  • We all sure love Snappy, the little crocodile, right? A forgotten German song that once was everywhere and everyone knew him... but did you know he even had a video game? Also I think they should have continued to call him Schnappi in English, not... Snappy! Ich bin Schnappi, das kleine Krokodil... Please, help me! He is kinda cute though...

    Regarding the Japanese "version":
I do suspect that the Wikipedia page is inaccurate and everybody else copied it.
They're not listing any sources, nor additional info, like artists or labels.
Which is unfortunate and doesn't inspire confidence in the information.
My main reason however, is that friends from Japan don't know of an official Japanese cover of the song.
They know the song, but they know it in German and they refer to it by the name of シュナッピー, so just Schnappi.
Which kinda tracks, since I can find the German CD in multiple Japanese online stores for around 2000 or so yen,
Of course, they're no longer available for purchase as CDs.
Furthermore, if you check databases like oricon, change category to CD and search for シュナッピー, you'll get results for the expected releases.
Which are just the German versions, like シュナッピーと仲間たち (Schnappi and friends / Schnappi und seine Freunde).
If you look up the name Wikipedia mentions (刺々し、小さい鰐 - so "spiky, little crocodile") you get nothing.

The logic behind PS1 was probably just wider compatibility and lower development cost as all models of the PS2 can also play PS1 games. So releasing PS1 games made a lot of sense deep into the life cycle of the PS2.

Schnappi was prevalent in Poland too. It was quite a catchy song, though I always thought that it was part of something much bigger... like a cartoon or something. It was a weird concept of making such a song without anything else surrounding it...
...cheers for having Clone CD, eh, good times.
As for the game... I didn't know it existed. Like AT ALL. Though, I'm not surprised as it was Germany-exclusive I suppose? Still, a nice find!
...and don't diss "small" games! Harvest Moon: Back to Nature is around ~32 MB (Yeah, I was REALLY surprised by that too).
Xenosaga = *chef's kiss*. Nice flex tho.
...I still miss the times when such trash could just hit the store shelves. ...and I'm kind of jealous as the game sounds like a nice collectable conversation piece. Like "look at this thing I got"!
The video certainly was an interesting journey. It was nice to see more of your personal collection!
And if you're interested in upgrading your camera... I can wholeheartedly recommend Sony's alpha A6000 (or any camera around that model). It's great quality to money spent.

It appeared in a single episode of a German education show called "Die Sendung mit der Maus" (Which I never watched because who wants education if you can watch a sponge and his pretty dumb pink starfish friend?) and apparently the author of the song wrote many songs for that show and one day she decided to make a whole day for Schnappi and somehow it just went viral!
Well, I did say size doesn't matter... mostly! Also I don't think I can really flex with the Xenosaga games, except maybe with the first since I got the limited box for it (which was still relatively cheap at the time) =w= Really wish I could own the NA version of XS3 though but 300€ for a single game is... well, maybe if I win the lottery?
Same goes for the camera, 600€?! I guess in the grand scheme of things a camera for around that price could be considered cheap but I don't really plan on doing any real life skits or things like that and for that a little outdated phone should be fine... probably!

@@Vanserchan Personally, I'm just happy that I got Xenogears NTSC for good money.
...and... uh... you made me feel bad (or like a snob) for shelling so much on a camera (yeah, 600€ DOES sounds like a lot, come to think of it... it gets often on sale, though! I managed to get it for... ~500€?
And... it's not like... I got it and used it for like... 1 or 2 hours of footage? I totally use it for academical work too! ...totally. Uh...

@@Hodyna I'm happy with my JP version of Xenogears, mostly because that cover is so much better than the American one!
I mean it does sound like a lot but I think for cameras that still pretty cheap? Not like I got a lot of knowledge about cameras though, but I do know technology is just pretty expensive sometimes! Spending 500€ for something you know will carry you a long time is better than spending less but having to replace it faster!
