    Stay cool this scorching Japanese summer with a mouthwatering journey through the most refreshing and delicious traditional foods! 🍜🍧
    As the summer heat intensifies, there's no better way to beat it than by indulging in Japan's iconic chilled delicacies. Join Shizuka on this delectable adventure as she explores the top summer foods that will not only keep you cool but also leave your taste buds dancing with delight!
    Our first stop takes us to the delightful world of hiyashi chuka - a tantalizing cold ramen dish that has captured the hearts of many during the hottest months. Followed by Morioka reimen, a specialty of the Morioka region. This Korean-influenced cold noodle dish offers a unique blend of flavors and a broth that's as satisfying as it is cooling. And we cannot forget the ultimate interactive dining experience in the summer: nagashi somen. Shizuka catches these delicate somen noodles with chopsticks while enjoying the summer vibes. No Japanese summer is complete without indulging in the fluffy goodness of shaved ice, or "kakigori". But not just any kakigori! This time we try the shaved ice with a twist! Watch until the end to find out what makes this shaved ice so special!

    Shizuka, this is well done the way you articulate and very caring tone you have when talking owner or deconstructing every layer of the dish.

    Thanks for the great video.
    However, there is an error in your explanation about chicken nanban.
    Chicken Nanban is not from the Kansai region, but from Kyushu region (Miyazaki prefecture).
    Also, you need to pour not only tartar mayonnaise on the fried chicken but also sweet vinegar called "Nanbanzu". (since this vinegar is the origin of the word "nanban" in "Chicken Nanban")
    And although the word nanban is an old word that refers to foreign countries, especially Portugal and the Netherlands, this dish is not of Portuguese origin.
    Nanbanzu (directly translated as "foreign vinegar") refers to a new sauce at that time that incorporated ingredients and cooking methods that did not exist in Japan more than 400 years ago, and is a sauce made by adding sugar and chili peppers to vinegar.
    If this dish is of Portuguese origin, then all dishes using tomatoes might be said to be of South American origin

    The Hiyashi Chuka Soba looked appetizing and also the owner made the soba look artistic! I was amazed the owner spoke Japanese very well. But you're a super trouper in handling the heat and humidity Shizuka! I remember when I was in Japan during the summer, I was taking a shower twice a day and drinking a lot of ice cold beer. My favorite for summer is also the the simplest. However, it may be a northern Japan thing: 生豆富 『Namadōfu』:: simply a wedge of Tofu topped with fresh finely minced Ginger then amply slathered in Shōyu or Tamari...

    • @chrissonnenschein6634
      @chrissonnenschein6634 10 місяців тому

      Another is fairly simple as well - have no idea what is called :: A fillet of Salmon descaled but skin on. splash of oil massaged about then placed under the broiler until lightly crispy. Covered in Ōroshi Daikon (a special kind of grated that is more of a pulp), then amply drizzled in Shōyu or Tamari.

    I weep because my chopstick skills aren't nearly good enough for most of the foods featured! This episode was a lot of fun. I sent the link to a friend who is currently in Tokyo.

    Lol I find it funny how the man said there’s always a cloud over the mt. Fuji even on a clear day and the camera immediately pans to a picture of it and has no clouds over it😂

    Maybe eating a hot bowl of ramen has the same effect on your body as eating spicy Mexican food. It actually has a cooling effect. Well, I love both ramen and Mexican cuisine and will eat either no matter what the weather is.

    To survive the summer in Japan, I'll indulge in delightful ice-creams and savor the taste of delicious fruits and salads. That would be refreshing. What have you done my Japan by Food friends? This episode feels a bit off-topic to me but I enjoyed it the same... 😲😉🍧🍨❄🍊🍍🍇🍐🍌🍉🍈🥗🥗
