  • Derek Holt is a former and founding member of The Climax Blues Band, a British blues rock band. The band originated in Stafford, England in 1967 and is still in existence although with no original members. 2 of the original members have passed, Colin Cooper in 2008 and Pete Haycock in 2013. The band’s 2 biggest hits were 1975’s “Couldn’t Get It Right” and 1981’s “I Love You” written and sung by my guest today. You would have to have been hiding under a rock for the past 4 decades or so to have not ever heard either song. Derek left the band in 1983. After that he recorded an album in a trio as Grand Alliance (1983) and another album with Pete Haycock as H Factor in 1989. And Mr. Holt has also worked with Stewart Copeland and keyboardist Gary Moberley. Derek has released several solo albums beginning with 1999's “I Love You” and in 2021 collaborated with ex-CBB member Richard Jones on the album Shadowman.
