I was in SC student section. You can see our section as we all wore white shirts. We won despite our QBs Sogge and Page. One [!} complete pass between them for the whole game! Page almost blew it when he fumbled the snap, deep in uclan territory with about a minute left!. Fortunately, our defense held, no last minute heroics for Heisman winner Beban !

Excellent film !!!!!! I was 8 yrs old at the time of this game & it's probably the 1st NCAA football game I ever recall viewing. Thanks for helping me relive a very nice time in my life !!!!! Also, Chris & Bud were SO GOOD together in the booth .

I was six, and living pretty close to the Coliseum, and S.C. campus. I kinda remember Beban, and of course Simpson...but what I really remember about '67 was shaking hands with Batman, and sitting next to "Ernie" from the motion picture "Hot Rods To Hell" at the circus.

My uncle had gotten front row seats and took my cousin, my older brother and me, but I don't remember much else but being "star struck" by sitting right next to "Ernie" (I can't remember his actual name) and when Batman and the Batmobile coming around to shake hands with the front row!
      And that wasn't all...
Outside after the circus, Evel Knievel jumped over cars or buses.
I saw Hot Rods to Hell at one of the big cinemas in Los Angeles when it debuted.
I think the first time I saw it on TV was around '73-'74 on the late late show, aka all night movies.

Me too. I was seven. My parents went to the game. I watched it on TV at a neighbor's house. Had I gone to the game, it would have been no time for Batman.

Wow! Thx so much for this! My dad took me this game as a 10 year old. I remember running around the field afterwards. Yes, we used to be allowed to do that.

I cant believe football games didnt have that box score graphic in the corner during TV games until like the 90s

This was the classic USC vs UCLA matchup - National Championship and Rose Bowl on the line. Gary Beban and OJ Simpson vying for the Heisman Trophy. Beban played a great game despite the sacks. OJ didn't really start eating chunks of yardage until the second half, but that's how the Trojans rolled in those days. It was the first college game I had ever attended. What I remembered of OJ's famous run was seeing the swarm of Cardinal and Gold jerseys moving down the left side of the field and the lone number 32 reversing across to the right to carry it in for the score.
I also remembered Andrushyzin's (sp?) missed PAT and how that made the difference in the final score.

Anyone else agree UCLA looked like the better team?

Not me. USC dominated the 4 quarter. Beban was on his back, towards the end. It was close and UCLA could have changed history.

O.J. stabbed, slashed, and sliced his way through the UCLA defense. His performance was cutting-edge. He took them on a chase back to his house (the end zone). Ultimately, UCLA died because of the altercation.

In the book titled "The Heisman: Great American Stories of the Men Who Won" by Bill Pennington, there is an entire chapter devoted to both Gary Beban and O. J. Simpson plus an insightful look at the historic significance of this game. In the book "Saturday's America" by Dan Jenkins, there is a chapter titled "One Saturday" that explains how the 1967 season played out for each team in leading up to this great contest and then offers a nice recap of the game itself.

Gary Beban said he'd rather have won this game than win the Heisman Trophy.

At least ten sacks, a pick-six, two blocked field goals, and an extra point missed out of intimidation. Anyone who says Simpson made the difference in the game instead of the USC defense needs to have their head examined.

My sister was a Bruin, pop's was a Trojan. Sis dated Rick Purdy. Her year book was iconic. OJ, Beban, Alcindor, Wooden. If UCLA would have won, they would have had a Natty in football and basketball that season.😮

UCLA should have won 30-21 but its kicker, Zenon Andrusyshyn, missed THREE FGs and one PAT. Zenon was later driving a new Porsche around campus.

That grounding call in the last minute was BS. For sure the ref was in USC's pocket - like always.

I was a junior UCLA student and I attended this (my first) football game. This game eventually determined the NCAA national football championship. You can imagine my sadness when we lost 21 to 20! The following game, UCLA played Syracuse University with star Larry Csonka. The students were depressed having barely lost the national championship to USC, so they brought out a toilet bowl! UCLA lost to Syracuse as well. {sigh} LOL!

Chris Schenkel the great bomb defuser. He refers to the USC's white kicker as a 'boy' 34:49 Because he heard Wilkinson call OJ a boy 34:18

27:00 That was a weird play. In all my years of watching football I never seen a QB snap the ball.
