My husband connected our geyser up following this video and it's been 2 months still going without problems thumbs up to the 2 plumber's in the video and I notice they from south Africa by they language lol great jobs
I'm the (husband) I see my wife's comment it's been 2 years of the installation of my geyser and I followed every step of this video amazing insight of the procedures no one could believe when I said I did it myself my geyser burst over the weekend but luckily I was insured by outsurance but decided to take a cash claim and do it myself once again because over this 2 years I have installed 8 people geysers and done it brilliantly even if I have to say it myself, pipes was neatly secured to the wall layout was finished perfectly but know I'm looking forward to do mine again but this time I want to install solar panels but I do not think I'll do that myself I'll rather get a professional to do the installation on the solar panels. But after 2years still kept this video in my downloads. Thanks alot guys
Very helpful and to the point. Some of these “how to” videos tend to spend 9/10 minutes talking a lot of nonsense and the actual video is just a minute long. Good job and thanks for sharing
Good video. However it is important to note that when installing a geyser, there is need to balance the pressure on the cold water supply i.e. cold water for the rest of the house and for the geyser supply. To achieve this, cold water supply to the rest of the house must be connected after the pressure valve. So its pressure valve, tee junction (house cold water supply and geyser cold water supply) and straight valve Now if you do that you achieve a balanced water pressure on both cold and hot water. Thank you
Why are the vacuum breakers being referred to as solar outlets? Also the anti-syphon loop is sitting lower than the top of the "water heater", it should stick out above.
I have a 600kpa gyser but the pressure control valve of the cold water inlet to the geyser is 200kpa. Can that be the reason I get low pressure on all the hot water taps around the house? Thanks in advance
It is required but it's not a must but wise plumbers they like to do things ones so it ensures that your fittings will never leak due maybe to the faulty on the rings
Those "solar outlets" are called vacuum breakers. They allow air into the system and play a role in preventing back siphonage. The anti siphon loop in this installation is too low, the horizontal run of the pipe should be higher then the top of the geyser. The cold water supply to the rest of the house seems to be absent... That would normally come after the PRV to ensure balanced pressure in the installation. Sheesh. Guys please call a plumber instead.
I'm confused. You cut the cold water supply pipe and fit it to the inlet of the geyser as well as the outlet? You just changed water supply to the house to only hot water I think. Plus there's no syphon loop on this installation...
Maybe you've found it by now but you do that by opening the drain cock on the cold side. If there is not vacuum breaker on the hot side it might no drain easily or at all. In this case remove the safety valve or loosen the hot outlet to "break the vacuum"
Years ago we spent some time in Montagu during August when outside temps were around 6 degrees, they also had their geyser outside, needless to say the geyser was on 24/7 trying to heat the water to 75 degrees. It would be interesting to see the consumption for the above installation.
I was watching this video last night and something bothered me about this, i watched again and saw that there is no cold water supply to the house, so im not sure why they didnt do it like that, would love to know
The system is unbalanced this is the reason for no cold water supply and also they never installed a non return valve to prevent back flow into the system.
the narator does not know what is going on here, kwikot geyser are old school and need to be updated, solar instlation is not shown in this video, the presure valve should be instlalled at the water meter side to alow the cold and hot water to have the same presure.
Good video but perhaps don't include each and every joint being tightened, very repetitive and pointless. I also would have liked to have seen something about the electrical supply requirements.

Handy Andy trying to plumb
Looking for this very same comment 😂
I also wanted to comment about the anti syphon loop. It should be slightly above the geyser
What a greatest content for DIY... just watched this vid and then subscribe to the channel 💯.. hoping to learn much from you
Job well done guys
If my tank is fitted underneath my bath ceiling the two vacume green breakers do these have to be installed if fitted horizontally
How do you clean the pressure valve cartridge behind the geyser tank? There is no syphon loop on this install?
You have little knowledge man do you know that the Vacuum breakers can also works as anty

Hi can I install my geyser in the bathroom instead of putting it in the ceiling ?🙂
You can put it outside the house
These guys just saved me 3200 rands on labor, I called my friend, we did it and bought booe and meat for braai

Tomorrow it will be a void issue Baba
Just a question why do you put ptfe tap around the ring of a copper pipe. Didn't think you needed to do that
You are right, ptfe tape is not required around the rings for that type of fitting
It is required but it's not a must but wise plumbers they like to do things ones so it ensures that your fittings will never leak due maybe to the faulty on the rings
Can l install on top of the roof?

I thought I didn't know my story until I read your comment. The must he a Tee after pressure valve so the water can be balanced in the house.
My geyser was ook buite, totdat diewe die koper fittings kom afbreek het. Volgende keer elektifiseer ek dit.
Ahh copper pipes, if only they werent stolen so often in SA would be nice😢
Helpfull very

What if I have low pressure on cold water going to geyser?
That can result to the burn on your element so you need to install the booster pump to make sure your water supply is active
Why must a vacuum breaker installed higher than 300mm above geyser
Not higher than that but from the Tee 30cm exactly
Please, teach that bloke to use a copper cutter 😅
How do I empty the geyser, same one as that.,......laymen terms please

Next time mention the pressure valve on the hot outlet side.Mention also that there must be a 30 amp external breaker box .Otherwise good clip
So why they putting ptfe

I was watching this video last night and something bothered me about this, i watched again and saw that there is no cold water supply to the house, so im not sure why they didnt do it like that, would love to know

Antisyphon loop t piece must be 100mm obove the geyser this one to low
This piping is so wrong, using PTFE on ring's on conex fittings 😢😢
No need for ptfe tape on those fittngs with a ring. It is actually a sealing ring. Does not need tape. 😢😢😢

It's a vacume breaker not for solar man
As per SANS this is a bust. Installing a geyser DIY can lead to serious harm.

It's not completely wrong but as a plumber I have to say it's not a proper installation
Anti siphon loop not high enough. No cold water supply to the rest of the house after the prv.
