I'm working on a 2014 Focus that had P00C6 (Fuel Rail Pressure Too Low). Car would not start so I towed it home but now it does start and no codes so it is an intermittent problem (the most fun kind!). I measured the low side fuel pressure with a gauge and it was 62 psig. The low side pressure sensor as read by Forscan showed 74 psi. At my altitude we have 12 psia atmospheric pressure so if the sensor is reading psia it reads correctly but if it reads psig it is reading too high by 12 psi. I'm wondering if the sensor has an intermittent issue but it's hard to know unless it fails while I'm looking at the data.
With a rail pressure code, I'd lean away from the low side system typically. But with an intermittent problem, I can give suggestions in order if you want to load the "parts cannon" and throw parts at it. #1 inspect wiring at the high side and low side fuel pressure sensors. #2 replace the low side sensor like in the video. #3 replace the high side fuel pressure sensor on the rail (RELIEVE FUEL PRESSURE), #4 replace the high pressure fuel pump (under the hood, not the tank)
@@iguardwisconsinberry8830 I got a used high pressure pump and pressure sensor off of a car at Pick n Pull. It fixed the problem and super quick and easy to do.
@@iguardwisconsinberry8830 I replaced the high pressure pump and transducer with junkyard parts and it fixed the problem. I don’t know which one fixed it.
@@markmatt9174 no. Look on top of the back of the fuel tank with a flashlight. You likely have chewed wires to the fuel tank pressure sensor (mouse damage)
@BigBensCarsAndCycles can do. I had to replace that section 3 years ago (dang Squirrels) ate thru it. When I looked it all looks OK & the same. I spliced it under the back seat, so pulled back seat & took a look. All the heat shrink is still on & from outside looks great. Wires were soldered together with heat shrink (glue melt sealing type heat shrink) with still good glue. If I disconnect the plug again & ohm/meter the sensor & wires what should I have voltage wise & resistance ohm wise? Thanks greatly. Mark
I need to change my fuel rail pressure sensor on my 2014 ford focus but mine is located under neath where you check your oil could they be located in different areas because yours in the video is behind the engine it looks like I just need to know
Hi, sounds like you're talking about the high side. You might need to pull the intake manifold to access it. Just take a look around it to see if you can find it. I haven't had to do one. Make sure the fuel pressure is fully bled down! The rail can get over 1,000psi
Hey Ben I have a 2012 ford focus sel, I’m getting a p00c6 code (low fuel rail pressure bank 1 engine cranking) I replaced the back fuel pump, the hpfp, low side sensor , purge valve, and it still takes a while to start and when it does it shuts off, starts up perfectly when it’s cold, idles for 10mins and then shuts off, could it the high side sensor or a fault hpfp?
Just like a swedge lock. Two : 1/4 turns or until it feels like you hand tightened an Nitro RC cars fuel line with a 2 in opened end box wrench. except, its an 5 in opened end box wrench. snug, but not past. Using one finger to tighten two : 1/4 turns. If it does move after tightening two : 1/4 turns. Tighten 3: 1/4 turns. This method works dependent on the length of an open end boxed wrench. Just make sure it is tight enough, not to come off when you try to loosen the nut with intermediate force of the hand. over tightening, you'll know when the nut gives loose, which means you cracked the stainless steel. now you have to buy another stainless steel fuel line.
Hey Big Ben,i have a 2014 focus,i changed the fuel pump today,i put everything back together and it initially started rite up but it seems like it ran off the remaining fuel in the line shut off,now it just cranks,i can hear the pump in the tank and the hpfp but i dont get it,everything is connected back together..
Hi Ben, I have a 2014 focus which starts when its cold and shuts off when it gets hot. I checked the fuel pressure and the fuel rail pressure reaches to 9000kpa and it shuts off the car and doesn't start. After it cools down it start again. All the fuses are good. Any idea if its the high side fuel pressure sensor or the fuel pump? or anything else? Would really appreciate your answer

How about if I had a P0087 on a 13 Focus Se; replaced the High pressure fuel pump but my car still stalled.
Looks like the code is for low side fuel pressure low. I'd put a gauge on it to verify. Maybe the low side sensor is biased
im hitting a p088, high side. fingers crossed or else its a pump or actual injector regulator XO
Same for ST? (Location wise)
I'm unsure right off, but I believe it should be in roughly the same spot

Not for the low-side sensor

What DTCs (codes) did the car have?
Don't remember the specific code. But it was for low side fuel pressure sensor circuit low. Odds are, if you're asking, you probably need the sensor

No. You may need a tune up or intake valve cleaning
Will this fix gauge problems ?
A leaking purge valve can cause inaccurate "distance to empty"

The car can stall or not start. And have low side fuel pressure sensor circuit codes
will update, as possible reason for a p088, cheapest point to fix at the moment, hoping its not the injector regulator :,(
