The doctor in this was, I believe, the psychiatrist in season 1, Bananas Crackers and Nuts, and I believe he played a plastic surgeon later in the series. And of course, Major Charles Emerson Winchester III!
Wasn't it two episodes ago that Rhoda was demanding that Joe be quiet so she could concentrate on her window designs and he thought it was unreasonable?
Cindy Sloan Lol. They seem to have quite a few episodes where Rhoda or Joe does the same thing the other one did in some other episode. And episodes where one of them has some issue & the other one has the same exact issue in another episode.
Well...yes. Although concentrating to do some creative work is a lot different than watching a noisy game. It's not so much listening to a game, is mostly watching anyway, so he didn't really need to ask her to be quiet on the phone or in the kitchen. But obviously, this is just a show. Luckily I can write in noise but I could use a mug or a sign: "DON'T TALK TO ME RIGHT NOW! I'M WRITING."
A cellphone would've helped that problem real quick when Joe was trying to watch the game... too bad they would have to wait 3 decades for that to happen lol😊
And everyone was on Rhoda's case about Joe making noise eating potato chips while she was trying to work ,a few episodes ago. Now who is at fault ? He is just watching a football game and she can't talk quietly on her own phone ?
There are two MASH actors on there, obviously David Ogden Stiers, but also Mike Henry who played Hot Lips hubby at one point I think is the second man who sits down on the couch I think.
I really wish people would put more effort into dressing up these days. I'm so tired of seeing Crocs, slides with dirty socks, sweatpants, yoga pants, pajama bottoms, and hair bonnets. It seems like most people just look so unkempt now.
I must have seen this episode a dozen times, but now I can't help but wonder why, when Joe and Rhoda left the apartment to give Sally and Arthur some privacy, they didn't just go into the hall or head down to the lobby. It would have been warmer.
David Ogden Stiers from Mash appears as a looney patient in the waiting room. He has a different accent. Susan's shrink husband is disconnected from his feelings and a jerk.
YES!! It was fine for Season 1, very creative opening titles. And for Season 2, some idiot on the Rhoda production staff had the idea to completely change it to this blaring LALALA - LA - LA thing. You have to mute it or skip over it. TV audiences of 1975 had to sit through it! Or go over and turn the volume knob on the set!
I wouldn't want to be married to any shrink. Most would probably try to analyze your every word, or if you bit your fingernails. That guy Arthur on this played on Love American Style alot, and was also the snitch Angel on Rockford Files. Suzy looks kinda like Katy on My Three Sons. Anyway, I wish Suzy were on this more. She is funny. That Rick looks kinda like Dr.Baker on Little House.
Omg I’ve been wanting to say throughout every episode: All those misplaced, impractical baskets hanging over those open shelves makes me crazy. Who designed this set?
Someone who knows more about design than you apparently. That was a style back then... and still is today. Google wicker baskets on wall design... actually don't-- you are too dense to get the meaning behind the style and purpose.
Stuart Margolin played the over the top would be suitor of Mary on Mary Tyler Moore Show. And Beverly Sanders was the waitress 'Rayette' in a couple of episodes. You see quite a few MTM alum on Rhoda. And yes, worst theme song ever as said below LOL....
I looked it up on IMDB. The first guy, Mike Henry, played Donald, Margret Houlihan's husband. The second guy, David Ogden Stiers played Charles Winchester so they were both on M.A.S.H.
women need to understand when it is game season and they do not have interest into it have courtesy for those that do and be kind and keep quiet . I a female fan hate when anyone disturbs me for anything unless it is an emergency or the house is on fire
Just wondering if the commenters who were upset with Rhoda needing Joe to be quiet so she could work feel the same about Joe being so rude about the football game.
Neena Norto that had to be the dumbest comment in history! LoL, Rhoda is a people person and Joe is a self righteous moron! It’s a sitcom not real life, jeez people!
@@kelleymariejones6388 , No marriage partner would stand for a revolving door of people to violate their privacy. Rhoda was so inconsiderate to Joe, and it was understandable why he left her. Maybe all these people can live at your house, instead of Joe's. He would appreciate it. He did not ask a lot of Rhoda, he just wanted a marriage partner, not a 3 ring circus.
That blond guy named Rick is conceited for no reason, he isn't good looking. Arthur has been on so much shows. He was often on Love American Style. On one episode of MASH, he was a shrink. Doesn't Brenda have a life? God, she is often at Rhoda and Joe's. She practically lives there. For being newly married, Rhoda and Joe were never romantic. I always liked Susie. She played on sitcoms, too. Weird how a woman who could barely stay married only 3 years before getting divorced was giving advice to a woman who was married for 12 years. I didn't like Rhoda's hair style in this ep, when talking to Susie...looked like a little girl style. Charles from MASH!! His voice sounds funny in this.
Rhoda is so effing unfair and overbearing, guaranteed to lose a man, doesn't she tell Joe to be quiet and move into the other room etc. when she is working? Doesn't he live there too, and Brenda always over there just like he didn't want when they did not yet have this apt. And why not turn off the stove and go to Brenda's apt. to discuss the stupidity that she always want to discuss. Roll eyes!! How did I ever admire Rhoda?????
I think Rhoda's character was she was a terrible wife and Joe tried his best to put up with her. She was too much work to live with. It is too bad they didn't have her being a normal person with him over time and they stayed married. Getting divorced shouldn't have been something to make acceptable when they started with all good intentions and love.
Rhoda's blouse is gorgeous. So 70s with the colors and design . Just love it. I would wear it now.
The clothes in this series are timeless. You could wear them today.
I luv all the old shows there the best. Jefferson/threes company/ bewitched /good times & more 🙎
Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart Show, Maude, Facts of Life, Different Strokes, Fame
And the best of all, MASH.
Why did they write out Joe? They should have given Rhoda & Joe kids - imagine the situations with Ida! The Show lost a vital ingredient.
Just love all these faces, all 3 men were on MASH
Did David Groh appear on MASH?
The doctor in this was, I believe, the psychiatrist in season 1, Bananas Crackers and Nuts, and I believe he played a plastic surgeon later in the series. And of course, Major Charles Emerson Winchester III!
Beverly Sanders, as Susan Alborn, was so great. She was also Rayette, the attentive coffee shop waitress, on the MTM Show.

You Got him!
The writers are leading up to the separation. Joe’s acting like a you know what. And why no phone in the bedroom?
Joe is at home, relaxing. Rhoda was at home, doing work that she could have done at her office.
3:02 The expression Susan was looking for was "unflappable." (as in the unflappable Dr. Van Helsing)
Joe was always angry! I couldn't stand him.
I think I would rather go to Bob Hartley (Bob Newhart) for counseling, haha!
You’re right. Bob is way better.
Much more fun with Dr. Bob Hartley.
Auther played on Rockford's files as Jim's sleezy friend who always got him into questionable situations.
@vivianhamilton616 *Arthur 🙂
Susie's husband treated her like a child. I would've left that jerk so quick.🙄
Arthur was an interesting character. He finally found his inner beast. Amateur therapy provided by Rhoda Morgenstern.
Wow. That's the guy from Love American Style 😁 Great show.
A cellphone would've helped that problem real quick when Joe was trying to watch the game... too bad they would have to wait 3 decades for that to happen lol😊
Wow!! He treats his wife like crap!! Shame on him!!
they closed the curtain on the terrace just like on the Mary Tyler Moore show when Mary said she could not watch Ted cry.
That husband of Beverly Sanders used to be on "Love American Style" alot, and was Angel on "Rockford Files".
She was on MTM, too, as a waitress.
Very good actor. I often blend him together with fab actor Mandy Patakin.
I love the parade of characters Brenda has had to go through as dates. The best part is she ended up marrying Benny, who was perfect for her.
Benny was an idiot.
How did Susie and Arthur conceive six children together without demonstrable affection? Did she do all the work?? Just wondering.
There are people out there apparently who can do it wihout a lot of affection or care
I just caught Brenda's Meuse poster in the restaurant. The lamp may be from Rhoda's apt. Hmm.
And everyone was on Rhoda's case about Joe making noise eating potato chips while she was trying to work ,a few episodes ago. Now who is at fault ? He is just watching a football game and she can't talk quietly on her own phone ?

Wasn't Rick's a singles bar in an earlier episode?
Ugh. Being married to a psychiatrist like that would drive me crazy.
Emily Edwards ha ha!
Emily Edwards The same as being married to a nerd or a geek.
WideTubeVision4 Not really. lol
+WideTubeVision4 not in the least.
I was married to a psychiatrist. yes, you are correct: she was a geek.
I like Rhoda's cape and clothes. David Odgen Stiers from MASH.
Ahhhh the clothes! But I’ll never understand why they always over-dressed VH in so many layers?!? It made her slim figure look much bigger.
I really wish people would put more effort into dressing up these days. I'm so tired of seeing Crocs, slides with dirty socks, sweatpants, yoga pants, pajama bottoms, and hair bonnets. It seems like most people just look so unkempt now.
I love the Hobbit cape
I must have seen this episode a dozen times, but now I can't help but wonder why, when Joe and Rhoda left the apartment to give Sally and Arthur some privacy, they didn't just go into the hall or head down to the lobby. It would have been warmer.
Because it wouldn't be funny, that's why.
@@AnnaMaledonPictureBookAuthor yeah yeah, take away realism for the sake of the comedy, I get it
Yes, stuff like that. Guess writers thought it'd be "funny" in that scenario, him closing the curtains
LOL Stuart Margolin. Love him. He was pretty funny in Rockford Files. :)
tall32guy He had range.
Wasnt he in alot of "Love American Style" episodes I loved that show as a child
@@jacquelinerussell8530 yes, I believe he was, good memory.
David Ogden Stiers from Mash appears as a looney patient in the waiting room. He has a different accent.
Susan's shrink husband is disconnected from his feelings and a jerk.
was it me or did she pour an empty pot into the tomato sauce at 7:48 LOL
you are right it was empty and she pretended to taste the sauce.
True!! I noticed it too. 😂😂
Yes!
This was awesome!
Rhoda's hair is really cute in this episode
Arthur looks like an older version of Hyde from that 70’s show
He’s already inside the apartment building but she tells him to not stand out there in the cold🤣
I love this show, but this version of the theme song was just so awful. No wonder they changed it again very quickly.
I remember it well. We handled any crap music for TV programmes in tne 70s!
Isn't it though ? I thought it was just me who couldn't stand it lol
Horrible off-key boys La la-ing.... bad!

It must be hell to be married arthur! I would hate it!
stupid question Brenda what do you think Joe is doing can you not hear he is watching the game
13:25 its Charles from Mash! Much younger of course. and without the Boston Blue Blood voice
Well.... It's Winchester from M.A.S.H of all people, LOL
The key is under the mat. Spread the word. Ha!
I loved when joe was married to rhoda
Me too. Its like everything was alright with the world.☹
There was a comfortable coziness when Joe and Rhoda were together in their apartment. The writers ruined that.
He forgot to say "Hello this is Carlton, your doorman". I guess the next time we see Susy in an episode she'll be pregnant again.
Or Ida Moganstern! HA HA!!
Yup, Ida had all the answers. The questions didn't really matter.
I wonder which network exec thought this was a good theme song.
Erik, There wasn’t anyone like Rhoda 😄
you post this same comment on every episode. You must really like her.
That periwinkle blouse with the coral tones is gorgeous...the scarf around her hair! Too bad it was poly...

People who lived in the 1970s.
Someone who knows more about design than you apparently. That was a style back then... and still is today. Google wicker baskets on wall design... actually don't-- you are too dense to get the meaning behind the style and purpose.
EXCELLENT SHOW
glad someone else finally noticed
Now we got Mike Henry, Tarzan LOL
The wonderful Stuart Margolin, as Dr. Arthur Alborn. Previously seen on the MTM Show, as Mary's wacko stalker, Warren Sturgess.
Love seeing Stuart Margolin playing a shrink.

Turreffeck!
Good old bob that’s the person to see ha ha
I didn't realize how many men guest stared on this one!
At times it seems the female performers all have sunburns not bad sunburns but it is obvious 'they' were somewhere 'they,' had fun in the sun.
Their refrigerator color changes from yellow to brown..
That changed a few episodes back when they changed the couches. They seemed to change the set a lot this season.
Stuart Margolin ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The first patient played Margaret's husband Donald on MASH.
He played Charles Emerson Winchester, the haughty doctor who replaced Frank Burns. He also was the voice of the clock on Beauty and the Beast.
Tara Butzlaff no, the patient in the room with the Dr. Was hot lips husband. The man in the waiting room was Winchester.
I looked it up on IMDB. The first guy, Mike Henry, played Donald, Margret Houlihan's husband. The second guy, David Ogden Stiers played Charles Winchester so they were both on M.A.S.H.
Cute episode 😂😂
y they embarassed kissing in public? theyve had 6 kids! lol
Stuart Margolin is always a hoot. He was also good on Mary Tyler Moore as a creepy obsessive stalker who was nuts about Mary.
women need to understand when it is game season and they do not have interest into it have courtesy for those that do and be kind and keep quiet . I a female fan hate when anyone disturbs me for anything unless it is an emergency or the house is on fire
and the same ETC from here apt in minn....
And he carried her out of the apartment in supposed 35 degree weather with no jackets and her in a short sleeved blouse. Right🙄
charles is in this one
Joe! Yes
Just wondering if the commenters who were upset with Rhoda needing Joe to be quiet so she could work feel the same about Joe being so rude about the football game.
Hang on, wasn't that vain, ugly guy running the same place as a singles' bar a few episodes ago? Now it's a restaurant that requires ties?
No wonder Joe left her she deserved it .Letting every body use their home be used half way house

The Them Song is irritating but loved her show miss her❤
God Family loyalty woman and men please 12.5❤
Can,t do anything about it cause it was all ready done I agree the theme is Alful
The no bra rule in the women's contracts was a mistake I feel.
Lol
Anyone else agree that Joe was a total creep! He mentally abused Rhoda all the time! She was always walking on eggs around him!
and a J too.
mtmepisodes2 I didn't see your comment before I had added that. The "R" is more apparent.
If it's not Rhoda and her husband getting wet, maybe it's her sister Brenda and her main squeeze. Ohhh what a rush!
and tarzan to
She still acts like a pregnant woman
Mr. Brooks laughter in the audience is horrible and distracting. Like the kids singing the theme song
The person with the distinctive laugh plays “ Carlton the doorman” from Lorenzo Music…. He is amazing.. we have a different perspective…
that was a cute 1

horrible not-funny episode
The man crying was Mike Henry who played Tarzan in the movies.
Joe is right Brenda is ALWAYS THERE like Rhodas Friends why is Rhoda,s crap ALWAYS more IMPORTANT the Joe watching a ball game
