I do the same! It works great on peanut butter...when I make peanut butter cookies, its such a time saver not to have to scrape the cup, it just slides out!!
I’ve made this for years except I use brown sugar. It’s exactly like carmel corn only no hulls! Spread it out on a couple of cookie sheets until it hardens and then store it!😊
Oooh I'm off work this weekend. I'm gonna try making this...but 2 batches one the way it is and one with cinnamon. I bet how buttery and sweet that looks it's gotta taste good with cinnamon.
I'd spread that out on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and add cashews or almonds, or peanuts, and even chocolate chips while it is warm, then sprinkle it with natural sea salt and let it cool down...awesome...makes a nice hostess or holiday gift!
Yummy! I make this but use light brown sugar not white sugar. Also I put puff corn in a large roasting pan..after I stir up mixture into puff corn I put roasting pan in oven at 250° preheated oven for 45 minutes stirring/tossing every 15 minutes. Then lay out parchment paper to cool. Break it up and put in ziploc bags. It's so yummy!
I have had this before... it is so good! The first time I had it was at a Christmas party (In June) a few years ago. I really liked it, so I asked for the recipe. I accidentally threw the recipe away, but now I have a recipe again! Thanks for sharing!
My step-grandmother made this. It was such a treat at Christmas and I can gobble it down! God rest her soul. We haven’t had it for many years. I don’t know if this is her recipe but it’s basically the same, I’m sure. So buttery and sweet and puffy.
Jan, thank you. I try to make goodies and send them to my grandchildren since I’m unable to see them. They will love this. You will get a better reaction (lift) if you use a wooden spoon and stop stirring when the sugar has dissolved. I learned that with my sponge candy. Also, I find your videos very comforting. Like a taste of home.
You probly are my verry most favorite person. Wish I knew you personally. But I will watch always! Your a special person. You are real . Love all the real of life you don't take out!
This is such a nice treat especially for seniors who have dental issues. I got the recipe from a friend (hers uses brown sugar) a few years before she died. It was her extra special Christmas treat because she had to mail order the puff corn at that time. It is nice to be able to get it easily now to remember a very sweet lady. Her recipe finishes off in the oven so I make it up in my big turkey roaster and it comes out like the richest, buttery caramel corn.
Hello Jan! It is truly delightful to see your videos. My husband and I have your channel in our favorites and really look forward to seeing you and the goodies you make (for you and your family) to share with all of us watching you. While I only know you via your channel, it can be said that you are true blessing and I keep you prayed up. God Bless you and your family!!
Thanks for sharing Jan! I have another similar recipe to share. Pour one bag bag or 2 small bags of those puffs in a really big bowl. Melt 1 bag of white chocolate chips in the microwave stirring every 20 seconds until smooth. When completely melted pour over the puffs and stir carefully to not break up the puffs. When coated pour out on parchment or wax paper. They look pretty if you top them with colored sprinkles before they dry. Delicious!
I just know that will be so delicious. It's a shame that all the great tasting snacks are so very bad for us. Tons of carbs, etc. Thanks for sharing this with us. ♥️ 🇺🇸 ♥️ 🇺🇸 ♥️
I can't wait to make this! I had a time finding puff corn, too. My Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market has it now, so I don't always have to buy it from Wal-Mart.com like I used to. My six year old doesn't like popcorn skins, so I had bought the puff corn for him, but now we all love it! I know your sauce will be incredible on the puff corn, so thank you again!
Hi Jan, I am watching from Essex in the United Kingdom. I love watching you and love your recipes. Your voice is so calming and reassuring and much needed in these difficult times. Unfortunately, not all of the ingredients are available in the UK but I'm sure they can be adapted. Keep up the good work ,Best Wishes to you and your family from the UK , from Diane xx
I use a large roasting pan to mix it all in. Also light brown sugar not white. Cook in roasting pan in preheated 250° for 45 minutes..stirring/tossing every 15 minutes. Pour and spread out onto parchment paper and cool. Break up and put in ziploc bags. I've been making for years.
**Hi Jan** The name looked so intriguing, that I had to watch! And anything that starts with half a pound of butter?? Well that's for me! You always bring us the very best recipes and ideas. With all you have to do, I don't know where you find time to watch for more! I've never seen the puffed corn in SoCal, but I'll sure look for it! Yours turned out delish looking! TFS, God bless and stay safe! 🌈🌈🌈
They look delicious I'm going to try them. A great way to keep the syrup or hunny from sticking to your measuring cup is to spray cooking spray in your measuring cup first. Works like a charm.
♥️♥️♥️Jan! I just made this yesterday! Haha! I’m so happy you found the Corn Pops! I always use salted butter, too. I make it for Christmas and Halloween, and I put in treat sacks to give to my neighbors! Aren’t they just soooo good when they’re warm?? I’m glad you got to make these. Big hugs!!♥️♥️♥️♥️
Jan, This recipe just won't work for me, as I love the puffed corn, a bag of it won't make it home from the store! LOL If I can contain myself, when I find a bag of it, I really will give this a try. It does look really good.
I have bought this type of product at Gorden Food Service and given it as gifts. People love it as well as I do!!! I am going to try making some this year. Thank you for sharing with us. I got a pair of eyeglasses from Zenni and LOVE them. So many complements on them and I love the pink with rhinestones that you have been wearing. Love and prayers for you and your family!!!
Spread the mixture out on a cookie sheet that you put waxed paper/parchment that you lightly butter . This prevents sticking together and it gets a nice crispy shell. Your way is gonna make it a big lump that's a bit wet
I’ve made this many times for Christmas treat plates and it’s so yummy all by itself! 😜😬 thanks for reminding me of it. That may be why you had a hard time finding them. Our stores generally have them after thanksgiving.
What a great new recipe. I will definitely be making this. I would think it would be best to spread it out on parchment or a sheet pan to dry. I like the idea of adding goodies to it. There's so many possibilities, red hits, tiny m&ms , nuts, tiny marshmallows . I think salted butter would help the flavor however, I don't know how salty the puffs are. I'm looking forward to trying this recipe. Thanks Jan 💘
I have had this before but did not have the recipe. Oh my, it is so delicious! Thank you for sharing this with everyone. I will be making it. By the way, what was in the pot on the stove. Just being nosey. Love your recipes! ❤❤❤
