What a stunning village - I expect on a normal summer it must be crawling with people. Love to get inside penshurst place!

Back in my Manor again! Penshurst is one of the few places marked on the first proper map of England. Many other towns and cities (which did exist at the time) didn't get marked! I think it was to do with the importance of the owner of Penshurst. Eden and Medway are the rivers.

Thanks Nigel, so g;lad you helped with the River identification (Al should know better as he's only in Edenbridge ha,ha)...

Don't be fooled, I live at Penshurst and the estate manager/housing managers are brutally horrible to have as housing managers we're not allowed to walk around the estate without being told off simply bc we haven't got enough money to pay the rent.

The estate manager also framed the local post office person or whatever you want to call him, for over 20 grand. Police weren't involved at all because they framed him it was made up to get him off the estate. My family have lived here for over 20 years trust me it's not a nice place.

Dole stones or tables ... Maybe that's where our Englist term 'Dole Money' came from? Now called Universal Credit. LOL.
    What do you think?

I was thinking the same thing so could well be. Interesting....

@@MarqEnglish I often wondered where the term' 'On the Dole' came from. Now it all makes sense.

@@banjax66 Done a bit of scouting on Google and 'Dole's is of Germanic origin and the noun dole is from Old English 'dāl', meaning division, portion, share (dāl was a parallel form to dǽl, which is the origin of the noun deal).

@@MarqEnglish Oh, Ok that is interesting. But I still think the church Dole table makes more sense. Could the church's dole table come from the Germanic word Dole's?

      Not sure but could be.
