navigation computer, and had a small screen for the guidance of laser guided bombs.
Honestly I hope they keep it wrong in this case, the navigation screen is super useful. :-)
Hey Tim, how do I make the grind more bearable? Grinding with the J35A in the Swedish tree has been a pain. Occasionally I get good games, but most of the time my entire team kills themselves, while the other team sticks together and combines into a fur ball… I know part of it is flaws with me, I could definitely do better with my tunnel vision, but my team randomly disappearing in the midst of all the A-5, AV-8 spam really doesn’t help…

I’ve just gotten the Magic’s and they don’t seem to work very well. For me, they were very underwhelming
I have a talisman on my jag a too I love it so much and ground out all my French air with it
I also played a couple of sim games and got 600k rp
And the hud with the ballistic computer is extremely nice

IMO it’s a hard aircraft to fly but it’s pretty okay at 9.3 once you get used to aiming the guns. It just suffers against opponents with good/many missiles at times
It's entirely dependant on what game you get. Get a 9.3/8.3 game, you will rip through anything that dares to stand before you
Get a 10.3 game, and you will will be forced to dance to the incoming dozens of AAMs

Does it grind sl good?
Very. If you can get a full load of bombs on a strategic point, and at least one air kill, you'll net-profit in SL.
Currently using the Mirage 3E to grind this baby, almost through the grind 🙏
use the c instead it's much better for it's BR
@@ravitejvarma3781 While that is true due to the weird weight and thrust issues the flares are a major reason and its been a relatively relaxed grind.

@@ravitejvarma3781 honestly from my experience pass on the domestic fighters except for the 7.3 MD.450B and get the U.S exports as they are way more reliable for grinding to get to the mirages and tier 6-7.

@@edison5378 Yes but again, you have to unlock them, and the Jaguar A is absolute trash when it's stock
It took me a while to get the first couple of upgrades, I had to fly out, gun-up some AAA, run for home to reload, rinse/repeat. I tried dogfighting in the stock plane, but .. it didnt go well .. so I grinded light ground targets for a while instead. Once you get that first bomb upgrade, the rest of the grind gets easier.
@@TimsVariety After watching your video, I gave the plane another chance and did pretty much that.
With help from the ballistic computer, I strafed Light pillboxes and rtb until I got the bombs. It's been doing okay after that.
Btw, I hope you managed to get a grip of that export F-5 :P

R-550 has better range, R-60m is all-aspect. Both are pretty good, but are used differently.

This jet is absolute ass yet amazing at the same time and probably one of the more jets I have to fly. This is my playing air RB purely never ground I'm sure it would do amazing in ground

The Jaguar A has got to be one of my least favorite vehicles to play. For 10.3 it's slow, it can't turn under 500mph, it's afterburner doesn't really feel like it adds much thrust, it has an underwhelming bombload, it's guns are pretty mediocre, and it has very very poor survivability considering pretty much ever time it gets shot, no matter how severe it is, it bleeds 150mph minimum in any sort of turn past 7g and then you either die from another aircraft going 6x your speed or the ground. If it didn't have magics, I would say that this thing is practically useless.
