Growing up in a small Iowa farm town, Jeff Shawd began playing the trumpet in 4th grade because his parents wanted him to play a wind instrument to try and improve his health and overcome asthma. It worked and Jeff got hooked playing the trumpet. While Jeff entered college as a music major he switched majors to pursue business because he thought the path was too narrow for him to succeed as a performer.
In this episode of Toot Your Own Horn: Music Matters you will learn how Jeff's love of the trumpet was something that stuck with him throughout his entire business career and helped him develop as a a business leader with Fortune 50 corporations such as DuPont, Wells Fargo and GE Capital while playing trumpet on a semi-professional basis.
