  • You really must hear this remarkable set of "light" Mozart: a phenomenal achievement by a true genius among 20th century musicians (Capriccio).

As a young student I have studied with members of the Camerata Academica and listened to each concert Vegh gave together with the Camerata in Vienna . It was simply phantastic although Vegh was aready very old and frail at this time. I have forgotten almost every concert I listened during this time. But not the Vegh performances. They are for eternity.
This box - together with the piano concertos and symphonies - accompanied me through my years as a music student. Still after many years of listening to these recordings they are simply unmatched. Thats »Mozart«.
According to what Mr Hurwitz said about Bernstein: Vegh was a genius, too. He heard sounds, structures and meanings in music and brought things to life that are simply beyond anything.

Agreed! Végh did Mozart like no one else. You immediately know there's something special when you hear these.

Mozart's K. 247 is one of my favorite works! And this is such a stunning interpretation. Thank you!

Wonderful tribute to Végh. He was highly regarded by Karajan and other great and far more famous conductors.

Sir I hold you in incredibly high regard... your knowledge of music is just encyclopedic, and I always left amazed at the breadth of your love of music, and your knowledge of it.. but thank heavens you put my mind at rest by saying you were 'pulling our leg' as we say here in the UK, i.e. you were having fun when you said Mozart's music all sounded the same..... this is music heresy, but fortunately you did not mean it. So much regard, and I love every single one of your videos... many thanks.

Thank you for getting the joke--that's such a rare quality in the classical music business, where everyone takes themselves sooooo seriously!

This lived up to your recommendation so well that I've just ordered Vegh's set of piano concertos with Andras Schiff.

Thank you. On the topic of Sandor Végh, could you say a few words or video on his recording of Bartok/Berg/Stravinsky?
