I hope whoever watches this video can be patient enough to read the translation if you can't understand Mandarin. This is a captivating talk.

I am totally touched by this talk. The novelists, such as Mo Yan are professors of life and philosophy and brave to reflect themselves and their society. People that really understand this talk know what I am talking about.

There are so many critical life lessons from MO Yan's lecture. More importantly, most of them came from MO's real stories. Hope the English captains can interpret them well and let more people know about this lecture.

Ironically, Mo is heavily criticized by some fanatical nationalists for his descriptions on rural area in China in several books are ‘smearing’ the great, fertile People's Republic of China. How hard is it to be a writer with a conscience in China? Well, far beyond your imagination.

This was originally streamed live - and glitches will happen. It looks like the bandwidth fell for a while around that time. Part of the challenge of live broadcasts. Thanks for watching!
