Same, I dont really see why this is a challenge. I guess because he got used to playing with scuff, but still, I don't really think playing without scuf is hard.
+Astvtic That's exactly what I'm trying to show to all of the people that think having peripherals like Scufs, Kontrol Freeks, and Headsets do all the work for you. I often get accused of only having skill because of the peripherals I use. I want to show them that these things don't create skill, they simply enhance it.
For the next week on Monday do the knife only challenge. Win a tdm coming in the top 3 while using the combat knife ONLY. No scorestreaks or specialist abilities/weapons. Then on Wednesday add a specialist ability/weapon and win a domination match with the most caps. Then on Friday add scorestreaks and win a FFA game. ANY KNIFE IS ACCEPTABLE; FURY'S SONG, WRENCH, BRASS KNUCKLES ETC.
Pretty sure a wrench is a wrench and not a knife and brass knuckles aren't knifes either 😂😂 I just wanted to state that but I understand what you meant by knife only
Scufs obviously help more with all the jumping boosting futuristic bullshit they've had in the last couple games. They wouldn't have been nearly as big a deal in Ghosts and games prior to that.
I don't find it uncomfortable, it does take few days to get used to it from regular hand configuration but it's more natural to me to play claw rather than regular.
Played with both and yes, scuff or an elite controller does give you an advantage over those that don't have them or those that don't use claw or bumper jumper. Obviously it doesn't give you skill but in a head to head gun fight a jump shot while being able to aim at the same time is very noticeably good.
Personally owning a scuf, I really couldn't play without it. It's really only worth it if you get all the options but the trigger stops are the biggest factor. You win so many more gun fights. Especially if you have a monitor too.
I have an idea for a 3 episode challenge; You go on Nuk3town and do the easter egg with the hrads and stuff. Then, you see how long you can survive. The first episode you can use a gun, the second episode you need to use a melee weapon (like the combat knife). And the third episode you must use your fists. Weapon and specialist are all your choice. Please tell me what you think of it👍
Ace next week change you controller configuration. On Monday play on default(if you play tactical normally, otherwise play tactical) on Wednesday go back to regular button layout but play inverted on Friday go mental and swap your sticks. On each day return all other controller configs to your normal layout just make one change per day. Good luck I'm looking forward to seeing it happen. Love the vids keep it up
As a really aggressive player, I can say that a scuf controller certainly helps a lot, but in digression, it's harder to play aggressive against an army of kn-44s chilling in their favorite rooms.
You can make do without a scuf or a control freek, but I feel that a decent headset is essential. Having good knowledge of your surroundings by listening (Footsteps, boosts, lethals, tacticals, specialist abilities etc.) will allow you to survive way longer and get a good streak going 👍
control freaks made a huge difference to me. I was losing so many 1v1 gunfights at midrange. I got them and my KD ratio went from 0.6 to 1.0. it's not an instant fix but they help for sure.
You can also use Bumber Jumper layout and have the same effect as Scuf. This will make jumping L1 and Aiming L2 (you can swap). I can use it but because I never use my middle or ring finger, I don't do as well as this layout can allow (I only use index finger for bumber buttons/triggers.
+Jason Murphy For games like these in my opinion it's crucial. If you have an Xbox go with the elite. Way better build quality and it won't break down after a month like my SCUF did.
headset is extremely useful in some situations though. It can help you catch tough/surprising situations before they come at you. Like if all your teammates are away from you and you are surrounded. You know which enemies are coming at you. But it definitly is not needed. I've gotten plenty of streaks without headsets.
Never needed a scuff or to jump and shoot at the same time for that matter and I always finish top 3 on my team and have a 2.86 k/d. I even use the default button scheme, I'm sure a scuff helps but it really is how you play. It all depends on your play style, you have to play totally different i.e. (Use lots of cover, don't jump all the time, USE CROUCH) And I still have a very "aggressive" play style as you guys say.
The advantages of a Scuf honestly don't shine at full potential in pubs against random/average players, so I'd say using pubs as means to argue that Scuf's aren't considerably advantageous is a bit of a bad argument. Play competitive matches with other skilled players who are using Scufs (not even remotely uncommon to come across), & you'll quickly learn just how OP Scuf controllers are in BO3. Sure, you can play claw to compensate, but a few hours of "try-harding" in claw will have your hands feeling like they've been tied in a pretzel. Scuf controllers aren't selling like hot cakes for their looks alone. I've been using a Scuf since BO2, & no game since then has benefited from the mechanics of a Scuf controller like BO3 has. I'd even go as far as to say that consistently competing well against above average players who are using Scuf's most likely won't be possible without having one yourself. Tbh, I don't like how advantageous Scuf's are in this game. Sure, some would call me a hypocrite for having one, but that's my stance nonetheless
Hey ace, maybe u can try incorporating bumper jumper or stick and move and seeing how that compares to scuf. I know I would be super interested to know, a scuf isn't in my budget and I play bumper jumper
I think that, considering how correct you are regarding the fact that these peripherals certainly don't replace raw skill, a more fun series would involve you playing on a high sensitivity. You can strip down someone's game and remove headsets, Scufs and so on, but most people will always be *overly* dependent on low-mid sensitivities and never really develop any kind of gun skill when they're can simply settle for waving their right stick around over an enemy's aim assist zone combined with that slower sensitivity. It would be interesting to see what your accuracy is like with an 11-14 sensitivity 👀
***** I'd be worried about anyone who thought they were good just because they use a high sens... I guess the same could be said for anyone who thinks people do because of that 😂
***** it's funny you say that. I started out with MW3 on 2 sens and moved to Ghosts where I would use a 4 and sometimes a 5. My transition to high sens was a little unusual -- it was a direct jump from 5 to 10 after 15 minutes trying it against bots, and after a month I had gone through 12, 14, 15 and finally 16. That's what I settled on and ended up using in Ghosts and then AW. I got bored of Advanced Lagfare and tried out BO1 and BO2 for the first time (using 9 in BO1 and 11 or 12 in BO2), and it took me a while to find a go to sens in BO3 because it feels slower overall (not sure if you or anyone else have noticed the same?). For that reason I played around with 10 sens all the way up to 14, but eventually landed on 11/12 again since they're equivalent to 16/17 in Ghosts or AW. What I've found is that whenever I've tried to go back to my old sens range (5/20 or equivalent ), I've really struggled 😂 whereas before it was easy to drag slowly on to the target and then had the ability to wave my stick around somewhat recklessly, allowing me to be a bit more sloppy with my control, I've become so accustomed to being forced to make minute, precise adjustments that slower sensitivities now hurt me more than anything. Of course it's also hard to get used to not being able to turn or check corners at lightning speed again; that's always the main advantage with high sensitivies. So I guess you're right, but the main reason for that is most people assume low sens is best and then *start* out with that, becoming used to it and thus become comfortable with assuming it's best for them. I can understand why someone would hesitate to make such a sudden change, but I guess common sense would also dictate that if someone can maintain the same level of accuracy on a high sens as someone else that uses a low sens, high is better for them. That's why I thought this would make for a good challenge for Ace -- it's really tough to adapt suddenly ;)
actually, i think when i got my scuf it made me a lot better of a player. people say it doesnt change ur skill, but it does because it changes the way u think and approach different situations. ill never go back
so I had a scuff on 360 but not on xbone i can tell a difference, and even though it enhances skill and doesn't create it a lot of the "close" gunfights are won because of a scuff. i also might have a little different opinion because i only play search, and you get into more controlled scenarios where a scuff is very beneficial
I just started using a Scuf on BO3. I only play TDM solo. I was around a 1.6 kd in BO2, and am now at a 1.9 kd now. I would say it gets me 3-4 extra kills a game. When you are in the "zone" probably even a few more.
+TheXclusiveAce Hey Ace i was wondering if you had any advice i want to do gaming vids and my preferred console is xbone but i could use a ps4 and i already own an xbox but it isn't in my room and there's to much echo and its on a tv should i get one in my room cuz i cant move it? and if so should i get the same console?
"Every day I use my controller like this. I'm going to change it up and not practice at all with it. Then I'll go into a game and keep saying it's the scuff not being there. Not the fact that it's a real change to my everyday play"
I only recently started to play with a headset and noticed it doesn't help me that much. I got so used to playing 'raw' without any help, that I don't need a scuff or kontrol freaks to do good :) It's all about that reaction time :)
I disagree, I mean it all comes don't to personal preference but in my experience using a headset can give you an edge on others, I can hear people before they get to me and kinda know where they are coming from.
Yeah I guess it comes down to an idividual. I simply can't play with a headset (and I have a decent one and I can hear their footsteps too). But for some reason I'm best without anything added, in fact I play without TV sound at all.
I think scufs actually help a lot cause you can position yourself better. I don’t have a scuf and I can jump shot and aim very well. But I find my movement isn’t very fluid and that gets me killed a lot. That’s why I play a slow AR role.
Whoever doesn't have a scuf, play on stick and move. Jump with the right stick it helps so so much. I used it before I got a scuf and it completely changed how I played and my ability to get out of situations.
Hey Ace another question for you...I play on a 1.37mbps download and sometimes it feels like my first 2-3 shots hit target then a lag pause before the rest find target again. It's the fastest internet I can get in my area. I don't wanna be a camper with a gorgon but I'm not sure how else to compete?
Por u could just use stick and move.. Or whatever it's called (layout that makes u jump with r3) I use that, and so many ppl think I have scuff! It makes jumpshots be so easy! U guys should definitely try it out if u don't want to "waste" money, cause that's literally the best simulator for a scuf
I play with kontrol freeks and have a headset definitely recommend the headset the kontrolfreeks are nice however I definitely think IMO they are more for comfort for me cuz my hands are bigger so having the sticks out further keeps my hands from cramping as much. I do like the idea of the scuf and or the pro xbox controller same thing but for that price it's a big turn off for me especially since the jumpshooting I have accomplished by changing r3 to jump it was odd at first but after switching that button it's definitely saved me in a few situations. However I'm still not as good as alot of you guys I wish I could be but living in the middle of nowhere with terrible internet and having issues with my eyes it's hard for me to ever be that good. Good video man just proof that the equipment doesn't make the player you seem to be really damn good no matter what you are using haha. I love watching your vids for sure man and wish you the best in your journey.
You don't need a scuf anyways for BO3. They have a controller setting that switching melee with jump, so your R3 button is the jump. Since they removed the panic melee, there is less use for it anyways. But I do admit I change back to default when I use the NX Shadow claw with bayonet ;)
In addition of this i kinda like if you do tips or info on where could scuff or kontol freek or even headset could help in which situation how it's effect your gameplay exactly at the same time you playing .. =)
i can tell that in BO3 and AW they helped a lot. i see many people shooting and jumping perfectly and i try to replicated and its hard, pressing the jump bottom and shooting/aiming !
whats more effective? bumper jumper or stick and move? i may start using bumper jumper cause stick and move isnt working out as well as i thought.. i cant hold down analog stick and move it lol
i tried bumper and couldnt use it now i use stick but i cant stab someone because i auto jump . its personal preferance . the main problem is getting used to the new stab button because you dont use it enough to learn the new one
Funny your doing this challenge cause last stream I watched I put the question to you of how much difference do you think it makes overall...hope it helped you want to do this challenge...I also gamed with you in that lobby and it was great couple games...
+RYANBRO255 it's almost 3 times the price of a normal controller and literally doesn't make a difference. most games have button layouts that are the same thing that a scuff does
for next week you should try a different controller layout I recommend bumper jumper then you can switch the l1/l2 for part two then maybe switch the stick layout for part 3
I wouldnt think so, it just take away the purpose of these episodes. He is trying to give the less experienced players a fair idea on the differences between scuf and no scuf keeping in mind the inexperienced tend to use default layout.
I have a scuf 4ps and recently it just randomly starts spinning my character about uncontrollably and it is non responsive sometimes when you hit the buttons which is a pain in the ass when your on a streak has any one got tips on how to fix this without having to send it back to scuf
I do the no scuff challenge everyday .. Cause I don't have one
+Ch3at Mast3r 123 you do school almost everyday and that's a challenge xD
Konoha I don't think their cheating though
Sasuke Uchiha Yea I'd just use bumper jumper, it saves a good 200 bucks
Conk Gaming Or just learn claw, I did and it only took me like 2 weeks to get as good as I was when I was playing regularly.
Sasuke Uchiha just play stick and move, it's easily the best setup for MLG jumpshots
The scuff doesn't make you better , it just makes things easier and more convenient.
lol i dont have a scuf, kontrol freek or play with a headset. i still have a 2.53 kd tho
+Andtherimrocker|King of Live Comms My KD is 208.208.
Same, I dont really see why this is a challenge. I guess because he got used to playing with scuff, but still, I don't really think playing without scuf is hard.

+iiTzhicham i play on a tv
Tdm

Pretty sure a wrench is a wrench and not a knife and brass knuckles aren't knifes either 😂😂 I just wanted to state that but I understand what you meant by knife only
+Rafael Marin thanks but they fit into the knife category
you see so it does give you an advantage so dont go telling us that its the same as a reg controller or not
Scufs obviously help more with all the jumping boosting futuristic bullshit they've had in the last couple games. They wouldn't have been nearly as big a deal in Ghosts and games prior to that.
exactly
Dropshot?
+MrHav1k claw. simple as that.
Marta Labunska
Incomfortable as hell and it'll be difficult to switch to from regular. It does work though. People have been clawing since Halo CE .
I don't find it uncomfortable, it does take few days to get used to it from regular hand configuration but it's more natural to me to play claw rather than regular.
If young metro don't trust you, teammate gonna block you.
The big takeaway from this video is that Ace likes it from behind.
part 4 of the challenges play on a regular TV and not a gaming monitor. would be interesting to see
regular tv no scuff and no headsets would be good
Your information and videos are invaluable to us the community thank you Exclusive Ace
I agree a scuf isn't mandatory, you did very well. Good job Ace.

I use stick jump
you can also use the button layout stick and move to have better control over your jumpshot if you don't have a scuf
For the next challenge go for as many assists as possible in one game. I really like this series Ace keep them coming.
That one is a bit to reliant on his team yes but good idea!
you could also use the button layouts (Tactical Bumper Jumper) or (Stick & Move) for aiming and jumping at the same time
been on the fence for a while about buying a scuf. perfect vid!
Just learn claw
+Biblical Knives claw is the best
+Jason Murphy For games like these in my opinion it's crucial. If you have an Xbox go with the elite. Way better build quality and it won't break down after a month like my SCUF did.
You might not feel a big difference when you start using SCUF. But when you stop, you feel it big time.
I'm soo glad i can play claw. Playing claw takes time to get used to but it's basically like having a scuf
Thanks Ace for the entertaining content.
headset is extremely useful in some situations though. It can help you catch tough/surprising situations before they come at you. Like if all your teammates are away from you and you are surrounded.
I play claw since bo2 time makes it ok, breztel feeling is only in tge first month or 2.
All non-Scuf users: I recommend using Stick and Move settings. It works amazingly well for my friend and I, and I can maintain aim while jumping.
You are one of my favorite commentator like this video keep up the good work keep it coming.....
Could you make a video on how to effectively use streaks, like the hellstorm, lightening strike, guardian, etc.?
Yes he should do that!
Yes he should do that!
Dont call in when the round is about to end! Theres one for you
Watch kill feed when a lot of enemies die then use them
Oh ace! I've got it! If the legacy south paw challenge scares you ,then try LMG hip fire only
I think elite controller is much better than the scuf one.
If u guys can't afford it (like me) just get used to claw,u get better at it after like 10-15 games. Great vid bro!!
Tried it. Awkward as fuck.
Hey ace, maybe u can try incorporating bumper jumper or stick and move and seeing how that compares to scuf. I know I would be super interested to know, a scuf isn't in my budget and I play bumper jumper

I hope that @TheXclusiveAce had a long ranged map when he took of the KontrolFreek.
i dont use a scuf, but my button layout is the stick and move! that definitely helps for jumpshots
yea i kill everyone who is waiting around a corner for me
I got my scuf about 2 months ago and it defiantly helps you win a lot more gun fights. You especially need it while doing comp COD like I play
Doesn't everyone in competitive have a Scuf?
+Astvtic no not true, Comp COD can just be GBs or UMG not everyone that plays those have scuds, but I helps out a lot and gives a huge advantage
very few jump shots, reluctant to push up and don't dominate nearly as much as usual. Scuf makes a massive difference.
well the ergo controller concept is very good for PC shooters because on one thing the workplace efficiency!!
actually, i think when i got my scuf it made me a lot better of a player. people say it doesnt change ur skill, but it does because it changes the way u think and approach different situations. ill never go back
Homie looks like BigTymer lol
+Crazed Gaming big t is 10x sexier sorry ace but i gotta love my man big t
you can also change your settings to bumper jumper or bumper jumper tactical
"And today I wont be using a scuf controller. Instead, I'll be using the xbox one elite controller. Let's get into it." XD
so I had a scuff on 360 but not on xbone i can tell a difference, and even though it enhances skill and doesn't create it a lot of the "close" gunfights are won because of a scuff. i also might have a little different opinion because i only play search, and you get into more controlled scenarios where a scuff is very beneficial

Hey Ace, is it possible for you to play the PC version? I just want to know what you think about weapon damage and if it is different to console.
I only recently started to play with a headset and noticed it doesn't help me that much. I got so used to playing 'raw' without any help, that I don't need a scuff or kontrol freaks to do good :) It's all about that reaction time :)

Use Stick and Move button layout to aim while jumping. Changed from tactical and its way more useful in this game for myself at least.
I think scufs actually help a lot cause you can position yourself better. I don’t have a scuf and I can jump shot and aim very well. But I find my movement isn’t very fluid and that gets me killed a lot. That’s why I play a slow AR role.
could you do an episode of this challenge, or make a new challenge where you're playing claw? that would be interesting
Ace, did you play with the default button layout or did you use stick and move or bumper jumper?
To add little bit more of a challenge you should use an auto generated class
that is a completely different challange.
+Bongo King Did you read it wrong?
Eemil Valtonen this has no relevance to the current challenge and should be a challenge of its own. (Don't know how I can put this any more clearly)
+Bongo King I was trying to say something to make the challenge harder because this guy is dominating
Whoever doesn't have a scuf, play on stick and move. Jump with the right stick it helps so so much. I used it before I got a scuf and it completely changed how I played and my ability to get out of situations.
I'll stick with default.
that is what I use I also switched button layout to use LB RB to aim and shoot helps alot
Logan Nelson I love stick and move
pyro armory191 I'll try that with my favorite stick and move layout
Hey Ace another question for you...I play on a 1.37mbps download and sometimes it feels like my first 2-3 shots hit target then a lag pause before the rest find target again. same thats what i use
I just ordered a scuf I'm really excited
dude its obvious the control freak makes a difference, I could notice on his reaction time ,hell yeah the kontrol freak helps out .
I love watching your vids for sure man and wish you the best in your journey.
i really suggest u learn to play claw! it takes atleast a whole day to get used to it,but honestly better than scuf in my opinion
bumper jumper button layout is a good way to substitute a scuf for free
If you use the stick and move button layout it will make the right stick your jump ability. Not a scuff but damn close.
if no scuff, bumper jumper or stick & move do you prefer?
I'd predict no sound will be the biggest influence on game play.
Always there's a kuda, man-o-war, vmp, and a kn-44 in every lobby I go to.
For me it's krm and brecci
Hi Ace, have you tried the Elite controller?? How you feel??
You don't need a scuf anyways for BO3. They have a controller setting that switching melee with jump, so your R3 button is the jump. Since they removed the panic melee, there is less use for it anyways. But I do admit I change back to default when I use the NX Shadow claw with bayonet ;)
I tried that. Takes a lot of getting used to
I hate the panic melee. The amount of quickscope kills I possibly could've got is too damn higher
+Sililo Vakauta yeah it did take some getting use to but once I did it's hard to go back lol
+DracodinGaming Im only using it for trick shots. But I'll master this shit and fuck people up
+Sililo Vakauta ewwww trickshots
In addition of this i kinda like if you do tips or info on where could scuff or kontol freek or even headset could help in which situation how it's effect your gameplay exactly at the same time you playing .. =)
i can tell that in BO3 and AW they helped a lot. i see many people shooting and jumping perfectly and i try to replicated and its hard, pressing the jump bottom and shooting/aiming !
I can use bumper jumper and jump with l1
I do this challenge every time I play
Don't listen to any of these hate comments. Your content is amazing
crystian calixto cool
What control setup are you using? Im willing to bet you couldn't even see a difference in the game play if you use bummper jumper tactical
ace, its pretty simple to do this challenge. just dont jump or slide! like play defensively
whats more effective? bumper jumper or stick and move? i may start using bumper jumper cause stick and move isnt working out as well as i thought.. i cant hold down analog stick and move it lol
i tried bumper and couldnt use it now i use stick but i cant stab someone because i auto jump . its personal preferance . the main problem is getting used to the new stab button because you dont use it enough to learn the new one
How long does a scuf controller last? I game about 2 hours a day and my normal ps4 controller lasts about 2-3 years playing cod and other games.
did you use default button layout or did you change it and if so what to?!
Funny your doing this challenge cause last stream I watched I put the question to you of how much difference do you think it makes overall...hope it helped you want to do this challenge...I also gamed with you in that lobby and it was great couple games...
I think the most important thing to take from this video is "but, of course, im still on top. Which you gotta like 😏" -(Xclusive Ace 2017).
I got a question. What ginger do u use for the paddle buttons? Your middle finger?
Do a hip fire challenge. Every kill has to be hip fire.
1st episode - shotgun
2nd episode - smg or ar
3rd episode - sniper
You could always just play bumper jumper and save yourself $300
That's what I do
or stick and move
+goonber or Claw
Or work and not be cheap and spend $300
MyBlackhawks88 i bet u my cheap ass would destroy you while playing claw
"I don't mind coming back from behind" - Xclusive Ace 2k16
Is it just me, or does Ace sound like Dr. Hibbert when he laughs?
Is a XB1 Elite controller basically a scuff, it has the paddles?
scuff's have got to be the biggest waste of money I've ever seen
+closecombat211 why
+RYANBRO255 it's almost 3 times the price of a normal controller and literally doesn't make a difference. most games have button layouts that are the same thing that a scuff does
+closecombat211 It makes a huge difference in BO3 tho
+Astvtic not really, it depends on your playstyle
Astvtic ikr i use 1 and i luv it
right now ace has 172172 subs
not that anyone cares
*172,172
*172172
Right now Ace has 403k subs just two years after your comment. Not that anyone cares
What is the difference between a Xbox one elite controller and a normal controller
I physically CANNOT play without kontrolfreeks anymore
stick and move controller setting is good, as well
What setting do u hav ur controller on when u dlnt hav a scuff?
for next week you should try a different controller layout
I recommend bumper jumper
then you can switch the l1/l2 for part two
then maybe switch the stick layout for part 3
i use bumper jumper its kind of like a scuf but free
+samuel toye switch to stick and move man, that way you can ads and jump. Drop shotting is dead anyway
I wouldnt think so, it just take away the purpose of these episodes. He is trying to give the less experienced players a fair idea on the differences between scuf and no scuf keeping in mind the inexperienced tend to use default layout.
Scuf is life
You can jumpsuit without a scuf is you use bumper jumper and put ur middle finger on the aim and point finger on the jump
Let's go ace!!
I have a scuf 4ps and recently it just randomly starts spinning my character about uncontrollably and it is non responsive sometimes when you hit the buttons which is a pain in the ass when your on a streak has any one got tips on how to fix this without having to send it back to scuf
Would've been more interesting if it wasn't on one of the flattest, most ground-based maps in the game. In terms of map navigation as well
