Ben do yourself a favor and get some hard upper and lower IC pipes with silicone couplers instead of that 15 year old oem rubber crap.

I was about to suggest the same. The OEM pipes are horrible. Hard pipes really make a big difference on the evo, as well as an upgrade to the OEM wastegate to a turbosmart which will help hold boost in the upper rpm, and a grimmspeed boost controller. While you are at it, send your turbo to Kirk at BoostLab for an upgrade and you will have a stock looking turbo that will put out 400+ !!! Let's see you chase the lap leader after that :D

Dude. Don't worry about the pressure and sponsors. Your easy going nature is what can help you when you face heartbreak in competition. As for your sponsors, your viewers will stay committed no matter what your performance on the track is. Your sponsors better know this too. I know they are the first brands i go to or exclusively shop with. We are excited to watch yours and Ben's growth.

It's sad but also appreciated to see the struggles that even the best have to get on track. I feel like that's filtered out too much these days. UA-cam and other channels tend to hide the real issues that the people deal with. Thank you for showing that.

I totally get your disappointment about not being mentally ready. My first autocross event after years of not racing, I got lost on course. Not just once, but several times in a row. I was ready to throw in the towel and go home out of embarassment and frustration. I stuck with it (thankfully). The track or an autocross demand prep and mental acuity that forces the driver to be focused. In season two I’m now at least average but also know how to improve. Thanks for sharing an experience that wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s the reality of competitive driving and part of why it is such an awesome sport!

I'm digging into a different type of racing, and every other weekend I'm left with those feelings of "needing to turn it on"... it's hard to leave it all on the track when you know you have so far to go. This is exact reason I believe the SCCA time trials format is better than the gridlife time attack format. SCCA takes your best time from each day, adds them up, then whoever has the lowest overall time wins. This makes it so it actually worth it to drive everyday of the event no matter what the weather looks like.
