Would love you to go even more in depth about this. Rodent control, temperature, ventilation, spoilage and how often you check for it, best varieties... thanks!

Love your carrots! 🥕🥕It's no joke those posts that show tiny carrots. That is what we get. Bunny food! 😅

I did try to root cellar store bought carrots, and in my experience, bc store bought produce is cleaned, they do not store well at all. It was disappointing, bc I had bought a huge bag of organic carrots. I have experimented with home grown produce, and they store very well unwashed. I did find damp sand worked better for me than damp sawdust, bc I just had access to pine shavings, and the carrots started to taste like pine (maybe my storage was a but warm too, so they started to grow a bit).

Do you harvest any of the carrot tops for greens or soups?

Love the fresh produce you grow so healthy. Being in that cellar area by that door, does it get cold that the vegetables freeze or not?

Where do you get clean shavings. Are they different from work shop saw dust? Can those shavings be used more than once, or is it one time only?

For those of us who don't grow as many boxes of carrots, bales of shavings can be purchased at farm stores like TSC. It's animal bedding.
