Didn't show how to remove switch stem or bezel from old switch. Most parts manufacturers don't give you a bezel or switch attached to new part. Good video.
Important part missed in video The most important part about this great video is when your looking to remove the pull stick Push the little button with a spring on the bottom of your switch enjoyed this video thanks bruh
My 1998 Ram 2500 dashboard isn't 100% like the one in this video (I don't have the cupholder), and my truck has an NV-4500 manual transmission, so no shifter on the steering column, but the rest of the dash looks similar. My headlights won't come on, so I am assuming the switch has gone bad, and this video is my best hope of fixing the problem. Just praying that I can still get a replacement switch for a truck this old.
Thanks so much! My husband just bought me this truck. And, the headlights dont work. Either you have running lights and brake lights. Or, you have headlights with no brake lights. The guy he bought the truck from said it had to do with the wiring or the switch. So, I am totally confident that I can go buy a new switch tomorrow and replace it with Confidence. Thanks and God Bless
I just had a problem other day the dash smoked behind the switch and I have melted wires after pigtail for about 6 inch and dome light stayed on with a annoying ding rapidly and still had headlights but now I don't have dashboard lights or radio working. What can I do? It's a 1998 dodge ram 1500 1/2 ton 4x4
Was off to work one day and car engine would not crank. Noticed my headlight knob was completely gutted and some wires cut, apparently someone tried to steal my truck via the lights?? Battery is good, and new starter. Is it possible that the headlight wiring is why my truck won’t start?
+Jonathon Rola Thanks for checking us out! It's not likely that this would cause that issue, but not out of the realm of possibility. We would suggest consulting with a reputable local mechanic for further assistance with this. 1aauto.com
i know this video is kinda old but i have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 and none of my dash lights work when i turn on my headlights, i've checked the fuse and its good and the light dimmer wheel is all the way up can anyone give me any idea on what the issue could possibly be?
Actually it is a second gen dash, it's just a pre -1998 dash, they changed some things with the dash after 1999 such as the headlight switch and the position of the power outlet

How do you know if the switch needs to be changed?
Do you guys carry the whole dash with all the plastic parts because I need the entire thing
is it possible to bypass this switch maybe use a regular light switch
My switch did not come with a knob.
It would be helpful to show how to change the knob.
press the small metal button to release the shaft

Sadly my 1996 3500 full size van is not this accessible on the dash. Different design.
Hey Len so I got my light switch out and the receiver plug is melted. Where do I go from here? 96 Dodge 1500 4x4
My new switch came with a new plug to splice on. Even had shrink wrap.
@@grantdubridge7995 did you trim the wires on the harness?
My dad replaces at least one of these a year on his 95, kinda ridiculous if you ask me
Thank you so much
